Complications from trans surgery!

I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

A prominent transwoman insists they have a cervix.

A prominent transman allegedly expressed surprise and disappointment at being unable to breastfeed after a double mastectomy.

Either these individuals did not have the full biological reality of their surgeries explained to them in advance, or they were of the mindset to not listen/understand.

In terms of medical ethics both scenarios are troubling and warrant scrutiny.

What's the subreddit?

They are probably talking about "detrans" subreddit. There are also a lot of detransitioners testimonies on youtube if you google "detrans stories" or "detrans regret"

Have you ever been on the Reddit pages about regret? Not for those with weak stomachs.

What's the subreddit?

@Dixiechickonhols - but this is the nature of the problems that TRA,s have created. If it's not done when I want, it's transphobic.

Yes exactly.
I’m part of a group for my rare condition and the USA women’s experience is very different. They tend to jump far more quickly into surgery. I think part is insurance related it’s cheaper to take hit of one major surgery and than pay co pay on repeated more minor surgery. But also cultural - I want it now and I’m paying therefore I should have it. Plus also the belief there has to be a fix for this - a common question from Americans is surely there’s a one and done option. I’ve never seen a British or Australian ask that. It’s very different to our British more cautious wait and see, try less invasive options first approach.

What strikes me how rushed everything is. For surgery with lifelong implications and high risks of serious complications.
I had pioneering reconstructive surgery (airway not genital) It was openly recognised by all drs it was a major decision and lots of risks. I took time to make decision. I had a detailed consent appointment and they asked for me to bring my husband to ensure all risks were fully understood and I had support. I was under no illusions that it would be a miracle cure. A bit of your thigh and rib can’t fully replicate another body part. It’s physically impossible. Issues like no one knows how long it will last before re do needed, no long term outcomes available as procedure is so new, issue with hair (mines the opposite my reconstruction lacks the little hairs airway normally have)
I was older. I’m not autistic, no psychological issues. Yet it was recognised I needed detailed information (even if the information was we don’t know) and time to make a truly informed consent.

Sorry my last comment was to @Ihatedonuts

If you look on some crowd funding sites and search on ‘top surgery revision’ you will see a worrying number of people trying to raise money to get the terrible results of the first surgery fixed. All sorts of serious complications and botches.

This seems to be totally unregulated as far as I can see - and so many are being permanently disfigured when it goes wrong.

Ihatedonuts · 19/01/2023 23:05

Hi all I'm posting again wow this has has had of replies. Im glad it's still up as it's opened my eyes to want the surgery is, I can't believe how invasive it is. Also not reversible. I saw something about scotland reducing this to 16,. How can you consent to surgery but not be allowed to drink? Am I missing something!

When you start looking into it all, really looking, and going beyond the huge great big safeguarding red flags where children are concerned, you start to see the inevitable links made with anything involving queer theory - which is very much at the root of this.

See also the cartoons for kids and on posters and in books with their mastectomy scars. Drip drip drip into kids awarenesses.

And the language of “top surgery” and “bottom surgery” makes it all sound so nice and just normal operations and procedures. Easy to scan over when reading about various issues and not really understand what they mean in reality.

I started to post earlier but internet disappeared.
I am glad to see that there are people on this thread who were previously unaware of exactly what has been going on.
It really makes it clear why MN was under so much pressure to corral all discussion onto the specially created "FWR Sex and Gender Discussions" section.
I hope many more people will visit that section now.

100% this. Also credit to MN for allowing these discussions to continue. Those of us that have been on these threads before know that MN has been under incredible pressure by various parties to stop these healthy debates on here. This is the only place for a lot of people that they can discuss this.

I think the GRC was pre sentence quashing, I could be wrong though.

nothingcomestonothing · 19/01/2023 16:12

Sorry yes you're right, killed a man, attempted to rape a woman.

NewBootsAndRanty · 19/01/2023 16:11

nothingcomestonothing · 19/01/2023 16:01

Are you thinking of Karen Jones/Lawson?
They held hostage and attacked a woman in a trans clothing store in Manchester - this was pre transition though, just after they'd been released from prison for killing their partner.

NewBootsAndRanty thanks that's the one.

Those who think we're all a bit pearl clutchy/tin foil hat might like to consider this case of a male with a conviction for killing a woman, who had their life sentence reduced because they were physically incapable of rape in their next attack. And then was awarded a GRC whilst in prison for violent sexual attacks on women.

Be kind/just want to pee/most vulnerable/this never happens my fat arse.

They were also invited to speak at the house of lords about trans equality, and delivered equality/diversity talks for the ambulance service, amongst other groups

NewBootsAndRanty · 19/01/2023 16:10

It was a male partner they killed - not that it makes any of it any better.

I got my first breast screening appointment through today with a lovely booklet explaining the whole thing and then about masectomies. It brought into stark reality as I await my appointment of exactly what they are putting these poor kids/young women through.

It's just so wrong.

NewBootsAndRanty · 19/01/2023 14:31

^sorry, should have said Karen Jones/Karen Lawson/Mark Lawson (they've used all 3 names)

Yep. There’s a very disturbing agenda, that I’m sure most trans people aren’t aware of, but as a community they are very much being used. Possibly like PIE in the 70s/80s, but on an enormous scale.

Let's face it, neither a post-op F2M nor a post-op M2F is as much of a threat to women as some people who claim to be pre-op M2F might occasionally be

Sadly not true - males whose penis doesn't work, either from surgery or medication, use objects to sexually assault instead. I'm wracking my brains trying to think of the recentish case where a transwoman attacked the owner of a clothes shop catering to transwomen, I can't find the attackers name. Male bodied people don't lose their greater physical strength when they transition, hence the issues with transwomen in women's sports.

Pre-op (or no-intention-to-have-an-op) males who identify as trans appear to commit sexual offences at six times the rate of non trans identifying males, if current prisons stats are correct. So not really an 'occasional' threat either.

Are you thinking of Karen Jones/Lawson?
They held hostage and attacked a woman in a trans clothing store in Manchester - this was pre transition though, just after they'd been released from prison for killing their partner.

They had their life sentence quashed after it was decided that among various other things they'd only attempted (and been unable to physically maintain an erection to carry out) rape because of gender dysphoria - they also claimed they'd attempted the attack in order to go back to prison and transition. They were also.the first person to get a GRC in prison.

Sorry if I've got that mixed up with a similar case.

Grin@Boiledbeetle thank you. Don't give them ideas though, that could get very dark.
