Why are they using 'Feminists' in their title?

I saw this on LinkedIn and thought it might be an interesting role from the title. The role outline then confused me rather! They may be a well known organisation but I've never heard of them.

I wanted to look at their website, but my computer blocked it as a dangerous space. Which is funny in this context.

SparkleTart · 16/11/2022 16:27

It's kind of funny that it just shows three white men next to the "see who've they hired for this role".

Why are they using 'Feminists' in their title?
ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 16:13

Well, if they busy themselves with their virtual vigils and website updates and just let the rest of us get on with stuff, it's fairly harmless. Probably.

ConfusedGC · 16/11/2022 16:05

Loving the responses here although are making me simultaneously laugh and cry. Tbf you lot got a lot further than me which was the LI advert!!! Glad it has a pretty website but not sure how inclusive a pretty website is....

I just feel like I'm existing in a parallel universe where this contradictory word soup is just so mainstream it's scary. I guess this is what is trying to be achieved but FML, seriously???

Cleaning up vomit?

MsPinkMarshmallow · 16/11/2022 11:20

Fucking hell, is there NOTHING these people will not appropriate?

Happylittlechicken · 16/11/2022 11:17

I’ll get baking @ArabellaScott

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 11:14

It's a new one. Bigger. Because it's for EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF GENDERFEELS! 😂

We're gonna need a bigger blanket ... and yes, more cookies.

Happylittlechicken · 16/11/2022 10:07

Anyone want cookies?? Got choc chip or vanilla?

OmiOmy · 16/11/2022 10:05

<shakes out picnic blanket, cracks knuckles, unscrews flask>

Yay. The picnic blanket is back. Is this the same one you use for JKR's detractors or a new one?

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 09:54

Maybe Mumsnet FWR can set up a 'chapter'? We have so much to offer. Grin

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 09:53

They do have a very pretty website. And so far, for what actions they've taken, it seems they've held a 'virtual vigil'.

I actually think I have the PERFECT qualifications for this role.

'Feminists of_ is a growing grassroots network and movement that is driven by the belief that feminism is for everyone. By this, we mean that feminism is better for all people, regardless of their gender or background.'

Bwahahaha!

BlackForestCake · 16/11/2022 09:10

I don't think Ash Sarkar is intellectual enough to be described as a vacuous twerp.

OmiOmy · 16/11/2022 09:06

They are probably white women themselves so oppressing themselves and each other. But men will make it all better.

Sallysue82 · 16/11/2022 09:02

I notice they state that feminist spaces are often dominated by white women, but then rather than saying they are encouraging women of all ethnicities to apply they instead encourage men to apply with no mention of improving the diversity of the women hired.

i noticed that, maybe they were thinking ‘white women’ sounds more oppressive than ‘women’

IceReckon · 16/11/2022 08:50

Its to make an acronym isn't it? Feminist of, missing the second f, they've then shorted it to fo, fo is commonly f* off.
Hence recruiting men specifically, it's anti feminism presumably.

Happylittlechicken · 16/11/2022 08:45

It was accurate though @ArabellaScott

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 08:44

I recant that 'vacuous twerp', sorry, that was unnecessary.

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 08:43

donquixotedelamancha · 16/11/2022 08:25

Their website seems completely opaque on what they actually do. Their only purpose, that I can see, is to 'talk about equality for all genders'.

It's notable how many of these new style 'feminists' don't want to actually do anything about women's rights, just talk about it. I recall one of them accusing Julie Bindel of not having achieved anything for women because she'd never tweeted some particular hashtag.

Ash Sarkar. Said Julie Bindel had obvs never done anything for women in prison, iirc, because her Twitter search showed nothing under those hashtags. Vacuous twerp.

ConfusedGC it all comes over as very weird as there’s no such company on the Companies House website.

FaazoHuyzeoSix · 16/11/2022 06:56

Lots of mumsnetters on the FWR boards have commented from time to time about having no gender, and will therefore qualify as gender diverse.

PermanentTemporary · 16/11/2022 06:44

My friend's spouse should apply - think- tank experience, privately educated, Oxbridge graduate, father of two, and now nonbinary. Wd massively increase their diversity profile.
