It’s an LBC article I saw on Apple News.

“Some 7.1 million people were on the waiting list in October, with 400,000 waiting for more than a year. Mr Brown said he understood that his group’s demands could seem outrageous in this context.”

God help us. That trans activist is very ill-informed, no surprise there, and the article is so badly written.

One of the big problems with having an op abroad, pretty much any op, is that if you get complications after you've returned home the NHS has to sort it. We don't have the skills in the UK to do this surgery, apart from in the one private hospital mentioned, so how would that even play out when the complication rate for phalloplasty seems to hover around 80%?

Pie in the sky and I really think (and hope) that this bonkers idea won't be entertained for one moment.

Ridiculous these surgeries aren’t deemed elective and the person playing for themselves.

There’s loads of cosmetic surgery I would loved to have - lifts and tucks - that would improve my mental health, however I’ve got to suck it up, and save for private.

It should be reviewed by NICE because I cannot believe it is ethically or financially justified given the huge complication rates.

Especially as many of those advocating fir young people to have these surgeries and interventions have not actually done anything to themselves.

The waiting is doing them a favour. Its a surgery with a high failure rate in the US there's surgeon performing them.with 18 pending lawsuits.

The nhs should not be paying for young adults with healthy bodies to be left with hand disabilities and incontinence. Which are amongst the common and severe complication lists.

Its most definately a surgery that comes under the heading "just because we can doesn't mean we should "

When I think of the hoops women have to jump through to get basic healthcare, HRT, to be able to have breast reductions when they are in pain every day… well it’s just pathetic.

The demands are outrageous. The NHS is on its knees, can’t keep up with current demands of health problems that people actually need fixed, so I wants should be the lowest priority. Either wait the time, or go private if you can afford it.
