Woman mistaken for a man and challenged

Okay, so I'd like some good old reasoning on this as I appreciate a lot of you are more insightful than me!

I believe men have 0 place in women's toilets, changing families or women only spaces.

But this tripped me up... what do I say to this? It popped up on twitter and I don't know what to argument would be

This woman was questioned because she looks too masculine. But she is indeed a biological woman through and through

What is the answer? I just don't know

The badge situation is very confusing. I thought the NHS did the whole 'hello my name is' introduction as standard. Why would they have their surname on a badge like a kid in the upper third at Eton?

I agree. This NHS website shows a different design for NHS badges…
www.england.nhs.uk/nhsidentity/examples/nhs-staff-identification-badge/

So what is going on here?

RunLolaRun102 · 29/12/2022 23:41

I only know one woman who looks so masculine you would think she’s male at first glance. She’s a 60 year old body builder with short hair and doesn’t mind being challenged when in female spaces. Real women don’t mind. It’s only men masquerading as women who don’t understand.

But, this is happening in public toilets per the article, not hospital toilets at work. Why would Tiffany be wearing a name badge of any kind when off work and using a public toilet??

Have they? If they had and Tiffany were their dead name, then why is it used repeatedly throughout an article published 3 days ago and also is their name on their Facebook page?

Again, Taylor is her surname. It clearly says so in the article.
Tiffany Liles - Taylor.

Twitter is notorious for fake news including doctored photos and videos.
I have looked to see that photo elsewhere, it seems to have come from the article - which doesn't show any pronouns as they seem to have been blurred out
So goodness knows where they have come from in that tweet 😕 doesn't seem very reliable when can't see it mentioned anywhere else

Exactly, it’s like someone lifted the photo from the article and then did a bit of photoshopping to doctor it.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 29/12/2022 23:32

which may or may not be doctored..as there is no source for it.
Exactly

I read the article, It clearly says Taylor is her surname.

Same here. But some Twitter poster has put up a photo showing a clear name badge…which may or may not be doctored..as there is no source for it.

I still doubt it though. Just like I doubted the Twitter video that showed doctors in Wuhan going round with guns and shooting covid patients. Twitter is notorious for fake news including doctored photos and videos. 🤷‍♀️

Taylor isn’t a male name? It’s unisex, but predominantly female
www.famousbirthdays.com/names/taylor.html

The masculine presentation isn’t intended, they’re a butch lesbian.

I read the article, It clearly says Taylor is her surname.

I've been misgendered many times.

Do you think the papers will be interested?

Onnabugeisha · 29/12/2022 23:10

dementedpixie · 29/12/2022 21:10

Does their name badge not say Taylor and that they use They/Them pronouns?

It's a very suspect story

Their name is Tiffany. Taylor is their surname. 🙄

JellySaurus · 29/12/2022 23:09

a trans woman in there going about her business and probably doesn't even give a toss about what others are doing in there

That's rather the problem. That TW invade women's spaces and don't give a toss about the women in there.

Yes, I know it's not what you meant, but male rights activists rarely recognise the rights of women, and instead use language to mean exactly what they want it to mean at that moment, in order to give away anything that is women's..

ArabellaScott · 29/12/2022 23:07

That's a real shame for ... is it her, or they? I honestly don't even know. I have checked, but there seems to be pronoun confusion. Glad she/they is over the cancer and I hope she/they continues to recover.

So, if they is a 'they' then how are they being 'misgendered' if they is in the women's loos?

Jackfrostnipping · 29/12/2022 23:06

It's possible to want single sex toilets without making comments like this about this woman's appearance "she does look quite masculine. I can't think she's not an amateur weightlifter with forearms like those"

It's possible to not want men in women's toilets but still see women being challenged as a regrettable outcome.

I didn't ever worry before this nonesense about being challenged. I do now. (although never have been). Are you suggesting this is untrue?

PriOn1 · 29/12/2022 23:02

I can believe that many masculine women are asked occasionally if they are in the right space. This has always happened. It was never suggested that this was harrassment. There must be a tiny number of women who found it rather frustrating, but sometimes life is frustrating. It certainly didn’t make the news anywhere.

By an astonishing coincidence, at exactly the same time men began to claim they were women and insisted on using women’s spaces, a behaviour that was previously a normal part of life for a few women has suddenly become much more widespread and is somehow newsworthy?

Coincidentally, some women who are obviously female, even in pictures have started to experience this phenomenon incredibly often.

Of course the women who claim it’s harrassment are usually very much in favour of men using women’s spaces, some of the most vocal holding political positions lobbying for transactivism, but of course that’s another coincidence too.

It’s also coincidental that something that was previously an occasional inconvenience is now harrassment, to the point where fear is experienced.

Aren’t all these coincidences astonishing?

Catandcoffee zero?!

puffyisgood · 29/12/2022 22:51

she does look quite masculine. I can't think she's not an amateur weightlifter with forearms like those. but if someone felt worried enough to challenge her, a simple reply would have been easily sufficient to calm things down, a few words (any words, including words indicating that offence had been taken) spoken in an even halfway plausibly female voice, which by the looks of things this lady will certainly have, would clear it all up.

catandcoffee · 29/12/2022 22:50

I'd love to know how many "women" play with their breasts like a stress ball. 🙄
