Article in the Times Scotland section. I know it's not a parody but it reads in part like one:

There's an archived copy of the Telegraph article here: web.archive.org/web/20220925200938/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/09/25/exclusive-trans-charity-mermaids-giving-breast-binders-children/

Cillery · 25/09/2022 21:35

A transgender children’s charity, Mermaids, is giving potentially dangerous chest-flattening devices to 14-year-olds against their parents’ wishes, an investigation by The Telegraph has found

TheBiologyStupid · 25/09/2022 20:23

Imagine adults pushing and affirming it.

Sadly, no imagination is required...

ScrollingLeaves · 25/09/2022 19:20

The school’s pride club has expanded across two classrooms after an “absolutely huge” number of pupils expressed an interest in signing up to discuss their LGBT identities

Never in the history of schools have pupils had so much control over their teachers. It is almost funny.

The pride club is so evidently simply a very dangerous fashion. Imagine adults pushing and affirming it.

How many LGB kids does the pride club support? It seems to be all about the T from the article.

I think this is a really important question. One that deserves investigation.

We need to stop all this BS 🤦🏻‍♀️ ALL OF IT!!

Let's stop saying toys for girls/boys, cars for girls/boys, colours for girls/boys.... all of that is generating theses issues!!! These kids think makeup equals them being female or liking football equals them being male. BS!!!

Keep bathrooms and changing rooms for vagina owners vs penis owners. Full stop. None of that mess mix up!!

Nothing to do with gender reassignment. They can't be asked to leave because they are legally female, so they fit the criteria for the school.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 25/09/2022 17:59

What do they do with pupils who identify as boys or non-binary? Are they asked to leave?

Not 100% sure but I wouldn't expect so. That would be discrimination on grounds of gender reassignment.

WearyLady · 25/09/2022 08:58

I noticed that several of the schools in the second article were all-girls schools. What do they do with pupils who identify as boys or non-binary? Are they asked to leave?

Changedmynamefor · 25/09/2022 08:41

What I find utterly fascinating is the self-chosen names - Lynx, Kai, Pandora… they never pick, say , Ryan or Scott or Katie or Olivia - common names amongst their peers. Always has to be something special and unusual and attention seeking.

And another Scottish school, and independent one this time, pushing this.
"“Throughout our health and wellbeing programme we are mindful that our lessons must not be taught through a cisgendered or heterosexist lens."

So there are parents PAYING for their children to be exposed to this? 😮

Skim-read the article. Apparently this particular school uses the “genderbread” model to illustrate gender nonsense. Clearly those in charge really have no capacity for critical thinking. I defy anyone to look at the “genderbread” and not squirm with embarrassment/be open mouthed in disbelief.

horseymum · 25/09/2022 08:31

This article is largely recycling from the good schools guide a while ago as it wasn't news to me but the extra detail is scary. What is the gender unicorn and what place does it have in biology lessons? I really need to ask my school what they are doing bin all these areas. I wonder how the schools British Sign language plans are going or their disability inclusion efforts?

Does anyone know anything about the video "to help schools become more inclusive for LGBT pupils, which will soon be sent to local primary schools"? Is it the same as the video linked upthread on the Queen Anne High school website, which is the basis for the article? Because that video is explicitly only about gender and the T. Nothing to say about the L,G, or B. And it doesn't seem at all suitable for primary schools.

FlowersBloomInAutumn · 24/09/2022 01:07

Oh, the Spinal Tap treatment sounds wonderful!

Including all of the teachers and parents doing the Artie Fufkin grovelling "Kick my ass"!!

TheBiologyStupid · 24/09/2022 01:00

Wellies54 · 23/09/2022 22:33

This is just crying out for a Spinal Tap style mockumentary!

Sadly, all the way up to eleven will have a different meaning though...

I haven't read all of this thread so forgive me if this has already been said ...

With everyone concentrating so hard on everyone else's names, pronouns and gender expression, is any teaching or learning actually being done at this school?

Exactly this

PotatoHammock · 23/09/2022 17:42

I'm a teacher. At my school, we're not even allowed to refer to Benjamin as "Ben" without the parents signing it off on the official form! There is absolutely zero chance that we would start referring to Benjamin as "she" or "Kylie" without any discussion with the parents.

Cillery · 23/09/2022 17:31

Someone said, ‘why shouldn’t I tell my girl she’s a boy’, to which came the reply, ‘Because you shouldn’t tell lies to your kids’. Simple!

ScoldsBridal · 23/09/2022 17:15

I had to laugh at the children who obviously wanted to have the big, traumatic coming out anecdote and were bitterly disappointed because their Mums were practically putting out the bunting and encouraging their children to be special themselves. The one taking the piss out of her own child for getting the 'lingo' wrong ie. Gender fluent not fluid. Imagining having to have your Mum put you right on your gender identity.

It would be funny if it wasn't so fxxxing irresponsible.

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 23/09/2022 17:12

Rachel Watson said she first became aware her 14-year-old was non-binary when the child started wearing their younger brother’s clothes four years ago. When her child declared “I want to be boy” she urged them to do some research and they then said they were “gender fluid”.

Watson said: “I suspected they were more non-binary, neither gender rather than switching between the two. I said, ‘I have tried to raise you to know that you are not limited by society’s expectations of how a gender should perform such as boys don’t cry or girls can’t drive’.”

My Scottish grandfather would have incredulous in the 1950s and in the 1970s at the idea his daughter and granddaughter can't drive because they are girls.
