Excuse the DM link

Awful. Poor girl.

What I find interesting is the shift in reporting. The article consistently uses the name Orton rather than referring to him as “she”. In fact it quotes a source referring to Orton as “he”. And is also going to a male prison - good.

Anyone want to guess if mom and daughter argued about her being with "her friend" because mum was transphobic?

Agree , I would guess that . And I would replace the term "transphobic" with
" spotted a wrong un " a mile off .

Luckily the law does not agree with self ID and it’s going to a male prison.

Again,
a person with a penis.

Thanks OhHolyJesus. I'll look at their websites. I feel it needs to be a better publicised campaign. And yes to writing in.

Kanaloa · 30/11/2022 11:27

I love too that the article has specially said he could access the girl because of his ‘gender identity.’ They’re making it clear that the trans facade is not a coincidence. He isn’t a predator who happened to be trans, or a ‘woman’ who turned out to be a predator. He is a male predator (of course, the overwhelming majority are male) who found a good way in.

It's my view that no mand can ever be any kind of women, so the word "transwomen" is inaccurate and unnecessary. They are all men.

Nyan, is there a difference between transwomen and men posing as transformed? How can we tell which is which?

It’s relevant that he identified as a transwoman - if not he wouldn’t have been as easily able to access young girls. It should be said as much as possible that a transwoman did this to highlight how/why this identity helps men transcend boundaries.

Poor girl. I hope she is able to access some support. Doesn’t bear thinking about.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 30/11/2022 11:23

“Judge Timothy Spencer KC said: 'You are a self-pitying and self-obsessed individual.”

Hmm, what does that description remind me of…? 🧐

Oh, that’s it: pretty much every TRA, ever.

Wiccan · 30/11/2022 11:14

If that had been my daughter I would have changed that bastard from a rooster to a hen no problem !!

This madness has to be stopped !

serendipitea · 30/11/2022 10:49

I think if the poor girl hadn't got pregnant the media would have reported that "woman grooms girl". However, even with the best will in the world they wouldn't be able to get away with "woman gets girl pregnant". So they had to accept reality in a small way.

I’ve heard it said on another thread that the child involved consented at the time. Rape is non consensual penetration. It used to be that under 16s couldn’t consent to sex due to their age but there have been rule changes for 13-15 year olds.

Well who does that rule change benefit 🤔

I tonight they didnt prosecute if it was teens of a similar age even if underage.

Surely it's not supposed to apply to adults. You cant say she was groomed then say the sex was consensual. Which is it?

I don't understand why media outlets don't all pushback on the IPSO guidelines. Is anyone working on this? It's been going on for years.

This is a much better report. Accurate and centres the victim and her family.

www.leics.police.uk/news/leicestershire/news/2022/november/prison-sentence-for-a-man-who-groomed-and-sexually-abused-a-teenage-girl/

Fair Play For Women are working on this, and Sex Matters I think. If readers write in it also shows a level of distrust of the media coverage and the regulators should be aware. Not every newspaper is signed up to IPSO though. Pretty sure the Guardian isn't.

Another connected issue is the Equal Treatment Bench Book - this has been covered in this board before - if the court is forced to use preferred pronouns then Court Reporters will also. The two are connected and the influence for the ETBB is clear. A quick search will reveal all.

That poor poor girl.

But if course it never happens. No transwoman would do this. Blah blah blah

Stop offering up our daughters to males so you can look good.

Wtf has to happen.

How on earth was this male not charged with rape. Please tell me its not because the UK definition has it listed as a male crime?

Or did the justice system just want to avoid giving us another rape as an example of why this ideology is so dangerous.

But this never happens
Presumably this predator used HER penis to abuse this child?

Yes. Importantly, this article includes the judge's very powerful statement too. Which I think, should have be added to any report:

Judge Spencer described the defendant during his sentencing summary.
He said: “You are a self-pitying and self-obsessed individual who shows no detectable empathy and not a shred of remorse for your actions”.

“Those actions have destroyed a mother and daughter relationship at a time when they should have been close, caused devastation to the wider family and taken away the teenaged years of a child that can never be re-lived.”

ArabellaScott · 30/11/2022 09:30

Yes, exactly, WomaninBoots.

WomaninBoots · 30/11/2022 09:28

There is no material difference between "genuine transwoman" and "man identifying as/disguised as transwoman". None. By their own definitions. They are what they say they are.

This rapist was a transwoman.

ArabellaScott · 30/11/2022 09:19

When I read 'transwoman', I read 'male'. I guess it's similar to 'drag queen' as a word/phrase, in that I understand the meaning to be 'male'.

Some prefer 'trans identified male', yep. I don't think we're allowed to use the acronym on here, though.

The identity of the person involved is absolutely crucial, though, and I think here it is perhaps most clear when we use the word that trans activists use, too, because we are told repeatedly by people like Nicola Sturgeon/Shona Robison that "abusive men are the risk to women, not transwomen" and :

'“there is no evidence that predatory men have ever had to pretend to be anything else to carry out predatory behaviour".'

twitter.com/andrewdoyle_com/status/1500594329139748865?lang=en

This is a very clear - and upsetting - case that illustrates the issues with both of those positions.

You can write to IPSO on

[email protected]

I'll be writing in to all three in way of support for the child who was raped as by not referring to the rapist correctly harms her further. How dare they do this.

@NyanBinaryJohn

I don’t think they’ve got a choice due to the code I linked above. Maybe I’m wrong. But yes it’s ridiculous. I’ve seen some crazy reporting

We can't. Which is the problem.

But when they use their male parts to commit VAWG then it's pretty clear cut, no? Especially when there is a lack of a GRC.

Still, trans identified male makes more sense.

I just can't get over the fact that some publications rather address him as a TW than do justice to the poor victim.

But that's ok. It never happens.

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 29/11/2022 23:32

How the fuck did he think he was the victim in this?

radrado · 29/11/2022 23:27

Stonewall includes good old fashioned cross-dressers in their definition of trans women.
