The Labour leader is desperately trying to stay on the fence with his 99.9% of women are biological women schtick.

He repeated it in the recent MN interview.

Let me be clear, as he is so fond of saying, 100% of women are biological women. And as long as you keep pandering to this alleged "0.1%", we will lose the language we need to describe us, and we will lose the right to single sex spaces. Women are a sex class. And any attempt to pretend otherwise will fall over at the first scrutiny. And you will lose the election because you have manufactured an existential crisis for women. Try harder.

I thought he meant for 99% of women biology matters but for the other 1% doesn't because they are transmen. I didn't realise he was saying that 1% of women are men. He really is talking out of his little toe.

Its just a percentage he pulled out of his arse anyway.

Indeed it is! He's just made it up. The point about self-id policies is that any man at all can identify as a woman whenever he feels like it. There's nothing at all to stop every single man identifying as a woman, which would mean that only 50% of women are biologically female.

nilsmousehammer · 31/10/2022 14:47

Women are not transwomen. They can't ever be, they are female, it's the defining characteristic. Transwomen equally are not women. They cannot ever be, because they are male. They are transwomen.

It might have been possible once to separate sex and gender and to be nice about a polite fiction that women is a mixed sex group of females and this group of males who want to use the word for themselves. But that would have been dependent on those male people having sufficient respect and niceness in return to agree that female people are a sex class, with sex based needs that will sometimes need to be met as a separate group.

This has failed.

As a result, the possibility of a nice generous end to this is long since off the table.

If 99.9% of the meals he ate were nice but 0.1% was dogshit, would he still eat it, or does that small percentage make a difference?

AutumnsCrow · 31/10/2022 14:33

99.9% of Keir Starmer is coming across as being majorly stupid over this. It's a stupid thing to believe. It's a stupid thing to say. He can't actually believe it, so he's a liar.

I dislike Penny Mordaunt for similar reasons, for balance.

And Ed Davey, Nicola Sturgeon and Plaid, Greens, WEP. They're asking me to believe shite that will damage me and my DD.

Just no.

bellinisurge · 31/10/2022 14:19

If they think the Tories aren't going to go after them with this, they are kidding themselves. And the "oh, it's just bigots" position will fall apart at the slightest test.

I was very disappointed with the interview he gave Justine. There was a sense overall of being jolly on the sofa and oh so very considered and reasonable and just talking common sense to the mummies. When she raised the questions from GC women he looked to the female MP to answer first, nodding along. He gave zero indication that he had engaged at all with any of the issues GC women raise. They are serious issues. 100% credibility destroyed for me in that interview and on the back of it I could not vote for him as PM. It was not just what he said or didn't say. It was the general air of not taking the audience seriously. Put that in your focus group pipe and smoke it LP.

bellinisurge · 31/10/2022 14:11

His 99.9 % point is that this is the number of women who are biological women. Blah blah blah believe in safe spaces .

Mr Starmer, it is your 0.1 % concept that fucks it all up.

And you notice he never says 99.9% of men are biological men. It's always about being in thrall to lady dick.

What’s he trying to say with his 99.9% point? That this isn’t a big deal?

Well yes it is if that 0.1% are allowed into women’s safe spaces and sports. 0.1% is enough to have a significant effect on the women who have to share those spaces with them.

If they just let one man into a women’s prison for every 1000 women, or one male Olympic athlete into every women’s Olympic event, would he think that was ok? As it’s just 0.1%?

Not to mention the erasure of the meaning of the word woman as pp have said. Does dog still mean dog if 0.1% of dogs are actually cats? No it doesn’t.

Novina · 31/10/2022 14:06

It's the failed "logic" of the GRA: it's only a tiny number, so it won't make a significant difference to your rights.

TheClogLady · 31/10/2022 14:03

Absolutely.

A woman is a female-sex human who has reached the age of majority.

You can’t become a woman if you weren’t conceived as a female zygote and grown through the female embryo, female foetus, female baby, female child & female adolescent stages.

bellinisurge · 31/10/2022 13:53

He really doesn't get it. And he really thinks we are stupid.

Pinpot · 31/10/2022 13:50

Rubbish.

I would love to vote for Labour. I really would love to, but I absolutely cannot whilst the leader doesn't understand what a woman is. Total nonsense and makes it entirely clear that women's rights and protections mean nothing to them.
