Again stop doing this as I keep telling you there are indeed lesbians that say they are lesbians dating trans women so it’s not for you to tell them that they are not lesbians that is wrong.

Why not? They are not lesbians.

Because they see trans women as women just for instance if trans women had full operation and bodily looks like a woman acts like a woman is a woman that lesbian will think she is still a lesbian . You need to go on other forums etc this happens i

I'm not convinced that Scotland's legal system can (legally) undermine the whole of UK law though. And this is what will happen if this goes through in Scotland. I don't know whether Westminster will challenge it, but I am convinced that Nicola's entire reasoning for this is nothing to do with trans rights, and everything to do with undermining the UK legal system to further her independence bid. Trans issues are just a vehicle to her achieving this. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that this is what she's doing. It's quite ruthless really. But not surprising.

If they see it as a health issue ie trans women or men let’s not forget about men we all concentrate on women any way if they get their certificates yuckier making them feel better then as they have control over their health and their laws to a certain degree what can England do? The only reason why certain people in England won’t like it as they feel trans women or men from quicker but that really doesn’t impact anyone . The tories are using this as a culture war stuff to not just the SNP

No as there are lesbians dating trans women because they see them as lesbians stop trying to redefine things if they say they are lesbians they are indeed lesbians

But lesbian has a specific meaning 'same sex attracted females'.

You can't redefine a word unilaterally. I could say I'm fit, or a giant or an olympic athlete. Saying something doesn't make it so, even if I truly believe it.

Oops, I totally got the tone wrong there. I was actually chortling at the paradise-found idea of Scotland being this kind of haven for trans. Worded it really badly, but I bloody live here and it's truly not a rainbow filled festival of light and worship of the trans. I consider my wrist well slapped.

passive aggressive still can’t hide how it’s wrong that trans people just can’t live their life without twats being disgusting about them

Totally disagree as you don’t get to tell a lesbian who they are attracted to

Yes you do. "Lesbian" is a definition. If a lesbian is attracted to males (TW or not) they're not lesbians. It isn't rocket science

Life is complicated but sexuality is not. Lesbians don’t date males. Even those wearing a dress. A lesbian Is a female homosexual. To claim otherwise is extremely homophobic. As transwomen are male, no lesbian will date a male. But as you also have Males claiming they are lesbian, it’s no wonder you’re confused.

I have to admit that I was starting to think along these lines - though Scotland already has a separate legal and education system to rest of UK.

Though here in Wales and in N.I education is also different - not sure about legal situation in N.I and Wales is increasingly going it's own way on many matters.

Ooh transactual. What beacons of sanity… not. 🙄🙄🙄
yes @PriOn1 it’s like a miracle how they’re always on the right threads at just the right time to grab screenshots from first time posters….

Pugdogmom · 30/10/2022 11:46

So much hysteria about all of this.

Many such posts are made and very quickly are screenshotted and circulated on Twitter by transactivists. Somehow, the activists always get the screenshots, even when Mumsnet delete them very quickly. An amazing coincidence that they are always on Mumsnet just at the right time, don’t you think?

Totally disagree as you don’t get to tell a lesbian who they are attracted to. The one lady that says she’s a lesbian and doesn’t agree with trans women fine that’s her opinion but I can tell you and show you other lesbians that are cool with trans people and even dating them to and still classify themselves as lesbian because life is complicated

I don't think wee Nicola cares that much about trans rights. Why would she have this obsession with one thing (apart from independence). But its a good way of try to destabilise the UK by trying to push contrasting laws in a boarderless country, where the impact on the rest of the UK would be significant. What better way to force the independence agenda. Nicola doesn't care about trans rights, she cares about independence, and will do what ever it takes to get there.

Are you ^ing at me? What's transphobic about saying that men who identify as lesbians are erasing the category 'lesbian'?

No Pattihews, not that post, some of the others.

If you see any transphobic posts then report them to MN and if they agree they will delete them.

Just seen they have deleted them

This is the problem when we mess with language and have words that have more than one meaning. For some a lesbian is same sex attracted for others it's same gender attracted. The word lesbian is taken and means same sex attraction of women, the adult human type. The word woman is also taken. Language does change but the meaning of these words will not. TQ need to find their own words or just make some up. They have been very good at making up words so it shouldn't be too difficult. There wouldn't be so much conflict if women's words and their meanings had not be colonised by men.

Hilarious that free-spirit uses the insult chav 🤣 really does show the class divide. Working class mining towns = nasty evil violent poor who don't buy into the new religion, tw = actually most oppressed usually white middle class men.
Probably thinks they're a socialist too. 🤣🤣🤣

I live in what some would say is a shit hole of a town and yes I lean on the left spectrum but that don’t mean I am nasty to minorities that’s an excuse plus it’s not a religion see what I mean about this isn’t just about being about womens spaces this is blatant hating on trans people

Christ you don’t know me I am working class and am poor I just happen to think working class doesn’t mean act like ignorant baboons. It doesn’t cost anything to be nice and not be homophobic or transphobic I think that belittles the working class. I live in a council flat but I know that being decent is just human and we don’t all have to be chavish

Blimey. I don’t agree with changes to the GRA, I think 16 is way too young to be messing with medical “gender changes” or whatever , and I think women are entitled to single sex spaces but…. You know when some people point at MN FWR and say “transphobic” and certain FWR members go all wide-eyed and say “ where? Show us the transphobic posts”…
Well, they are there ^^^^^^^

Not doing women or the actual issues at stake any favours at all.
