I don't think he quite understands the gender critical viewpoint. But he recognises the disgusting bullying of a woman saying something completely normal.
You don't expect everyone to understand exactly what gender critical means, we live in a patriarchy, after all. If they all got it, we wouldn't be living in one.
But you do expect normal people to agree that women need sex segregation when they're vulnerable, and sending them rape and death threats when they ask for it, is clearly unacceptable.
Or that, (which is what I suspect it is in this case), only woman can understand what a woman is.
You really don't need any kind of feminist understanding, or linguistic explanations, to grasp that.
He's having a normal reaction, to a woman saying something completely normal, which has been greeted in a way that is totally not normal.
My main take from it is that he's not fucking scared.
