In The Times:

Zero tolerance event bans talk of single sex spaces

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/6706e702-6f72-11ed-8a5b-f385de7508fe?shareToken=732040628914a5ae28102b14f150cb6b

"Sturgeon’s speech, due to be delivered about halfway through the event, is expected to last be about 20 minutes. is due to deliver the main speech, which is due to last 20 minutes, around half way through the event.

The decision might have been made to “save the blushes of the first minister”, suggested Marion Calder, director of For Women Scotland.

She praised Zero Tolerance’s work but said: “Thirty years on, Scottish women must be wondering what has happened to this organisation.”"

Well done that woman, and those outside too.

ArcaneWireless · 29/11/2022 18:58

Fair play to that woman.

And all Nicola had to show for it there was a tight little letterbox mouth.

ArcaneWireless · 29/11/2022 18:55

Ah. Is that the one who suggested rape victims needed to reframe their trauma and have a positive relationship with it?

That explains a lot. And I daresay I would struggle to summon up a positive comment about either of them.

Reframe that.

ResisterRex · 29/11/2022 18:54

Looks like it went well

Nicola's pal being at the event makes it obvious why women were told they weren't allowed to talk about single sex spaces -

To be fair to Zero Tolerance, if you want Scottish Government funding (which I think they get) you are required to believe TWAW.

radrado · 29/11/2022 18:20

Unbelievable. Or believable. Feel like I’m in some dystopian nightmare. Have written to my MSPs and not had one response.

I liked this reply to JKR on twitter.

A woman addressed Sturgeon directly and was thrown out -

And this was outside the venue -

Amazing women. Scottish women aren't going to wheesht. Ever.

Apparently on JKRs thread someone said a woman on Zoom said something so they turned the Zoom off. Trying to find out more

Numsmetbunfight · 29/11/2022 14:09

That would be quite the optics, to see lots of blank pieces of paper held up at the Q&A

Whoputtheramintheramalamadingdong · 29/11/2022 14:02

Sturgeon is silencing any questions about it bc she knows she's talking absolute bollocks. She cannot answer the questions she knows women want to ask as there are no intelligent answers - the issue will be shown up for the nonsensical bullshit it is and she can't allow that.

She doesn't care though. It's all about her woke agenda and she'll just bulldoze through as many policies as she can, allowing no questions to be asked.

JKR has tweeted:

"I'd say this is unbelievable, but of course it isn't. When our First Minister attends an event about male violence towards women and girls, the last thing she wants is some uppity woman mentioning the importance of female-only refuges or crisis centres."

I wish JKR was First Minister.

Scotland would be a much better place.

Ramblingnamechanger · 29/11/2022 13:39

Hope there will be loads of white paper carrying women there, inside or out.

ArcaneWireless · 29/11/2022 13:37

When you refuse to discuss or even hear a valid point pertaining to your own belief, you know deep down you are wrong.

Just admit it.

Whereareyourshoes · 29/11/2022 13:19

Thank you for the link.

‘A note sent to attendees said it wanted “to create a safe and supported environment for our guests and ask you to support us in this aim by refraining from discussions of the definition of a woman, and single sex spaces, in relation to the gender recognition act”.

It added: “As feminists we have strong opinions on these subjects, but this is not the place for that conversation.”’

Where is the place for the conversation? Who is allowed to have it? What is the point of this gathering if they are not allowed to discuss relevant issues?

THANK YOU anyone who goes there today! I'm hoping the Times has a mole inside the event..

I don’t see how they can enforce “not asking politically embarrassing questions I can’t answer”. She’s just relying on women’s socialisation.

Yes. And I hope some women will be brave enough to stand up and ask.

Honest to God, I just know that somewhere out there George Orwell is shouting, 'I tried to warn you!'

HopRockers · 29/11/2022 11:24

so a discussion about VAWG that doesn't include a definition of who these people are or the simplest safeguarding measure
Aye right

Feart are you Sturgeon?

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2022 11:23

'Organisations providing services to women have responded directly in detail to these concerns, you can read some of their responses here: Edinburgh Rape Crisis, Forth Valley Rape Crisis.'

Of course both of these Rape Crisis centres have one very relevant person in common.

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2022 11:23

ZeroTolerance's comments on self ID:

'This inclusive approach has not given rise to any concern or challenges. Rather, trans women have added to our movements'

'We strongly advocate that Scotland should bring forward legislation to introduce a self-declaration system for legal gender recognition and take action to recognize non-binary people'

'It is our position that trans and non-binary rights are integral to, and contribute to, feminism'

BlackForestCake · 29/11/2022 11:17

She is totally dependent on the Greens to get any legislation passed. And the Greens have been completely captured by gender ideology.

While this is true and the Scottish Greens are irredeemably batshit, the SNP has its own layer of fanatics, and that is Sturgeon’s power base within the party.
