Does anyone know what the deal is with her? She wrote a thread about being commissioned to write a hit piece on JK Rowling but in doing research found nothing transphobic and decided to speak out about it. I thought it was great and really good that it got some attention for JKR.

Now I’m seeing on Twitter everyone seems to be slagging her off and I can’t quite work out why. It’s not just trans rights activists, it’s the gender critical lot that seem to be gunning for her just as hard. She seems to have been asking for stories of abusive males but I’m not sure why that’s so terrible. People are always sharing their experiences of abuse on Twitter and obviously no one has to share if they don’t want to.

Can anyone fill me in? I feel I’ve missed something but I don’t know what.

Yes. I think she fancies herself as some kind of double agent spying for both TRAs and gender critical women.

There have been a few such people, who have gone from TRA to GC but but then revert. I guess we will see.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/01/2023 10:31

There is something v fishy going on with that EJ Rosetta.

Recent Tweet in white, message to trans activist in black.

Posted days earlier in the thread.

It’s all so manipulative & curated, isn’t it?

Shame both sides can see right through it and she's made herself look ridiculous.

TinselAngel · 11/01/2023 13:04

Yes, we're not disagreeing Smile

She's either trying to imply that she was vetted and approved, or she's trying to make a snide point that if she got through the vetting then any bad actor can.

Which is not true because you don't have to be verified to buy a ticket for a SFW party or speak at their events.

I know that. Anyone can walk up & ask for a selfie & nobody’s going to run a background check first.

I’m talking about how Rosetta is using the photo, in context.

SFW vets people for their locals (as do WRN), EJR clearly doesn’t. But she’s trying to suggest KJK vetted or approved her.

Maybe her end game is showing women have nefarious intentions as well as men.

I wonder if EJ Rosetta is the person writing Jack Monroe’s memoir. They seem compatible.

It’s her saying “look, I’ve been verified & here’s me, endorsed by KJK to prove it”.

I just saw that and thought the same thing, so it's not just you.

TinselAngel · 10/01/2023 23:14

She tweets like somebody who is trying to make her mates laugh and assuming thateveryone else is too stupid to notice.

Helleofabore · 10/01/2023 23:04

And I am not disagreeing.

TinselAngel · 10/01/2023 23:02

I can't read it any other way than sarcastic.

Helleofabore · 10/01/2023 22:44

That is an interesting take.

It is clear that SFW were talking about their local groups and the steps to check identity of those who join and communicate within the groups.

That tweet seems to be talking about events that are not necessarily restricted to the local groups.

What big secret was supposed to be exposed anyway?

The GC position is entirely upfront and transparent. None of it's secret.

At most you'll see a bit of crowing if things go the gc way. Or the odd gloat. It's hardly red hot and classified.

I think most people must have seen the degree to which that ‘expose’ of Scottish feminists was anti-climactic.

Oohhhh.. women had a picnic that was pre-organised and didn’t join in on a protest about an issue in a whole other country, organised by males intent on virtue signalling.

And those pesky women organised themselves to get in early and get seats to watch their elected members of parliament make laws, in a public gallery, designed just for that purpose.

Ooh! Aaah! Oh, and some extra spicy discussion where women disagreed with each other.

Sensational!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/01/2023 02:34

Yes Grin

NotBadConsidering · 07/01/2023 02:25

I think some people genuinely believe that GC people and feminists are actually transphobic and have secret links and funding from far right Christian organisations, and if our guard is down we will reveal all in secret recordings, but it will take a high level of journalistic infiltration to uncover. They think they’re all Woodward and Bernstein 🙄.

No idea. But it reads like deliberate obfuscation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2023 23:58

She's a very odd person, isn't she? What's with the #72tribes stuff? It looks like the only reference is to Zambian independence.

Sazzasez · 06/01/2023 23:36

Now implying that the claims by “Freda Wallace” - who participated in one of the spaces - are untrue. But not actually denying them, & making lots of sigh! This is too tedious to deal with noises.

Her responses to Eva Kurilova on this thread are not particularly inspiring of confidence.

I don't really understand what's happening in those tweets. Can someone who's made sense of it explain it?

The clips are quite confusing. They appear to be a mixture of her speaking in interviews and the Twitter "space" with comments posted over to indicate a date or something that the Tweeter wants to highlight as being noteworthy. There's quite a lot of vagueness about who she works for and the type of work that she's doing and whether or not she has been fired or not. Also it's very vague what her actual position on trans activism has been over the last 7 or 8 years.

It Seems that in 2015 she wrote a blog that put her squarely in TERF territory...

ejrosetta.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/cissexism-the-new-lgbt-term-no-one-understands/

She then later wrote an article on being a "recovered terf" (I think in 2020).

Her story seems to be that she's always been adverse to the word cis since the 2015 article but she's had to keep it private so that she didn't get cancelled but at the same time wrote articles on being a recovered TERF and believing that JKR is transphobic even though she'd never read what JK had written.

Basically she's all over the place. Nothing adds up. For someone who has been dwelling on this stuff since 2015 I would expect a lot more consistency.

Eustonia · 06/01/2023 16:02

@RoyalCorgi

The gist is that she is a liar and in reality a trans activist.
