I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

Double mastectomies are performed on a few very young teenagers who identify as male, in North America, not here. 17 is the youngest I've heard of here. Genital surgery on a minor is fortunately rare. Mermais ex-CEO Susie Green's child was 16 on the day of the op, and Thailand changed its laws as a consequence of the publicity following that case. However, puberty blockers followed by cross-hormone 'therapy' often starts much earlier.

How sad. I assumed they only did this sort of surgery on older people. 18+

It's my understanding that you have to be 18 in the UK to have surgery. Not sure about other countries.

This report on market growth references Scotland's new law, suggesting this will 'augment industry progress'.

To be fair if the NHS are doing it I tend to trust the NHS

Ever heard of Thalidomide, vaginal mesh or the epilepsy drug that causes severe birth defects?

Well that’s hardly blimming surprising is it. Creating body parts in a body that wasn’t designed that way.

This!!

I know some parents who might be navigating this difficult issue. My main concern is that these kids and young adults get proper mental health support. It just makes me sick that's companies are making a profit out of giving kids and young people drugs and surgery. I'm.no scientist but aren't we meant to go through puberty for genetic reasons? And health stuff. If this is stopped then surgery won't this affect them???

This. Over and over again.

As Helen Joyce has pleaded, we just want to see children and young people who have deep and painful difficulty conforming to oppressive gender stereotypes and roles, getting the health care they need. Proper therapy would be a good start.

Did you use the acronym TiM or refer to autogynephelia? TiM is banned - you'll need to say transwoman or mtf transitioner. Same principle applies with TiF.

Ah!

Yes I did.

So sad MN is swallowing Kool Aid and meanwhile I’ve seen them let stand comments calling people cunts

www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/us-sex-reassignment-surgery-market

'The U.S. sex reassignment surgery market size was valued at USD 1.9 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.23% from 2022 to 2030. The rising incidences of gender dysphoria and the increasing number of people opting for gender confirmation surgeries are expected to boost the growth during the forecast period. According to a study conducted by Cedars Sinai in June 2020, approximately 78% of transgender males experienced gender dysphoria by the age of 7. The mean age to experience gender dysphoria was less in transgender males, which is about 6.2 years.

Sex reassignment surgery is gaining popularity among the young transgender population in the U.S., as it helps people with gender dysphoria transition to their self-identified gender. According to an article published in the New York Times, around 1.4% & 1.3% of young people aged 13 to 17 and 18 to 24, respectively, are transgender in the U.S., accounting for only 0.5% of total adults.

The increasing number of sex reassignment surgeries in the U.S. is expected to propel the growth of the industry during the forecast period. According to the 2020 Plastic Surgery Statistics by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a 15% rise in breast or chest surgical procedures was reported in transgender male patients from 2019 to 2020.

The improving reimbursement scenario is also anticipated to positively impact the market growth during the forecast period. Insurance providers such as Aetna and Unicare provide insurance for necessary surgical procedures, such as salpingo-oophorectomy, hysterectomy, orchiectomy, or ovariectomy. In the U.S., around 152,000 transgender individuals are enrolled in Medicaid and only 69,000 among them have access to gender-affirming care coverage under state law.'

In all due respect wth did these people expect?? There are enough risks with normal routine surgery. Never mind creating a blooming vagina in a place where a vagina is definitely not meant to go!

Elaine Miller is very knowledgeable and articulate on this. she is an obstetric physiotherapist and has done a lot of research. She has made some very good you tube videos.

MiaMoor · 16/01/2023 22:42

You can see it unfolding on SM, places like Reddit - there are subreddits for eggs (those newly thinking about being trans - on this board this is very often porn addicted men), there’s pressure to transition.
Other subreddits encourage surgery, validate each other.
No women’s subs are allowed, all are infiltrated by TW - lesbian subs, pregnancy, breastfeeding. In fashion and hair groups all over SM men are fawned over and given the validation they seek, mostly by women.

In other depths of SM we come to the surgery regret side, mostly denied and downplayed, and the detransitioners, bullied and silenced.

It’s a mess. There are more red flags than you could imagine, yet still the ideology marches on, grown adults cowed by TRAs, terrified that they may be treated like JKR.

Babdoc · 16/01/2023 20:43

Why are they calling it a vaginoplasty? No surgeon can create a vagina - what these men have received is basically a surgical fistula, with all the inevitable problems that come with it.

Grim.

but yeah. Absolutely.

I just linked to the KF thread but it was immediately hidden, so I'm guessing that HQ have a trigger set up for links.

Search this and you'll find it:

ArabellaScott · 16/01/2023 22:40

The fact that children and young people are being sent on a 'path' that suggests that they need medical treatment to 'affirm their gender' is one of the driving reasons feminists have been banging on about all of these issues for years.

No child is born in the 'wrong body'.

Not true, many male female to male trans people don’t have bottom surgery and they can have children if they keep their internal reproductive organs.

If they've been on puberty blockers and then straight onto wrong sex hormones their gametes won't mature. They will be sterile. No option to harvest sperm or eggs.

Excess testosterone causes vaginally and uterine atrophy, I believe in many cases the only cure is a hysterectomy. Some transmen do get pregnant, doctors are still unsure of the effect of excess testosterone on the babies in utero, particularly baby girls.

TheKeatingFive · 16/01/2023 22:39

The latest thing I saw was some nutter on Twitter talking about potential womb transplants from 'living donors'.

Like you can just scoop a womb out of one person, plug it into another and grow a baby 🤯

Thanks. I think I'm going to do some reading up so I understand what's going on better

If it's NHS they must tell them the chances of what might go wrong and what they will end up with though?

Having read testimonies of detransitioners on other sites, most of them seem to have virtually no understanding of the risks and actual outcomes. These were all very young when they transitioned.

There’s a trans woman on the couples therapy programme on BBC who has exactly this problem.

Last year when the whole commotion about Kiwi Farms was happening I took a look at the forums to judge them for myself. Without getting into what KF is like, I ended up on a thread where posts from other parts of the internet from people who had these surgeries are collected. And OMFG, it's horrific. I honestly believe that if these photographs and personal descriptions of the aftermath of these surgeries were put together as mainstream news, these surgeries would be halted immediately and banned after an investigation. They are terrifying.

Yes. The SRS and gender confirmation surgery thread on KF.

I too went down this rabbit hole and there are hundreds of posts from all over the world showing the outcomes. Some of them are truly horrific, and many regret having the surgery and feel they were lied to.

The "new" organs absolutely do not function as they are supposed to. It's terrifying to read and should be talked about and shown to young people contemplating these surgeries.
