To feel incredibly sorry for Eddie Izzard

I don't want to pity Eddie but I felt a wave of sadness after reading that Rosie Duffield (MP) said she would rather be arrested than refer to Eddie as a woman.

Eddie is a very talented and funny comedian,a wonderful charity fundraiser, and an entertaini g TV presence. He is also a cross dresser.

All of this is fine. None of it makes him a woman

It's fine. I'll leave the thread. My OP was genuine and I didn't realise MN had already decided on the gender issue (I've just been told).
I feel sorry for him, he (or she) seems like a nice person.

and I think he has implied he would prefer female pronouns but isn’t insisting on it.

I feel a little sorry for a transsexual person who suffers from dysphoria and spends their whole life knowing they can’t be an actual woman and avoiding female spaces but being very uncomfortable in male ones. Since Eddie is quite happy to be a male for his acting opportunities I can only assume he is taking the piss.
