When trans rights trumps children's safety

This story has come about in my local area:

An elderly man spotted wearing a girl’s school uniform near a Leigh secondary school and on a bus “does not pose a risk”, according to police who have urged the public to stop sharing photos of him.

uk.news.yahoo.com/police-man-seen-outside-leigh-163212326.html

This old man is riding school buses and hanging around schools in full girl's uniform and bad wig.

Apparently the schools have had to arrange special assemblies to brief children not to travel alone.

But police don't want anyone to share images of this man online and he has told them that he is not a risk.

He's clearly not trans, but I fear that the police are so scared of the subject that they're allowing this behaviour to continue.

By saying he's not a risk, the police are telling the community he's safe to be around children.

What a fucking ejaculatory moment for up and coming predatory paedophiles. This man may not be that - it sounds more like age-related AGP right now - but they've just green-lighted men loitering outside different primary schools as long as they dress like a schoolgirl!

Quite staggering.

And this "safe dude" is now at more risk after the police's statement, because they have told the world that they're not going to stop him.

It's quite incredible the number of people who think he has a right to "live his best life" in this way. Makes me want to vomit actually.

Well done to the schools for making it clear to their pupils that his behaviour is not ok.

There is a long thread on AIBU about this

...and concluded he hasn't committed any crime and doesn't pose any risk. Police have also asked the public to stop sharing photos of him on social media.

I also don't see what this has to do with transpeople or trans-rights?

At any point in the recent past this man, who also has a PRIMARY SCHOOL UNIFORM THAT HE WEARS IN PUBLIC would have been dealt with appropriately. He is loitering outside schools wearing a girl's school uniform, following the children onto the bus and taking photos. He has uniforms for both primary and secondary schools.

Up until recently everyone called this gentleman exactly what i can't call him on here, we all see it we all recognise it for what it is.

What has changed in the last few years that suddenly means a man with a thing for children can brazenly dress in a girl's school uniform and stare at, photograph and harass children?

Come on Marge, think. Join the dots.

What's so different about the world now?

Why has this man been allowed to continue with his frankly worrying behaviour?

What has changed?

Why is a grown man suddenly getting away with this?grow

Why does he feel free suddenly to be able to do this now and not ten years ago?ten

Come on Pie, it's not that difficult.

But the police do seem to have investigated and have spoken to the man involved?

It would be beneficial if some of the schools and police could seek legal advice - as to what can be done to protect the children. It does seem to be causing distress. I’m ethnic minority and if someone was wearing ‘our’ traditional clothing and standing outside restaurants or community centres - I would find it threatening. Can restraining orders be sought? Or does this have to be towards an individual (rather than school/business)?

madeyemoody · 21/01/2023 01:12

Police won't act until a child gets hurt or involved. So right now he probably grooming a victim. Looking from afar. Trying to find the girls he wants to assault. The longer he allowed the more confident he will get. Next week he will be caught masturbating or flashing. Women and girls are always collateral damage. It takes a woman or girl to be raped before the police will act. We are that disposable in society that this scrote has freedom to force his perversion onto others until he does harm. The harm will be against a young girl. But that's what it takes. Until then he "just expressing himself" and in 2023 he is allowed to get this close to children because if not we will destroyed publicly for being "transphobic" this is the end result of gender ideology.

FriendofJoanne · 20/01/2023 22:50

Very interesting article @Manteiga - dressing in school uniform and loitering outside a school one year, arrested for ‘exposure’ (I’m guessing flashing) and put on the sec offenders register the next.

But of course there’s no risk, this is all totally normal. Move along ladies, stop your transphobic bigotry….

Reminds me of an article I read recently about the escalation in crime from stealing underwear to flashing to rape/assault.

thecatsmum12346 · 20/01/2023 22:42

let’s call a spade a spade. He is no doubt getting turned on by looking at young girls coming out of the school whilst he stands and stares at them. This is totally and utterly obscene….yet this perverse behaviour is tolerated by a police force who should be protecting women and children….

I feel if he were dressed in normal attire the police would have no problem dealing with it. Dressed as he is they won’t touch him with a barge pole.

Also sharing photos of people seen acting strangely is usually encouraged to enable the public to know to avoid them.

So true. A ‘normal’ weirdo would be dealt with. A brave pervert in a girl’s uniform is allowed to continue with his perversions. W the total f?

Without any legal powers what are the police supposed to do? What laws is he breaking? People can wear what they like and going on the bus isn’t illegal.

Stalking. Loitering with intent. Harassment. Decency laws. GDPR perhaps if he is taking pics with out permission? Intimidation. Public Order.

Nowadays our obsession with not to be seen to be discriminatory appears to have eroded all common sense and justice. This protects no one!

Unfortunately, that's completely correct.

slamfightbrightlight · 20/01/2023 14:10

I was also going to say this would surely meet the definition of ASB.

toffeecocomars · 20/01/2023 14:04

Terrible, if I knew a man was doing that on a bus with my daughters on it, they wouldn't in hell be getting on that bus I assure you

Cross-dressing comes under the ‘trans umbrella’, according to Stonewall. So this has everything to do with the rights demanded for trans people.

www.stonewall.org.uk/transforming-futures-faqs
‘Trans’ is an umbrella term for people whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the sex they were assigned at birth. This includes people who may describe themselves using one or more of a wide variety of terms, including (but not limited to) transgender, transsexual, gender-queer (GQ), gender-fluid, non-binary, gender-variant, crossdresser, genderless, ....

But of course ASBO's no longer exist outside Scotland.

They were replaced, to an extent anyway, by injunctions, civil orders which one imagines are costly, and criminal behaviour orders, which can only follow a conviction. So naff all use, basically.

We have Community Protection Notices nowadays - I don't know the difference. Plus broad public order, public decency offences that seem to let the coppers shoo people away when they feel like it. They're probably waiting for one of the dad's to clock him so they can chalk up a solved hate crime.

First poster beat me to it. The article and the man in question have nothing to do with trans rights or children's rights. You've made quite the leap from 'man dresses inappropriately' to 'police rufuse to investigate due to perpetrator being trans'.

Lots of “beee kiiiind” on this thread! If a man says he’s a schoolgirl/ a unicorn / not a risk etc, then obviously he is a schoolgirl/ a unicorn / not a risk etc.

Be silent, women. Know your place. Defer to men. Etc.

Manteiga · 20/01/2023 12:51

Very similar case, resulting in an ASBO:

www.eadt.co.uk/news/21295745.asbo-imposed-83-year-old/

This similar (minus the uniform dress up) case show how it was dealt with back in 2007. Before police forces had been stonewall indoctrinated trained. I think ASBOs have been replaced by other measures in England at least but why are we supposed to now turn a blind eye to this behaviour?

QuinnLovesEris · 20/01/2023 10:45

He needs to be either arrested or sectioned.

DarkDayforMN · 20/01/2023 10:13

It won't be a school bus. In an urban area many children won't live 3 miles or more from their school and will catch (and their parents pay for) a normal public service bus to school.

Why don't the bus company ban him? It would be pretty easy to tell their drivers not to let him on; they don't need to wait for him to actually assault someone, do they?

Ideally the bus company / companies would ban him but I'm not sure they could, legally.

You'd have to ask a lawyer familiar with the subject.
