I have it on good authority that the government are listening and taking note.

Boiledbeetle · 07/01/2023 20:29

To show how the anger does grow

The women are pissed

Because Nicola hissed

😂 Illford FTW!

nilsmousehammer · 06/01/2023 14:55

Bravo Illford! Here despite everything!

ArabellaScott · 06/01/2023 14:53

Yay Ilford!!!!

Er, I'm really sorry to hear about the youngest. Eek!

OP posts:
IlfordSouth · 06/01/2023 12:26

Yeah sorry about that, the dog got out then the youngest fell over. 20 hours at A & E, but she's stitched up and fine now. Plus in the rush we left the pet rat out and came home to discover he had eaten through the cables for the Wi-Fi router. and after the New Year I was completely out of mobile data.

But anyway I've done it now. Hope it goes well.

REMEMBER ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY IN EVERY SINGLE CONSTITUENCY SOMEONE IS ANNOYED ENOUGH TO HAVE DECIDED THAT

WOMEN WON'T WHEESHT

Ilford South x

Sits on hands. And waits for Simone else to do it. I'd be the first suspect at the moment.

(Now I used to have a lovely little word on my tablet. "Someone". Very useful got used quite a lot so no time for someone to start getting bored or anything. Then one day I discovered that "Someone" had been reading to many of the frankly suspect web pages I've clicked on of late and is now identifying as "Simone" . Someone was really helpful. Simone is a self indulged, navel gazing little bleeeeeep and is driving me nuts.)

IcakethereforeIam · 06/01/2023 09:49

Ilford South has a Wikipedia page. Would be a pity if someone were to go over there and.....edit itWink

Boiledbeetle · 06/01/2023 09:03

Just listening to Celine Dion and I thought of Ilford South

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Living alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home
All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself
Anymore

I think we've located the angriest women on Te*f Island.

Just thought I'd check in. The RSE petition might break 10,000 before I've finished typing this sentence. Including, I'm sorry Beetle, over 25 from Ilford South.

🤔😐😶😥😠

It's vernacular, Beetle, so I don't think there is necessarily an accepted spelling. And I think most Scottish women will be delighted to hear other women use the term however they spell or pronounce it.

Just on a practical level, though, if you're using it to try to silence, say, a child, 'wheest' is a bit wishy washy. 'WHEESHT' has more fricative force. IMHO.

You see having checked my oldest use of it that was what I went for. But I obviously did a bad cut and paste at some point and lost the h in the process. And as I've been having to look at the screen with one eye shut whilst squinting (must go to the opticians this year!) through the other, I think I was blind to it being missing in action.

It's hard enough just trying to stop the wordss 💃 a'll over the place!

Are no words safe?

Won't someone think of the words!!!

ArabellaScott · 05/01/2023 07:57

Here's the science:

'Let's start with the sibilants "s" and "sh", in the upper right of Figure 5. They are by far the loudest fricatives. The darkest part of [s] noise is off the top of the spectrograms, even though these spectrograms have a greater frequency range than the others on this page. [s] is centered (darkest) above 8000 Hz. The postalveolar "sh", on the other hand, while almost as dark, has most of its energy concentrated in the F3-F4 range. Often, [s]s will have noise at all frequencies, where, as here, the noise for [ʃ] seems to drop off drastically below the peak (i.e. there's sometimes no noise below 1500 or 2000 Hz.) [z] and [ʒ] are distinguished from their voiceless counterparts by a) lesser amplitude of frication, b) shorter duration of frication and c) a voicing bar across the bottom'

home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~robh/howto.html

Slighly ironic that one looks to maximise volume/force in a word designed to silence. Perhaps that inherent tension is part of what powers a useful motto.

And here's the linguistic history:

dsl.ac.uk/entry/snd/whisht

'WHISHT, int., v., n., adj. Also wheesht, wheisht; weesht, weisht, wisht, woosht; wheest, wh(e)ist, whust, wiest; wheesh, whish, whush, whoosh, wish; quish (Sc. 1887 Jam.). Also wishtie, whistie ( < wheesht ye). [ʍɪʃt, ʍiʃt; ʍist, ʍɪst; wiʃt, wɪʃt; ʍiʃ]'

So there you go.

I just took my own advice and watched this again (I've watched it rather a few times now!)

Every bloody time she has in me in tears before half way through. Every time.

It is beautiful.

Hey I hope that this helps all angry women to take heart!! It may have been posted before but it should be heard far and wide.

A beautiful voice of hope.

Just gave myself a heart attack was about to press post and realised I wasn't the beetle!!!!!!!

Has given me the chance to get fresh screen grabs though. Still waiting on IS.

That rectified on with the business of the day.

I have been and checked my wheeeeeeeessshhtttt???? Spelling. As you'll have noticed my tablet can't spell (and as i can't either I'm screwed), and hates me.

So, I originally travelled many pages through the internet to determine the correct amount out Es and Hs and Ss and saved what I hoped was the correct combination.

Then I needed my second tablet to do angry map watch.

Sigh.

The other tablet has, I've just discovered, just about every version of ESH wheeeeeshhts! you can imagine, including all the lovely cut and paste ones where you find you have chopped the last letter off!

Can someone let me know what the accepted (don't want to upset or annoy a load of already angry women) spelling of wheeeeeeeeeeeesht is as I fear I've used the wrong one on more than one occasion recently.

Apologies.

From reading @IcakethereforeIam post, unless they've all moved recently there are we know at least 37 people who have an issue with the Equality Act in Ilford South. So I think we can absolutely, based on that plus every other constituency currently has at least one pissed of woman in it, assume the women off Ilford South are with us on this.

as @Ritasueandbobtoo9 noted when she posted the poem below:

Ilford South is an ethically very diverse borough Rita suggested translating her poem into various languages / read in the hope of a good response.

Sisters here and sisters there,

Tell your friends you need to share,

Help your friends to read and sign

and change the tide to truth this time.

Finally, and if you haven't yet clicked then please click on the link in @Helleofabore post. It's worth a couple of minutes of your time. It's beautiful.

Right tea and fag time.
