To feel incredibly sorry for Eddie Izzard

I don't want to pity Eddie but I felt a wave of sadness after reading that Rosie Duffield (MP) said she would rather be arrested than refer to Eddie as a woman.

Actually @BeenCounter its been done. A school in Bristol has to refer to one of their pupils using cat pronouns, there is a gender called nyangender and yeah.. it’s as crazy as it sounds.

Seriously? They identify as a cat?

I think I'm going to start identifying as cat, if I get a collar and an all in fur suit, would this be possible.

I can see the advantages, I would no longer have to pay taxes, I could freely gain admitance into other houses, have sex in public spaces, shit on the high street and attack others without provocation.

Or is that too soon in our development to alter peoples reality for my own purposes, would I be shot down for taking advantage of others, to consider them fools, or can I get away with it -

Too Soon ?
Yes I thought so.
Maybe later.

I have no shame.

I’m hoping for more conversations about fucking terrifying ‘brain fog’ is, when you can’t have a normal conversation because you forget every second word. Menopause really doesn’t feel like it gets much attention in the world of inclusive womenhood, other than when we all have to agree that it happens to transwomen too.

Abhannmor · 30/10/2022 11:00

Can't wait to hear Eddie's 90 minute special about Saga holidays. And how the TV is always on too loud at the care home. We're not all bloody deaf y'know. And why can't padded jackets be in more exciting colours?

Trustylion · 30/10/2022 09:56

Yes, for the true womanly experience you have to also take menopause and old lady mode. Funny how it's only ever girlhood and perky breasts they get excited about. Don't see many elderly ladies in high heels I suppose.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 30/10/2022 09:41

So what Eddie Izzard really needs now is an "Old Lady" mode. I look forward to seeing it.

Any adult man going on about being a "girl" is going to come off as being a bit creepy. Eddie isn't identifying as a menopausal woman. Eddie is identifying as being an adolescent female.

Now Eddie probably didn't intend to sound creepy by talking about boy mode and girl mode - probably intended to sound funny and like it was switches that go on and off in Eddies genderflexible amazing wild funny mind! Yay!

But words matter don't they? That's what TRAs are always telling us.
Identifying as a girl is creepy.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 30/10/2022 07:35

I suspect that Eddie Izzard's starting point is "I am not a creep". A young man can wear makeup and it's kind of edgy and even a bit cute when he talks about it onstage but that doesn't last. A 60 year old bloke who has a "girl mode" and uses ladies' toilets just comes across as creepy. So, Eddie Izzard can't be a bloke any more, at least not when she/he/whoever is in girl mode. QED.

oooo Janice nails it here. Read this and then try and feel sorry for ‘Miss Izzard’

In the first sentence appears the word 'self-serving'. Pretty much sums up all this bullshit, doesn't it?!

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 29/10/2022 16:33

i used the terms girl mode and boy mode (which are the terms EI uses) and said that he was a just another self promoting opportunist who used whatever he wanted for his own benefit. (paraphrasing now as i cannot recall the exact term).

I was not misgendering either because EI says he is relaxed about pronouns. So good of EI.

I even double checked what i posted at the time and it was nothing more scathing than anything else as far as i could see. [shrug]

ShutYerYapAndGetOnWithIt · 29/10/2022 16:27

Eddie Izzard is a bloke in a frock. Even if he were to have extensive surgery and hormones, he'll always be a man. Chromosomes determine gender and thus cannot be changed

PoseyFlump · 29/10/2022 16:25

I didn't see your comment @OrangePumpkinLobelia Did you make it clear you was quoting EI?

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 29/10/2022 16:13

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 29/10/2022 14:51

Why did I get deleted? For calling EI with he pronouns when EI says he/she is happy with them or for calling him an attention seeker opportunist?

genuinely inteterested to know.

Still looking for an explanation tbh. i used the words girl mode and boy mode, but Ei used them in relation to 'their' self first.

Honestly confused why my comment was deleted.

Heavens it's a right minefield trying to work around hurty feelz isn't it. 'Coz someone clearly reported me.

TheClogLady · 29/10/2022 15:58

A bit more shame is probably required at this point, judging by the Man in Gimp Suit thread and the one
about the Canadian teacher with the ginormous silicone bosom.

lifeturnsonadime · 29/10/2022 15:57

He'll put it down to transphobia. He has to.

Yes he will and the fact that he is enabled in doing so by the likes of the Labour Party is how he has the power.

Baldieheid · 29/10/2022 15:49

Shame in some contexts is good, it's part of our social structure, isn't it? Shame for theft, for example. How many times are we told " the defendent feels real contrition" in court cases. Is there contrition without shame?

But no, I'll never feel shame at saying a man is always a man, and will never be a woman. To say that, that's just stupid.

nilsmousehammer · 29/10/2022 15:01

The 'shaming needs to stop'

Yeah it probably will when the shameful and offensive behaviour stops. Cause and effect tends to work that way.

The shaming needs to stop apparently

What the hell are Labour doing? They've made it impossible to vote for them.

At least there's some comfort in the comments. The tide has turned for the majority but these fools at the top have just not got the memo.

Asdavaluesausage · 29/10/2022 14:20

I have about as much sympathy for EI as he has towards the women and girls he’s insulting.

TheClogLady · 29/10/2022 14:13

Lucy Powell has a non-trans TRA working in her Constituency office.

Interesting to see Sharron’s reply is getting more likes than Lucy’s original tweet. People have had enough (and we might be able to get a proper gauge of the true opinions amongst Twitter users now that Elon Musk has fired some of the top brass).
