Genderfree? I'm not agender or non binary as that implies believing in gender.

In times of old I would have described myself as a Woman, but as non biological women/ transwomen are now women I no longer want to use that word

Trans have spoilt the sex based meaning ot once had.

Wasn't it Granny Weatherwax who said something like yes of course they exist but there's no call to go around believing in them, it just encourages them.

Right! Don't play the game. You are a woman, you are female, and some other people have some strange beliefs.

CallieQ · 18/05/2023 01:07

A woo woo?

caringcarer · 17/05/2023 12:23

You are a woman but not a ciswoman.

Trans allies have to prove their status by their deeds - there will be no end of rules about what one has to do and refrain from doing.

Trans people, on the other hand, merely have to declare their status. No specific actions are required.

Declaration versus deeds. See also, faith versus works

Mmmm I don't know. I was assigned GC at birth and know that sex is real and immutable, but I just feel like my soul is that of a trans ally.

oldwhyno · 17/05/2023 11:12

If I identify as a "trans ally", does that automatically make me one?

You're a person

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/05/2023 10:16

Either everyone has an identity. Or there is no identity.

In what sense? There is only what you personally believe about yourself. I don't have to agree. I don't have an "identity" in the same way genderists do, and I won't have one imposed on me against my will.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 11/05/2023 22:53

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was Granny (about gods rather than Tory bastards).

I don't believe in Tory Bastards but they still exist !

It's starting to sound more and more like utter bollocks

Why is it that these pseudo-intellectuals talking about "subalterns" and "colonialism" never seem to recognise that the universally marginalised group in almost every society is women? That our bodies are colonised by men and the state to produce children? That we are disproportionately likely to die in a car crash (after controlling for things like speed of collision etc) because safety belts, car seats, and air bags are designed for male bodies? And that we can't choosy-choose a new gender identity to escape these very physical oppressions?

They do recognise this, it's foundational to work like this. The oppressions are socially imposed so Paul, for one, did indeed choosy-choose a new identity, as he describes elsewhere in that wonderful speech.

What was expected of me was the execution of the silent, conscientious and reproductive work appropriate to my assigned gender and sexuality. I was expected to grow up to be a dutiful heterosexual girlfriend, a good wife, a good mother, a shy, retiring woman. I grew up listening to whispered stories of young girls being raped, of young women who went to London to have abortions, of
lifelong spinster friends who lived together without ever asserting their sexuality in public – ‘the dykes’, as my father contemptuously referred to them. I was trapped. Had I been nailed to the floor, it would not have reduced my scope for action.

So, since in the heteropatriarchal binary circus women are offered the role of belle or victim, and since I was not and did not feel myself capable of being one or the other, I decided to stop being a woman. Why couldn’t abandoning femininity not become a fundamental tactic of feminism? This amazing association of ideas, lucid and magnificent, must have hatched somewhere in my womb, since women’s creativity is said to reside solely in the uterus.

Mumskisail · 03/05/2023 22:05

How ridiculous - of course you're a woman. So fed up with people trying to cancel women.

Paul B Preciado puts it in his book 'Can the Monster Speak?':

Why is it, my beloved binary friends, that you are convinced that only subalterns possess an identity? Why are you convinced that only Muslims, Jews, queers, lesbians, trans folk, people who live in the banlieues, migrants and Blacks have an identity? Do you therefore believe that you – the normal, the hegemonic, the bourgeois white psychoanalysts, the binary, the patriarchal-colonials – have no identity? There is no identity more rigid and sclerotic than your invisible identity. Than your republican universality. Your weightless, anonymous identity is the privilege of sexual, racial and gender norms. Either everyone has an identity. Or there is no identity. We all occupy a distinct place in a complex network of power relations. To be branded with an identity means simply that one does not have the power to designate one’s identity as universal.

You are either born male or female. There is no 3rd gender .

X or Y chromosomes. What you were born with is what you are . It's really that simple.

Developed Wolffian duct or Mullerian duct. And yes, I know there's new words for those embryonic structures, but I can't spell them.

If your Mullerian duct developed and Wolffian duct atrophied, you are female. You will have part or all of a female reproductive tract, regardless of chromosomes. That's how Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome results in XY females.

If your Wolffian duct developed and Mullerian duct atrophied, you are male and have a partial or complete male reproductive tract.

Live births where there is partial development of both reproductive tracts are so vanishingly rare that, when they occur, they get written up as single-patient case studies in medical journals, like this man. Even then, the person is reproductively male or female, not both, because the hormones needed for spermatogenesis are very different from those needed to sustain a pregnancy.

Define "transgender rights"...

the right of men to ignore women’s boundaries.
