So any criticism (or more likely ridicule) has them fearing actual assault.

I agree that the example quoted was unacceptable but from what i have seen that was cherry picked and the vast number of comments had a very different tone. But literal violence none the less. 🙄

Exactly, and the article was about the death threats and safety. Not about ridicule or criticism- although they got that too.

I don’t agree. They were referring to actual death threats. It’s not “hysterical” to feel fear when you receive death threats. It’s not technically cherry picking because you’d expect death threats to be few in number compared to the number of verbally abusive comments that do not threaten death.

Your narrative is damaging, should we now ignore all women who receive misogynist death threats or minorities who receive racist death threats because…,oh but that’s only like 5% of all the abusive comments you got, so stop being hysterical and paranoid. 🙄

The whole article is absolutely pathetic. No one is going to be violent, they’re just not going to go. Who wants to pay good money to watch that shite?
