"Gender expression, of course, is simply how a person presents themselves in terms of dress and general appearance. So under this law, if your 13-year-old son is meeting some friends for a movie and comes down the stairs wearing only a nappy, a ball gag and an adult bib with “CUM SLUT” printed on it, and you say “You’re not bloody going out dressed like that!”, you’ll be committing a crime for which he can have you arrested as long as he claims it’s part of his gender expression."

There's more, so much more.

Oh, well that's just fucking brilliant. Honestly, Scotgov.

'The Group advises that ending conversion practices will not lead to the
unlawful restriction of existing freedoms – including freedoms of speech,
religion, and belief. The Group’s position is that where expression
creates the potential of significant harm to others, a prohibition of a
practice is justified and necessary as a proportionate way of protecting
the interests of the victims, and does not unlawfully interfere with the
human rights of the providers of conversion practices.'

I'm starting to think it's quite possible that there are people working hard to destroy Scotland from within.

WarriorN · 05/01/2023 08:01

Fuck ing hell.

JustMerkinYourChain · 05/01/2023 04:34

So much of this is about distortion of language and speech. They say banning conversion therapy - when they are the ones championing the ‘transitioning’ of one thing to a pastiche of another. That is the true conversion, one that they’re driving to become irreversible.

Sugarfree23 · 05/01/2023 02:01

It's totally about Scotland trying to be McDifferent.

Labour are just useless but could totally domineer if they stood up against it. So much of this is flying under the radar.

I don't get why this shit keeps happening in Scotland. Historically, it's always been such a grounded, skeptical country, where most people have limited patience with bullshit.

Is it about the desire of the SNP to constantly be as McDifferent as possible - like, Westminster is moving against the TRA/Stonewall line, so we in Scotland need to double down and push the TRA/Stonewall line as aggressively as possible, just to show that we don't like Westminster?

I have a feeling most actual Scots are pretty dismayed by all this. Why can't Labour see the light on this issue, and take advantage of this to engineer a comeback in Scotland.

It must be just that. The only "benefit" of this course of action is to get the GRA binned by Westminster, cue wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Did I just read that 3m for newspapers ?

While we have teachers, nurses, out on strike along with the train & bus drivers, the posties, the Jr Docs are thinking about it.
Anyone else I've failed to mention.

Pay the teachers and nurses with that 3m.

The determination of most of the MSM not to look at this nonsense, and report on it objectively, is bordering on the criminal IMO.

I know papers will follow an editorial ‘shape,’ but how can so many of them be THIS captured? Do the journalists not have kids of their own?

Rainbowshit · 05/01/2023 00:33

Why is it that the lived experiences of certain people classifies them as an expert but that of others (Women) are totally dismissed?

BlackForestCake · 05/01/2023 00:28

When did policy start being made by consulting a panel of nutters and asking them what they want?

The link at the top of the thread by @HirplesWithHaggis gives some detail on the group.

I really wish the media would dig into the people involved in this group.

Given the backstory of at least one of them is horrendous I’d bet there are more stories there that show just how unsuitable they are for making any suggestions or decisions on anything relating to children.

dropthevipers · 05/01/2023 00:14

I've been following this gender bollocks for about 5 years now. I thought I was past being surprised by each fresh idiocy these nutters come up with. Turns out I was wrong, again.

Comprehensive list of dubious folks

beastlyslumber · 05/01/2023 00:12

Terrifying. I left Scotland last year. I didn't feel safe there - was just waiting to be sacked and arrested for wrongthink.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/01/2023 00:09

Children are the foot soldiers of this movement. Look at that the thread about that vile young man indulging in bullying his mother into submission. Without children and young people at the forefront demanding the removal of facts, science and women from society, the sheer number of dodgy adults would be immediately visible. Instead they can hide behind the young people naively pushing this regressive Victorian aged movement

ArtfullyCrumpled · 05/01/2023 00:06

The whole think is unworkable and will end up as another court case at the tax payers expense.

Agree @Pinkbonbon it's getting harder to speak out. I'm seeing so much misogyny and male rage on social media. I've just removed myself from FB - to many people who are sitting there ready to flame.

Rainbowshit · 04/01/2023 23:54

SantaCarlaCalifornia · 04/01/2023 23:52

Why are they so adamant about targeting children? It's really sinister.

I would answer but it'd probably be deleted.

Could post some good PIE recipes though.

I also keep saying we are moving away from Scotland. Need to stay and fight though.

The thing is, I don't think many of my people are worth fighting along side anymore. So many are brainwashed. I even saw a local woman get flamed on reddit the other day for saying she felt uncomfortable in a mixed sex bathroom. The majority of replies were completely unsympathetic. As if she didn't even have the right to her the discomfort.

And sexism appears to be vastly on the rise too if my own experiences are anything to go by. Not to say that couldn't be uk wide of course.

I don't think its going to get better guys. Not before it gets a hell of a lot worse. So I think I'm out here at the first opportunity.

Every bit as nasty an sinister as the named person scheme which was deemed illegal by the UN if I remember correctly.

Eroding Parents rights as well as Womens rights.

And described as totalitarian by a judge...

I feel like I'm in the handmaids tale. Need to move away from Scotland.

I feel the same. I've always wanted an independent Scotland and believed in the snp to get us there. But now I'm done, I'm so done. I can't back a government that doesn't protect its own women. I'm moving away this year. Fuck hanging about in this dystopian nightmare.
