The original cohort of Dutch adolescents who were puberty blocked are now in their 30s or so. The original team is meant to be releasing a follow up very soon (they’ve said it’s coming) but they have a high rate of lost to follow up patients which will make the data even more poor quality.
And the original Dutch researchers have stated publicly that what they consider to be a good outcome is quite limited in their minds; if a patient says their gender dysphoria is better, then it’s a success. They’ve said they don’t think other issues like poor surgical outcomes, lack of relationships, other mental health issues etc would mean that medical transition of adolescents is a failure.
With regards to “neovaginas” one of the original Dutch cohort died at aged 18 following a vaginoplasty. The patient died of necrotising fasciitis from E.Coli, a bowel bacteria. Such a horrible way to die, your insides going rapidly necrotic 😞.
And with regards to Jazz Jennings, we don’t need to wait for years, the complications are already there and Jazz talks about it. Jazz will never father children. Jazz has never had an orgasm. Jazz needed multiple surgical revisions. Jazz’s mother spoke on camera about having to force Jazz to wake up and dilate. Jazz is overweight with an eating disorder and mental health issues.
Jazz is 22 years old. 10-12 years on from puberty blockers. 6 years on from surgery. If Jazz had had none of that, Jazz would be a physically healthy 22 year old gay male going to college and doing all the normal things 22 year old males do.
But instead Jazz has a lifetime of medical complications to deal with, because there will need to be a fix, for the fix, for the fix. The list will only increase sadly.
