I've seen a photo of the chap wearing eyeshadow in another article. I hate to be shallow, but that's rubbish use of eyeshadow. I know a lot of vicars. The women are still battling the whole 'lady vicar' and 'never kissed a woman in a dog collar' type misogyny. Still having to outperform mediocre men. They certainly wouldn't be well received if they wore eyeshadow like that.

It feels like a woman wearing a fake moustache to get people to take her seriously. Counter productive.

Seems a little unfair that this priest has now 'claimed' that 'honour', although to be fair to them they did say to their knowledge, is your friend completely out within the CofE community? @goldismything I think, and I don't know your age, but a lot of us here seem to be of an era where it was acceptable, True Romantics etc and Madonna! And perms!

But you could actually truly be you but in the body, the only body, you were ever going to have. And most people didn't have a problem. But our choices didn't impact on anyone's else's lives or their rights. And yes there are those that fell into the tiny amount of people that felt wrong. The same tiny amount that had existed in each generation. That truly had to change as much as they could in order to survive their life.

So why suddenly are we seeing this in numbers that statistically dont make sense.

You may be right but teenagers and young people always have angst. I think the number of people who really and truly feel they are in the wrong body into adult hood is actually tiny. It's really important I think to allow especially youngsters to explore and develop without taking every thing they say and feel as how they will feel aged 25! We don't do that in any other way apart from this.

Now I always feel for them, I imagine it's not the greatest of times in their heads for a lot of them, and if they are happier defining themselves as that then fine It's their life as long as their need to define themselves that way had no bearing or intrusion on my life then live and let live.

This person is not the first non binary C of E priest. I know one, they just happen to not be attention seeking or talk about eyeshadow. The one I know is very down to earth (and FTNB)
