How can this be allowed?

'we stand firmly in support of our teachers' says Curtis Ennis of the district school board.

ArabellaScott · 20/09/2022 09:35

When this type of thing happens the strategy is usually furiously ignoring it because even the most ardent TRAs understand that it really can't be defended.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/09/2022 09:20

Have we had any TRAs on here defending this person yet? I know there were a few earlier on in the thread claiming it was a hoax. But I don’t think I’ve seen any of them doing the minimisation which normally follows once denial is no longer possible.

“It’s rude to look,” anyone? No? Or what about “if you think this is sexually motivated it’s because YOU’RE a pervert.” Come on, lads, you need to do better. “What about cis women with big breasts, should they be allowed to teach?” The absence of bullshit is strangely unsettling.

I'd like to hear what Margaret Atwood thinks of this.

Speaking of this, I haven't seen this as of yesterday in any mainstream media here in Canada.

Ritascornershop · 19/09/2022 23:09

What’s happened is that gender ideology is very firmly entrenched in Canadian schools, most Canadian schools let teachers dress casually so while it’s obviously way over the line, there often isn’t much in the way of expected dress for staff, and finally the teachers’ unions are very strong and admin and the school districts are terrified of having to deal with them.

Wow, even up to now, I still wanted to believe it would wouldn't be true! But clearly it is. Supporting someone sexual fetish, WTaF

Utterly astonishing.

One brave man protesting in a sort of baffled, outraged way.

One pupil who said he was fine wth the teacher who had a right to 'express' themself.

What would it take for a teacher to be pulled up or investigated?

Deep down, isn't this teacher actually screaming for someone, anyone, to instigate some fucking boundaries? I can see what is partially driving the behaviour, that's not hard to imagine. But on other levels, I do think this is a cry for help from a person embedded in an insane culture.

Wellies54 · 18/09/2022 21:04

Surely if a well respected long standing member of staff comes in one day and behaves really weirdly, they should be offered support and some time off. The school appear to not care about the wellbeing of their pupils, but also the wellbeing of this teacher, whose bizarre behaviour is being seen around the world, totally destroying their professional reputation. They seem so keen to be open minded that they've lost sight of what is appropriate. Everyone needs boundaries.

This. What's happened that the head teacher or other staff haven't reacted in a 'Nigel's having a breakdown and we need to get him help' way and quietly removed him from the classroom for his own sake as well as the pupils?

The Toronto Sun reports one lone protestor and a “heavy police presence”. 🙄 So anything goes in the name of not offending men with fetishes? m.youtube.com/watch?v=ayzyvfsCQs4

ImherewithBoudica · 19/09/2022 21:18

Having seen a picture of this person before they transitioned, they were a perfectly typically, appropriately dressed and smart person.

This is the problem with letting the lines between TQ+ and kink/fetish blur in the claim that this is just part and parcel of being TQ+ and hence expecting professional standards and appropriate behaviours is 'transphobic'. Once the line is removed between TQ+ people and people exploiting non consenting others in personal sexual experiences, and it's impossible to have appropriate boundaries? It's rather like not having boundaries between TQ+ people and male sex offenders raping women in prison. Or TQ+ people and male people invading women's spaces with swords in hand inviting them to suck their dicks. Or TQ+ people and people screaming at babies and throwing smoke bombs.

If the lobby will not state boundaries and separate TQ+ from inappropriate behaviour, if they choose to claim the behaviour as theirs, then there is little point in the TQ+ lobby whining that the general public sees TQ+ people as inappropriate or predators, and acts accordingly. The time to turn this around is rapidly running out.

If that was my colleague, I'd be going straight to the principal's office the next day with a massive dildo strapped to my forehead, to announce that I now identify as a dickhead.

Those poor children having to take part in this guy's fetish.

nepeta · 19/09/2022 20:41

When I first saw that I didn't believe it was real. When it became clear that it IS real, I saw it first as a grotesque parody of what it means to be a woman, and then thought of all the other things mentioned (child safeguarding, occupational safety, lack of proper mental support for the teacher turning into some sort of an impossible misogynistic caricature of womanhood etc.).

But the fact that this is a grotesque caricature of one biological sex does matter to me, a lot, because the way these rules are enforced means that the only rights the rules support are those of a transgender person wishing to do this. The possible negative consequences to others are ignored.

That others might be negatively affected by this is of no importance at all (their concerns are seen as apriori bigoted), so that it is fine to show students this rather novel interpretation of what being a women might mean, even if that interpretation is clearly a misogynistic one.

In reality everyone's rights are supposed to be taken into account. Here only one group's rights matter.

Treaclemine · 19/09/2022 20:37

For a couple of days now I have had this vision of this person tittupping down the stairs, tripping, and ending up on their back waving their legs and arms in th eair like a beetle utterly unable to get up.

Ritascornershop · 19/09/2022 20:26

I can’t see any coverage of a student or parent protests at the school today. I believe schools in Ontario are open today though. Anyone?

YesitsBess · 19/09/2022 20:14

@MichelleScarn that’s a very interesting point, and please where I struggle to square the circle myself. All of my acquaintances are older and post-op, did the whole living as a woman for two years thing etc etc. and I can’t speak for them. But I can ask.

One of them ‘passes’ so well you wouldn’t even notice IMO. Incredibly tricky one to navigate for me.

YesitsBess · 19/09/2022 20:11

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz she works from home so am assuming her own. However we have a close enough relationship that I might be able to put the question to her. We have had a very civil conversation where she understood that I will refer to her as a lady but never a woman because that’s important to me.

Interestingly the rest of the office is very small so we all just share one loo, but I appreciate that is very different to using a public loo.

Can you imagine if a female teacher went to school with a fake 12 inch penis shoved down her trousers?

If a female teacher went to school bra-less and her own natural boobs/nipples on display she would be told to go home and put something else on because she's "distracting the men/boys"! no doubt........

lordloveadog · 19/09/2022 15:25

Makes it very clear to female colleagues and pupils what this person thinks of them and what person is thinking about when looks at them.

purpleme12 · 18/09/2022 22:55

Yeah I guess that too

But this isn't a man who wants to be a woman is it.

This is clearly someone who just wants attention and who wants to do fancy dress

this is a fetish.

I very much hope that the children will be protected. The children are the ones that need a safety plan, ffs.

Absolutely this.

These kids are learning maths, English etc but also it’s their first experience of a workplace so workplace boundaries, dress codes, how adults deal with conflicts, how adults support vulnerable people with compassion but also honesty, how adults should interact with children, how adults should wear appropriate clothing when operating heavy machinery and saws...

We’re failing them.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11224383/High-school-defends-transgender-teacher-large-prosthetic-breasts.html the Mail has it now.
Watching this explode across the internet like a massive water filled balloon.

Oh my days - this is real.

And the school is doubling down on the teacher.

This is what happens when you don’t turn your brain on, you have to keep it off for every subsequent decision.

TheKeatingFive · 18/09/2022 21:13

It is real
