@ThisIsMyGCname Balenciaga did a photoshoot involving young children posing with what can only be described as teddies in bondage gear. They’ve “apologised”.

TheABC · 25/11/2022 20:35

I am more pissed off that she will never be answerable for all the damage she has caused to children.

zaramysaviour · 25/11/2022 20:35

I don't have anything to add... but what AMAZING news!

Happylittlechicken · 25/11/2022 20:30

Even the Darren bloke who got fired has commented. I think he’s pleased.

Sounds very much like they are going to roll up all the failures, bad publicity, etc., and pin it all on SG, the cries of Weren't me it was her will be deafening.

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 20:33

In time when this is all a distant memory the film about this crazy time in history is never going to be able to truly portray in their flicking through the years montages how this one woman crusade of a charity has managed to help bring us to this awful place and time in history. They just won't be able to do it justice to show the devastation she helped cause.

StillWeRise · 25/11/2022 20:32

I've been saying for years that this is going to be a combination of Kids Company and the Thalidomide scandal x 100.

Me too, in fact I said exactly this in my email to my TWAW labour MP- just wondering now at what point I should remind them of this

dropthevipers · 25/11/2022 20:31

Having read this entire thread, the total absence of any support for green might suggest, to the casual observer, that mermaids is an indefensible clusterfuck of biblical proportions, or some such.

BordoisAgain · 25/11/2022 20:27

I've scrolled through a lot of the quote tweets and have only seen 5 or 6 that are supportive of Green 🤔

And they have all turned replies off too.

Faffertea · 25/11/2022 20:30

I’m cynical enough to think she’s gone so they can do a “nothing to see here” act in the hope of retaining influence over the new regional trans health centres being set up.

Released late on a Friday to try to minimise it. Can't blame them!

As they say on The West Wing, “put it out with the trash”.

KatMcBundleFace · 25/11/2022 20:25

Tick fucking tock

PoTayToes80 · 25/11/2022 19:24

I think this smells like they are realising their liability and want to be seen to be cleaning their own house.

This has the potential to be like Kid’s Company.

It's comparable in that I'm sure we'll be seeing the Great and the Good backing away at abrate of knots. Kids Company didn't encourage sterilisation and mutilation of children though.

I've been saying for years that this is going to be a combination of Kids Company and the Thalidomide scandal x 100.

@Busygoingblah good to hear

Given the apologies from Balenciaga in the face of those grim photos, the silence from Mermaids in the face of staff paedophile supporters and adults posting extreme porn images of themselves while they're actively working with children seems .... negligent to say the least Confused

What happens at Balenciaga?

Happylittlechicken · 25/11/2022 20:23

IcakethereforeIam · 25/11/2022 20:21

@Happylittlechicken if you're serious about this it has to be done by the buck... buck, buck-buck....buuuuck!

Right, on that note I'm just off to dismantle all the feckin' elf traps and set some pixie traps.

I’m so so serious. Good tip for pixie traps… cake…. @IcakethereforeIam thats why they do you’re teeth covers, they’re attracted to the cake in your name….

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 20:21

@BenCoopersSupportWren I truly hope that with the sudden free time she has on her hands that she actually stops and thinks about the harm she helped cause to so many children including her own child.

My biggest hope is that mermaids call it a day and fold, but if they do go forward they need to change everything about how they operate.

Busygoingblah · 25/11/2022 20:20

They sent a whole staff email round at my nhs trust this week telling us we weren’t allowed to signpost to mermaids anymore due to safeguarding concerns being investigated.

ZeldaFighter · 25/11/2022 20:20

But she doesn't work here anymore so it's all OK now.

So please stop investigating us.

ZeldaFighter · 25/11/2022 20:19

"The trustees are very grateful to Susie for everything she has done over the last six years....to build Mermaids into the organisation it is today."

And it's all her fault.

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 20:15

@Happylittlechicken ooh yes a few of us could do each others, only need about five different people, that should do it. Couple of papers quotingg each others matching experiment data and it will be proven fact within a week.

sounds Like a plan @Boiledbeetle we’ll make clownfish a thing of the past.

Didn't someone, on a thread somewhere, once post the early, original mermaid approach - pre Susie Green. If anyone still has that it would be great to look at it again? It was much as you described Ben, as I recall it

Exactly, that’s why I said get back to.

Susie Green turned Mermaids from a supportive charity doing valuable work for confused, unhappy children into a personal crusade to validate her own very questionable decisions for her son. If thousands of other parents put their children through a similar process on her recommendation then she must have been right all along, mustn’t she?

I wonder if her conscience ever allows her a moment of doubt? If she ever has any 3.00am waking nightmares of “shit, what have I done??”
