"Kindness" got kids unnecessary surgery and life changing hormone treatment which rendered them infertile and facing lifelong medical problems.

Parents were complicit in many many cases.

This needs to be not sanitised. Parents have duty of care responsibilities.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2022 00:32

I hope the parents are treated as they should be.

Exactly.
Sorry it's something you understand all too well, RedToothBrush. Flowers

Stonewall next to crumble we hope.

I get that , and agree.

i just hope the children caught up with this now, and their families are treated with kindness.

I hope the parents are treated as they should be.

There are three separate groups here:

Parents who said no and raised hell at every possible stage to safeguard their child.

Parents who blindly accepted everything they were told and failed to engage their brains and safeguard their child.

Parents who actively cheered or actually led the chain of events and didn't care to safeguard their child.

Now I'm the child of one of these sets of parents and it's not the first.

There is an active choice, including the passive just go along with it option.

I only have time and sympathy for one group mentioned above, and I hope parents are treated in the manner they deserve tbh. Within the remit of the law and using the law where appropriate.

I'm sorry but parents do have a responsibility to ensure their child isn't harmed. Staying quiet in that scenario is not the right decision.

RhannionKPSS · 26/11/2022 00:23

I bet the next CEO will be a trans woman, possibly an ex army officer...

oneaday · 26/11/2022 00:16

Since the lottery put their grant payments on hold they may well not have enough in the bank for the payroll.

"Kindness" aka lying got us into this mess.

I know I'm harsh, but I am so so angry that homophobic ever got near any sort of power. I'm so sorry for every family lied to, and sorry for all the abuse we've put up with for pointing out this evil.

I have skin in this.

My sibling was an adult.

I don't see happy endings as the rule in the long run.

And i know that Green's child is an adult now but many many vulnerable children will be feeling a lot of pain. T'hey need some very very careful handling. lots of people have lied to them. I just feel so desperately sorry for them .

Janice Turner did a twitter thread yesterday criticising the Guardian and Amelia Gentleman for FINALLY asking the right questions about the sudden rise of trans identifying teenage girls and doing an article about it.

She made the point that she started doing this 5 years ago and women like Hadley were effectively bullied out of the Guardian.

This week the Guardian also ran an interview with Susie Green defending Mermaids. A decision which begs a few questions. We're the Guardian caught massively off guard, did Susie know the writing was on the wall and wanted to get her defence in first or did the Guardian see the writing on the wall finally?

And Susie Green has now left Mermaids.

In this above mentioned twitter thread from Janice are the following comments about Amelia Gentlemen:

Pete Marshall at petemarshall
She seems to accept uncritically that “gender “ dysphoria exists. In reality body dysphoria is a common problem in adolescents particularly girls. It’s social contagion that this now manifests as gender rather than other forms of self harm. AGP men have deliberately created this

Adhip at adhip
Important point.

The language games played around this topic are mind-bending. This is all about sex, sexism, and in almost all the cases of those older males, a paraphilic obsession.

Truth Hertz at djbraymond
It’s no coincidence that most trans identified females are young girls and most trans identified males are older men…

I am highlighting them in the context of a charity which has promoted the transitioning of children (a substantial amount who are girls), there is this pattern of young girls and middle aged men being the two key demographics and the chronic safeguarding fails (including the padeo friend and the willy wonder guy) at Mermaids which have now led to the departure of their safeguarding lead.

This become an unavoidable inconvenient problem for Mermaids.

I think we will start to see more conversations about this dynamic appearing.

Ultimately Mermaids have an existential problem in the wake of the Cass Review, its own safeguarding car crashes, growing evidence and concerns about sport, detransitioning legal cases starting and people starting to spot the social contagion problem.

This also leaves Stonewall and all its rainbow buddies in an ever increasing pickle.

What happens to Mermaids definitely has implications elsewhere.

So is this a damage limitation exercise and if it is who benefits exactly? Or is it an admission of Mermaids completely unravelling?

Its actually difficult to tell at this stage.

Susie Green clearly isn't in this camp but she certainly falls foul of the Cass review observation about homophobic parents. And thats problematic too in the context of the law on homosexuality being same sex not same gender. And that in turn is problematic in the context of the Mermaids litigation against the LGB Alliance.

So Mermaids - and in particular Susie Green - are stuck in the middle of these two forces developing. Could Susie stay? She should never have got the job as someone who freely admitted to the press she bypassed ethics and safeguarding in the uk.

It will be very intriguing to see how the next couple of weeks play out.

How fast will pronouns start to get dropped by companies who suddenly realise that promoting this stuff, maybe isn't as progressive as they thought...

LaughingPriest · 25/11/2022 23:43

I'm not optimistic that this is any realisation or turning point (I hope I'm wrong...)

I wonder if they'll get a cuddly Nancy Kelley type to say all the homophobic things, or someone more political and 'with it' than Susie. Likely an outspoken trans person.

Datun · 25/11/2022 23:41

I wonder if Jackie is detransitioning.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 25/11/2022 23:40

I hope that Jackie and Jazz Jennings live long and happy lives completely ifnorant about what their mothers did to them.

Well said. Society has not just stood by, but actively funded and enabled groups like Mermaids from the very top of government, the media and entertainment.
The harm done to children is unthinkable and yes, they need thoughtful and loving care as they come to terms with what's been done to their once perfect bodies and their futures.

BellaAmorosa · 25/11/2022 23:39

MoirasSaggyBundles · 25/11/2022 21:37

Suing the mother for personal injury, procuring bodily harm through puberty blockers, followed by a coercive operation in a foreign country, where the child could not reasonably have been a consenting party.

Not just the mother. Don't let the father off the hook. He could have accepted his gay child. He could have prevented the trip to Thailand. He could have shut down the social transition and administration of puberty blockers.
SG took her child for the operation, but both parents are culpable.

lifeturnsonadime · 25/11/2022 23:31

Ok so what I do hope is that all of the poor children, like Green's own child will find some peace in this.
I hope that someone is picking up the pieces. Because there are many broken lives, not just the ones who have already made decisions but also the ones on a promise.
These are children. i really hope someone is looking after the children who believed Green would save their world . this is going to be hard for them too.

Dontaskdontget · 25/11/2022 23:31

GrrrrAReform · 25/11/2022 17:59

I wonder if she'll pop up elsewhere? Who's going to step into those illustrious shoes? Many people disliked the fact that SG was a woman and not trans.

Bet you ÂŁ50 the new CEO of Mermaids is a biological man who just adores working with young children and talking to them about sex.

VestofAbsurdity · 25/11/2022 23:02

It probably has been downloaded and saved somewhere but no idea where.

The video that Green uploaded to Twitter in the middle of the LGBA tribunal (and deleted shortly again within an hour or two) is available to view on page 42 of the Mermaids thread over on Kiwi Farms dot net.

NewLightbulbs · 25/11/2022 23:18

I mean, my own son's 16th, we all went for a fancy pizza with glorious ice creams, and a good walk along the coast!

NewLightbulbs · 25/11/2022 23:15

This is very good news on Susie Green's departure from Mermaids.

I still cannot understand how SG took her 15-year-old son away to a foreign country, and had serious, non-reversible surgery carried out on him, on his 16th birthday. Because he liked playing with dolls when he was small. That is fucked up in all ways.

This is such good news. Mind you I suspect the trustees will try to blame her for everything and rebrand themselves with a fresh start, which worries me.

Yes.

RedToothBrush · 25/11/2022 23:07

To be a fly on the wall of when Susie was told she was resigning.

I wonder how much shouting and screaming occurred.

I'd love for someone with no self awareness filter to have filmed that one!
