News article after news article

The list goes on.

And yet I have a 9yo daughter - autistic, gender nonconforming, the exact audience for this genderist pile of shite, and I'm not convinced anything substantial will have changed when she's in secondary school or even college.

Where girls are still wearing binders, and trying and failing to opt out of sexism with a name change and trans flag lanyards.

How long are we going to have to wait? Labour will be in power in the next couple of years. How will I keep my perfectly healthy and whole daughter safe from this gender dogma?

I'm tired of waiting.

Gender ideology is the belief that society should be structured around subjective gender instead of objective sex, that gender non conforming children should be set on a medical pathway that will lead to long term morbidity, that all people must be coerced into sharing these beliefs and “validating” the subjective gender of anyone who claims to have a gender identity, that those claiming a gender identity are a sacred caste accorded special protections and privileges and not subject to the usual safeguarding checks the rest of the population are subjected to, that women should suffer the humiliation, indignity, fear and potential physical violence and abuse which results from no longer having spaces and services free from the male sex when they are undressed or vulnerable.

My sense is that it will take the same amount of time as it took to get it established.

But I do think in the UK, or at least England, the process of going in the other direction has really started. So it will be getting better, overall, in the next five years. But it will not be a quick turn-around.

Wait for what? What are you waiting for? What do you think is the end game here? Trans people aren't going to stop existing.

Sure, though eventually it will become unfashionable. What we're all waiting for is the end of the expectation that everyone has to pander to them, all the time.

nauticant · 15/10/2022 14:39

What is "gender ideology"?

You weren't even able to read the actual words in my post. You're a waste of time.

Igmum · 15/10/2022 14:27

Sadly Scary you are wilfully misinterpreting this thread. I don't think I've ever read anyone on here denying that trans people exist. They do. And the vast majority have no problems with trans people expressing themselves how they wish. Go right ahead.

Problems do arise however, when troubled or autistic children are told there is a magic pill to solve all of their problems, when they are medically sterilised at a point in their lives in which they cannot give informed consent and when they have a lifetime of regret. Looked after children, those who have suffered trauma and those who are autistic are highly over represented in this group. That alone should cause concern. Let kids express themselves but don't rush to medicate

Well, for a start, the end to children being indocrinated into gender identity ideology by organisations such as Mermaids who in the past few weeks have shown themselves to have little regard to the safeguarding of children.

What is "gender ideology"? The fact that trans people exist? Again, that is not going to stop.

Apollo442 · 15/10/2022 13:40

And there you have a typical gender ideologue response. No one said anything about trans peoples existence. Since you seem to have been in a bubble and missed all the many issues raised let me sum up some key points. We''d like schools to stop teaching you can born in the wrong body that sex is assigned at birth and you need puberty blockers and hormones if you don't conform to gender stereotypes. We'd like schools and organisations to stop handing out breast binders to girls. We'd like girls to be allowed their own sports where it would be unfair/dangerous to include males. We also like toilets and changing rooms separated by sex. You have a problem with any of that?

Read the room. Parents don't want their autistic children being sold the snake oil of breast flatteners, double mastectomies and hormones as a way to hate their bodies.
This ideation of aggressive body modification starts in schools and autistic girls are the prime victims of people thinking they are being kind and inclusive.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 15/10/2022 13:36

I think that parents now are in a better position than those of 5 years ago. You’ll be prepared and harder to gaslight. You can prepare your children too. There are also organisations such as Bayswater, Safe schools and Transgender Trend. There will be ever more cautionary tales from detransitioners too.

WandaWomblesaurus · 15/10/2022 13:35

You need to step in now and educate her on this as thoroughly as possible - the only vaccine against social contagion is education. Most of the kids in dd's school have been groomed by their friends. Rainbow shoelaces and pronoun badges at lunchtimes, transactivist teachers teaching them that lesbians are same gender attracted. The schools changing their names without telling parents.
Your child needs to know the truth now - because at the same age my autistic child was being AGGRESSIVELY groomed by her friendgroup to say she was a boy.

Luckily because I had worked with pregnant mothers she knew everything about biology at a young age. We had discussed how being LGB was no big deal, we had discussed that some people were trans but that also many young people were being told they were supposed to be obsessing about their identity and to not get sucked into it as it's social desperation for attention.

Be honest with your child because the school isn't going to be and the children will tell her the lies they are learning from the internet. The sooner you do it the better.

My autistic child has resisted - she's not interested in any of it. Instead she is focused on STEM, on her pets, on maintaining her childhood and her self respect and her privacy. She has a stock response for anyone who asks her about her sexuality.
"I am a child." she says.

She is polite to people who are trans of which there seem to be so many in her school. But she's not using pronouns. She simply calls them by their name. She keeps herself to herself as she's seen first hand the drama and bullying that the TRA contingent are responsible for.

The only hope is you.

I'm in Scotland. I suspect we may shortly provide a useful object lesson for the rUK.

What is key is whether the media will report on it.

I hear you. I'm so tired. My school is just bringing in a bonkers trans policy. Nothing is changing. I also have an 8yo dd. I despair.

vinoandbrie · 15/10/2022 12:13

Thank you I will look into this now.

SiobhanSharpe · 15/10/2022 12:12

@vinoandbrie might the Safe Schools Alliance have any advice for you over how to approach this?

vinoandbrie · 15/10/2022 12:09

I am with you. My DD is eight and autistic. I can’t stand it, I am so scared for her.

Letter home from school yesterday saying they are looking again at what they teach them in RSE, as it was looked in in 2020-21 (when I complained until I was blue in the face at them wanting to ‘teach’ about transsexuals), as they want to ‘revisit’ that decision not to teach them about transsexuals. Naturally they don’t use the word ‘transsexuals’ in the letter, so if you’re not attuned to what the proposed ‘change to the RSE curriculum’ actually is, then you’d just think ‘right whatever, teaching them about respect and periods etc, fine’.

I am sick and tired of this shit.
