And was involved in the publication of a calendar sold to raise money for mermaids.

I'm not sure if this was covered in other recent threads or not, apologies if I missed it then.

reduxx.info/uk-drag-queen-charged-on-three-counts-related-to-child-sexual-abuse-materials/

"A drag queen who performed under the name ‘Miss Rachel Rear’ has appeared in court on charges related to the possession and production of indecent and prohibited images of children.
Andrew Duncan, 24, is facing multiple counts related to 17 pieces of child sexual abuse materials he was found with. Some of the materials were media of real children, and others were illegal fantasy depictions of children engaged in obscene, pornographic acts.
Among the photographs found on Duncan’s devices were some classified as ‘Category A’ — the most serious type. Images and video in this categoryy_ can depict penetrative sexual activity, bestiality, and/or sexual sadism involving children.
Duncan is alleged to also have been in possession of and produced child sexual abuse materials via digital means, otherwise known as a “prohibited image.” In the United Kingdom, prohibited images are non-photographic media created by computer generation, cartoon, or drawing which feature pornographic and obscene depictions of children."

No, because it isn't that photo that's the problem. It's asking to take photos in a child's room. It's scouting for children and parents who're happy to let that happen.

I don't mean the advertiser or photographer are abusers, I mean that's a poor choice for safeguarding. Like, I dunno, offering kids sweets to come and talk to you.

Unseelie · 05/11/2022 22:20

Thingybob · 05/11/2022 18:03

If I became aware of group of straight, white men that wanted to hang around libraries to read to small children it would raise the same alarm bells.

What @Thingybob said.

Especially if the men were obsessed with showing people their underwear.

I jumped to a conclusion, but the rest is true. It appears he's sexually assaulted drag "colleagues" in the area too.

DQ have zero educational value in libraries and schools.

Why do Men in tight Lycra want to be around kids? What does it bring to their lives?
Why does a childrens charity think pics of men in drag clothes on their website and promoting their causes is a good look?

Drag is exaggerated sexualised parody of women.

How does that help diversity? Why does mermaids want to promote that? They're communicating to the boys that they should be sexualised parodies of girls and that constant parody and judgement of females in all media is probably one of the reasons girls are wishing to become boys.

What's true? A paedophile has been convicted. Not a drag queen story time teller. No access to children. You've admitted to jumped to conclusions about Mermaids. Show me the link to the drag queens you say is on the mermaids website and I can make a judgement.

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 22:19

I’m querying @YelenaBlackWidow why we don’t have stripper story hour if we can have DQSH? Both are adult entertainers, so if one is suitable to read to children in their work attire, surely the other should be too? Why would drag queens in their costumes be ok but not strippers in theirs?

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 22:15

picklemewalnuts · 05/11/2022 21:53

Ok, Yelena, but I'd imagine that was arranged by looking for teens to interview, then discussing with them where a photo would work. It may be at a hobby, or doing homework so incidentally at their desk in their room.

To call for children specifically to allow a photo and photographer in their room is poor practice. The child's bedroom is the point of that photo.

Okay find me the photo I'll tell if if it's inappropriate. Let's work on facts.

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 22:14

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 22:02

And please don't start denigrating sex workers on top.

I’m confused. How is suggesting if drag queens are ok to go into libraries and read to children, so are strippers denigrating anyone? I’m saying if one kind of adult entertainer is ok to entertain children, surely other types are?

You said:

where is the demand to allow postmen office workers and firemen to read stories to children whilst dressed in lingerie? If allowing adult entertainers to read to children is so good for them, why do we not have strippers and lap dancers going in to libraries for stripper story hour?

You appear to be now bringing sex workers into your general opinion about drag queens. That's okay your opinion however there would be nothing wrong in sex workers reading stories to children, do you imagine they don't have children of their own. And drag queens aren't sex workers.

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 22:10

So that man in the big wig, fake boobs and exaggerated make up with the jokey female name isn’t womanface? Are you saying that’s not a drag queen? In which case what was he doing reading to children as part of DQSH? Was he just some random they let in?

