The MoJ effectively said they could do nothing to change the policy, iirc.

All these politicians, all so fucking helpless in the face of their own cock-ups.

I saw a letter somewhere (though this was from 2018, I believe) from the government in response to a FOI request it was revealed that there were 0 trans identified female prisoners in UK male prisons. Whether it was their choice and wants to do their sentence in a female prison or the court refusing any requests made, I don't know.

For a start, the number of female prisoners is many orders of magnitude smaller than the number of males.

So there will be very few trans identified females in prison to start with.

I believe there is one in Scotland in a man's prison.

The whole episode was is disgraceful, however I don't give much for his chances if he ends up in a women's prison.

I suppose as far as safety of the female prisoners we need to ask whether this person is actually mixed in with the population at all, or housed totally separately? Does anyone know?

If the latter it might be why people are not making so much of a fuss about it.

I can't decide what's more dangerous - a man getting himself into a woman's prison or a woman getting herself into a man's prison

This a shit apology - although does acknowledge the crimes are recorded correctly with him as a man.
How has he been allowed into the prison estate without a GRC? Even with one would be bad enough, but without one is ludicrous
