yes, less than 5% ? And the Supreme Body ( Conferences ) attracts less than 1000 self-appointed and therefore unaccountable members out of 60000. Plenary sessions, such as the one which adopted the "Transwomen are women..." policy in 2016 and the Drag Queens Story Time at this last Autumn 2022 Conference in Harrogate rarely get more than 300 members. If there has been a call to check for quoracy at those sessions, such late motions would have probably just fallen off the agenda. The Green Party is a sect, not a democratic political party and its "radicalisation " by identity politics ideologues is now complete.

Never has the phrase 'passed a motion' been more appropriate.

the perfect comment right there ^

KittyKlaws · 28/10/2022 15:58

Glad they have nothing better to do with their time.

Honestly, I absolutely despair at the state of society.

SidewaysOtter · 28/10/2022 14:05

It’s doubling down, isn’t it? Because the alternative is admitting they were wrong and that would never do, what with them “being on the right side of history” and all.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/10/2022 13:58

I think voting turnout is quite low.

TheClogLady · 28/10/2022 13:56

It must be really disheartening for all members, activists and voters who still want environmental issues prioritised but no longer have a party focused on those issues.

Perhaps the lack of effective democratic representation on climate issues is a contributing factor to
the recent dramatic public protest interventions?

There really needs to be an Earth Party because the Green Party has got lost in the Rainbow.

Quite. The Rainbow Warrior was a ship, not a fucking manifesto.

N0RKS · 28/10/2022 12:30

So was I, when it was concerned with cycle to work schemes, recycling initiatives and protesting new power stations.

I don’t recognise the party any more, and I have left.

GCAcademic · 24/10/2022 21:11

To think I was actually a member of this party at one point. Pathetic.

BaileySharp · 24/10/2022 21:10

Stupid stupid motion. Not wanting DBS checks to work around children is crazy. Also yes drag Queens aren't exactly environmentally friendly are they?

nicotina3 · 24/10/2022 19:34

The tide is turning, but the cost to the greens will be high as Caroline Lucas will have to face the music😂

What is the reference to enhanced disclosure checks in that twitter thread by Shahrar? Did someone honestly object to this? If so, what bigger red flag could there be? Surely any credible organisation concerned to shake off any dubious links (including some members in America found to be sex offenders) would welcome enhanced disclosure checking?

Maybe they are worried an enhanced disclosure could come back with some ‘non crime hate incidents’?

Hoisted by their own petard.

ControversialOpening · 03/10/2022 09:32

The Green Party: for those who never grew out of student politics

I'm seriously considering leaving the party. For the last year or so I've been on strike in that I don't do anything to help but have kept my membership so I can vote or give my proxy, but this latest things is the straw that's breaking the back

BloodyHellKen · 03/10/2022 08:39

I used to vote for the Green Party back when they were all about fighting for the natural environment. I believed if they could get a few seats they could only do good in the world by lending votes for green issues. How utterly disappointed I am by what they've become. What about the green issues?!
Drag Queen Story time FFS 🤣

I don't vote for them anymore what with me being a terfy old bigot.

Signalbox · 03/10/2022 08:37

Also not liking plastic and man made fibres is extremely cis-hetero-normative and therefore wrong!

KittenKong · 03/10/2022 08:34

All that glitter, makeup, dyes and plastic tat?

Signalbox · 03/10/2022 08:33

TheClogLady · 02/10/2022 22:48

I thought the Greens objected to plastics and man made fibres?

I’m guessing they are fully intersectional which mean they will have to reconsider how holding such luxury beliefs will affect the DQSH community.

KittenKong · 03/10/2022 08:00

What does this have to do with climate change and saving endangered species?

green or rainbow party? What is it with the greens?

TheBiologyStupid · 03/10/2022 00:10

Good job we don't have a looming climate crisis to worry about.....

This!

Obviously thoughts and prayers are with the drag queen story time community at this difficult time. But if we could perhaps have a tiny look at the situation of women being beaten to death in Iran?

And also this!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 03/10/2022 00:07

Tralalalalalalalalalala · 02/10/2022 23:22

The Green Party have lost their way. They are an utter disgrace.

aDayattheLido · 02/10/2022 23:20

You couldn't make it up, could you?