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 22:10

picklemewalnuts · 05/11/2022 22:00

Leaving the calendar and mermaids out of it, this man is a drag queen and sex offender. Drag queens are adult entertainment as in, sexualised entertainment. They are performance sex workers.

Why are we keen for sexualised entertainers to entertain our kids?

Do we call for Cardi B to read stories to our kids, given her enormous success as a black woman? Or playboy bunnies? Why would we?

I have no idea why people are keen, but I don't judge people for their work. They aren't inappropriately dressed in the library, and the stories are age appropriate children's books. Again, the paedophile did not read story time books.

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 22:06

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 21:54

So you don’t believe drag is womanface? So it’s ok for men to mock women by parodying them, and to convince children this is ok to do? Why? If these men want to read stories to children, surely doing it dressed in everyday clothes with no make up would work just as well? What is the attraction of having a man in womanface reading to children?

I didn't say that. I said the picture of the man at the story time wasn't woman face. Look at it.

burneruser · 05/11/2022 21:53

I didn't say the advice mentioned drag queens. It's asking for kids to have photos taken in their rooms.

I was criticising mermaids for call outs for bedroom photo shoots. And separately, the images with a drag queen who looks like a dead girl in a bedroom set on their website.

Reduxx haven't said this man convicted of CSA images was actually in the calendar and I'll admit I misread that part.

So as far as we know he's not specifically in the calendar. But was on the same scene.

The calendar was v inappropriate for such a charity.

I still cannot fathom why people defend male sexual entertainment being linked to children.

There are many borderline boundaries being blurred constantly by all this.

@Happylittlechicken you are entitled to believe what you want of course, I'm not saying some drag queens aren't unpleasant in their acts, I'm not keen on them myself it's not my cup of tea, I'm just pointing out the lies and misinformation on this thread. It doesn't really help the cause to bullshit when there's enough truth to complain about.

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 21:47

@Dreamwhisper I agree, there is no link. The focus should be on the paedophile. Incidentally he didn't have access to actual children to take pictures or otherwise, although what he did do was bad enough.

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 21:44

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 21:42

It's a trouser suit and a wig. How is that 'women face'? Men can wear trouser suits and wigs. And please don't start denigrating sex workers on top. There's enough bullshit on this thread, it's been exaggeration and misinformation from start to finish. It's the paedophile that's wrong, is that not bad enough to talk about without dissing people that have nothing to do with it? The paedophile did not to drag queen story time in fact they had no access to children at any point.

Um drag is womanface. It’s men dressing up as parodies of women to mock women. Would that be ok if a white person dressed up,in blackface and parodied black people? There is a thread on AIBU where most posters agree dressing up in native costume when you are not that race is wrong, so why is it ok for men to dress up as women and mock women?

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 21:44

picklemewalnuts · 05/11/2022 21:38

It mentions photographing children in their bedrooms? That's enough to raise red flags.

I've seen plenty of articles where youngsters tell their story and they're photographed at home in front of a poster or their desk doing homework or whatever. I'm not defending it if it's dodgy, find the picture and I'll judge.

YelenaBlackWidow · 05/11/2022 21:42

Happylittlechicken · 05/11/2022 21:35

Awesome. Lovely. Perfectly reasonable clothes to wear whilst reading stories to toddlers. Maybe if we’re going to promote adult entertainers reading to children, we should encourage strippers and lap dancers next? If they want to read stories to children, why not go in in normal clothes instead of womanface? Can you imagine if someone turned up to read in blackface? Or dressed in a Native American costume when they weren’t NA? Why is women face acceptable to read to children but the others aren’t?

The photo of a young boy sitting with a draq queen in a set supposed to be of a drag queen's girly bedroom is on the mermaids website.

I would like to get true verification of the below screenshot:

That advert doesn't mention drag queens. Yes perhaps you should get verification as you were the one that originally said this paeodophile was in the calendar when they weren't, bringing mermaids into it in the first place weren't you?

@gogohmm
As someone who has worked with Paul O'Grady I find this tarring every drag artist with the same brush pretty offensive, he's a lovely man who made money dressing up in women's clothes.

It's pretty offensive for a man to dress up as a women in order to mock women, to profit from this and to promote sexist regressive stereotypes.

A lovely man simply would not do this.
