Goblins first appeared in the Middle Ages. momentmag.com/debunking-the-harry-potter-anti-semitism-myth/

Thanks for the link, Mummy, so no anti Semitic passages as Pie alluded to, just bog standard goblins.

FFS@MargaritaPie don't bother trying to prove your statement, not that you will, as it's obvious once again you are just spotting rubbish to stir the pot.

Not that I'm surprised.

FionnulaTheCooler · 26/11/2022 13:15

Reminds me of the time the Quidditch league changed their name to Quadball. You're still using something that JK Rowling invented, if you feel that strongly about it, boycott her work altogether. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

Which particular words and actions? Can you link to specific examples? Many thanks!

It's the one where she says you can dress how you want. Men can't wear women's clothes as it's transphobic and insults trutrans donchano.

Exactly. For someone to believe that using goblins was anti semantic, wouldn’t you have to in some form believe some of the tropes were accurate? Therefore only antisemites would believe the goblins were meant to be an insulting portrayal of Jewish people.

Yep. It such an own goal by the TRAs

I don't think JK Rowling inserted her gender critical views into the HP books. The anti-Semitism views may have however...

margarita never ever ever has proof

ever

RoseslnTheHospital · 26/11/2022 12:32

Any old conspiracy theory will do, Pie? Tragic.

KatMcBundleFace · 26/11/2022 12:32

And it's another fuck you buzzfeed from me

Boiledbeetle · 26/11/2022 12:28

@MargaritaPie As I said I've not read her books, obviously you have so it should be really easy for you to post a couple of the anti Semitic passages.

I mean you know how this works by now when you post statements like that

Prove it.

Happylittlechicken · 26/11/2022 12:12

careful @MargaritaPie your jealousy is showing. How exactly are her books anti Semitic?

So do they just slag off all the Harry Potter books then?.what with those being JKR's actual words on every page of every book?

That seems like a really boring sub reddit.

So. Book 2 Chapter 3 what does every one think of the way she wrote it was raining? When obviously it was actually just drizzle?

JKR: So I want trans women to be safe. At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe.

Reddit: YOU MUST DISAGREE WITH THIS

I think these days it's getting more like

JKR: it's a cold wet Saturday in my part of Scotland today, I'll be wrapping up in extra layers.

Reddit: how dare she say that. For some people it's blazing sunshine, it's most definitely Sunday and there are people in shorts on the beach in Australia. She must be disavowed for her lies.

howmanybicycles · 25/11/2022 19:38

Why are they proud of being sexist pigs?

Theimpossiblegirl · 25/11/2022 19:15

I get so pissed off with this.
JKR is amazing, she just rises above the shit. I, however, get really annoyed.

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 19:05

I'm making that up by the way as I have to admit I've never read a Harry Potter book.

Boiledbeetle · 25/11/2022 19:03

MargaritaPie · 25/11/2022 17:28

Reddit's Harry Potter sub has a rule to avoid siding with Rowling's words and actions.

Riapia · 25/11/2022 18:51

What enrages the grubby fuckers is that she can’t be silenced. Every time that they try they only make themselves appear even more ridiculous.

littlbrowndog · 25/11/2022 18:21

Yeah it’s about them showing what good inclusive signallers they are

they don’t give a shiny shite really.

jo will be getting money off it. That will piss them off

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 25/11/2022 18:19

They put that same wording on every one of their (many) articles about HP. It's useful for when you want to virtue signal but without actually giving up something you love/make money from. The Radcliffe coefficient, if you will.

Datun · 25/11/2022 17:59

My fucking God, how hypocritical can you get. Stop profiting from her stuff then !!!

titchy · 25/11/2022 17:53

If you have Reddit I'm sure the HP sub mods will be happy to explain.

I don't have Reddit I'm afraid. Would you mind sharing some links which show what she said and did? Or maybe there isn't any evidence?

ControversialOpening · 25/11/2022 17:53

Wow! They have strong opinions on Scottish devolution over at Reddit.

Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them.

Happy to advertise and potentially profit from her merch though...
