Lesbians not welcome at Gay Pride

This is horrifying. Women (lesbians) told by police they are going to be removed because abuse is being hurled at these women.

Police do nothing about the person shouting the abuse.

Bbc as always

Theeyeballsinthesky · 28/08/2022 11:55

Ah I see the midday shift has arrived to tell us that actually men can be lesbians

in other news the bbc remain as biased as ever and also too stupid to think we can’t see it

MargaritaPie · 28/08/2022 11:52

antelopevalley · 27/08/2022 14:46

It is NOT because they are lesbians.

From the comments this appears to be the case.

When they were removed lots of people (women and lesbians included) cheered. It appears they were removed for causing trouble and confrontation and their views do not represent the majority of women or lesbians.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 11:51

I agree. But it's interesting that they're so precious about meanings when it suits them.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 11:49

My point was tw, or tras, are constantly taking words and trying to redefine them to suit their own ideology.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 11:43

DoM

Perhaps you could answer my question. If someone has planned an event, should counter protests be removed by the police?

DisgustedofManchester · 28/08/2022 11:42

I was at Manchester Pride yesterday. Loads of Lesbians. Weird that eh?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 11:36

Do we think counter protests shouldn't be allowed anywhere? Should the TRAs that turn up to protest various feminist events be dragged off by the police?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 11:34

Oh, the hypocrisy.

It's because the only way to distinguish between female and male "trans women" would be their biological sex, and they don't appreciate the reminder of it. Even though it seems perfectly reasonable based on "transgender" being an umbrella term which includes "non binary"

Viviennemary · 28/08/2022 11:33

I read that a group of Lesbians were harrassing the trans gender marchers. Why cant they just live and let live and let folk be proud of who they are. I thought thats what its meant to be the whole point of it.

RedToothBrush · 28/08/2022 11:31

Being a lesbian is not a political choice. Anymore than its a lifestyle choice.

I thought we had got past this nonsense.

Lesbians should be able to protest about their political issues without fear anyway.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 11:29

Oh, the hypocrisy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 11:26

It's a big no no with TRAs to call yourself a "trans woman" if you are female NB. Jack Monroe did once and got a lot of flak for it.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 11:22

I can only recall the mail article calling her a transgender woman which isn't inaccurate if she's nb, but I didn't read it that carefully. However, I hope they amend it because that's not how most people will interpret it.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 28/08/2022 11:18

ArabellaScott · 28/08/2022 10:03

I thought non-binary was trans?

The next big internecine clash will be trans v non-binary because they're not intellectually coherent under the same umbrella.

QueenHippolyta · 28/08/2022 11:17

I love Angela Wilde, what a great fearless butch lesbian!
Also Germaine Greer, Julia Long, Sheila Jefferys,
these women are true feminist heroines
let's celebrate women
and forget pride

Tirediam · 28/08/2022 11:12

I asked for my comment to be removed as it’s outing to her and it’s not up to me to tell people who she is. But yes she’s a girl.
The story is on daily Mail and they’re calling her a trans woman as well.
No idea if they did. They’re on instagram and are pretty good at replying if you wanted to ask 😊

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 11:06

@Tirediam thanks for the reply. My eyebrows are gradually settling into their usual place. I feel a bit sorry for her now, but her conduct was inexcusable. Not that she was alone in that.

Does anyone know if Get the L Out applied for a place in the march? It makes little difference. I suspect if they did they'd have been turned down or made to march at the very back. And would still have been attacked as happened yesterday.

Well done to those women. I'm sorry you have been treated like this again.

The police were captured by TRAs a long time ago and I'm not sure what it will take for them to stop bowing down to these bullies, predominantly led by straight white males.

The story is in the Daily Mail.

thegrandbleu · 28/08/2022 10:36

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 28/08/2022 08:46

That was very clear

im confused as to how 10 women ‘stopped’ the march….I thought from that policeman video that the women were marching as well

There's a longer video that adds a bit more context

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 28/08/2022 10:02

I was just talking to dd about the pride event she attended

she saiid there were some religious types with placards telling everyone they were going to hell i asked if theyd been moved on by police and she said no…

i told her about the police removing these women

My dd hasn't quite connected all the dots yet. She hasn't been to pride. I hope she doesn't. Her friends all seem.quite shy and sweet. I think it would be a huge shock to them.all to discover that something that was supposed to represent them now hates them so much.

hewouldwouldnthe · 28/08/2022 10:19

So sad that the whole pride and LGBT movement has been polarised in this way.

Sazzasez · 28/08/2022 10:13

Nellodee · 28/08/2022 07:34

I think it’sa bit disingenuous to say they were thrown out for being lesbian when they went straight to the front of the march with banners that they knew would draw this kind of reaction. The reaction was presumable totally expected. I support their right to be there, I think they are brave protesters and this is a visible and well planned protest. I also think the way they were treated stands in stark contrast to the way black clad tras were treated by the police. However, I don’t think they were thrown out for being lesbian, they were thrown out for counter protesting. They weren’t just taking part in the march with different opinions. I almost think that would be even better publicity if they just joined quietly at the back, as I think the outcome would be the same and it would really highlight the bigotry of the rest of the crowd and the police, but who am I to criticise? At least they’re out there, doing something that matters.

Get the L Out stated that the police told them to march at the front of the parade.

the official Pride organisers don’t allow them in the actual parade.

Helleofabore · 28/08/2022 10:08

And if NB is trans, why are they so offended at being mistaken for a transitioned male?

I wonder if this sets the dissonance alarm off? That they are not actually the true believers they thought and were loudly virtue signaling in a video clip that has spread throughout the world…
