Lesbians not welcome at Gay Pride

This is horrifying. Women (lesbians) told by police they are going to be removed because abuse is being hurled at these women.

Police do nothing about the person shouting the abuse.

The QT+ is a very different campaign. It seems to be all MRA based.

You've clearly never been involved in a campaign for transgender rights.

but there's nothing of the sort happening in the real world,

That's a flat out lie, and some of the usual gaslighting associated with this topic. I'm a lesbian and I can assure disinterested readers that there is a division.

Course it is. That's why they go bananas over get the L out, Drop the T, and the LGBA. Not to mention FWR.

The absolute stupidity of trying to convince people that they're not worried about something they're determined to shut down 🙄

The 'T community' is full of straight men. All those middle aged men who suddenly discover their inner 'lesbian' for example.

This is what happens when you do all your research on the internet and never actually go out and meet the community you're so clearly obsessed with.

AgnestaVipers · 02/09/2022 22:04

The LGB Alliance was founded by several of the people who founded Stonewall. Presumably in your view they have become straight in the process.

God, the utter nonsense being spouted by these TRAs.

Just in case anyone cares about the bizarre allegation above:
lgballiance.org.uk/

LGB Alliance said under oath only 7% of their supporters/subscribers are lesbians: twitter.com/tribunaltweets/status/1521512107774205954

For an 'LGB' organisation that is very low. Most of their support is from the straight community. They are loathed by most LGBT people who know what they stand for.

Just to be clear, hearach, which organisation is it you that you claim wanda has confused with the LGBA? I'm not sure your post makes sense.
One that is confusable with the LGBA? And how so?

"The LGBT community won't split. A tiny number of transphobes have left and no one is missing them."

That's because it's now full of spicy straights, men with fetishes and 12 year old girls.

Only someone with no involvement in the community thinks it's full of "straights". You must be confusing the average LGBT organisation with the LGB Alliance. Now that really is a movement for straights.

antelopevalley · 02/09/2022 21:01

There are lots of lesbians who do not really care much one way or another. It is not a big issue for everyone.

antelopevalley · 02/09/2022 17:49

The lesbians cheering were probably just glad the protestors had been removed and they could get on with the march.

Of course, because the sort of lesbians who'd dislike the point they were making are the sort groomed to accept dick in their dating pool.

The LGBT community won't split. A tiny number of transphobes have left and no one is missing them.

Nailed it.

Posters on these boards can try as hard as they like to fraudulently pitch a division within the community, but there's nothing of the sort happening in the real world, and the posts from one of the march protesters on this very thread demonstrates that.

IcakethereforeIam · 02/09/2022 18:05

Do you think they'd have been allowed to register and carry those banners?

"Lesbians are welcome as long as they don't point out that a lesbian is actually a same sex attracted female?"

I think it's more the fact they were obstructing and holding up the parade.

You've not heard about the colonisation of lesbian spaces by men to the point where women cannot gather without the presence of a penis-haver, or the cotton ceiling, or indeed just read the comments here implying that lesbians who insist they are same-sex attracted are transphobes, then.

And furries. Must never forget the furries. Men dressed as puppies.
Oh and babies. Big bearded babies.
And wannabe YA writers who fanfic Twilight and hate JKR have worked out that they can cosplay the Q part.
Did I miss anyone?

With all the pronouns and navel gazing they won't notice the door shutting quietly as the L escapes.

👏

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 02/09/2022 17:36

Lots of people (lesbians included) cheered when they were moved on.

How very bread and circuses to judge such matters by the volume of cheering.

What sort of lesbians were among those who were allegedly cheering? The same-sex attracted sort or the 'Effectively, I have no preferences' sort?

antelopevalley · 02/09/2022 17:35

Thanks for the twitter link.

I am fine with people protesting. Protest is an important part of civil society. But protest also leads to others complaining and often the police getting involved. The police got involved because it was a protest. That is normal.

IcakethereforeIam · 02/09/2022 17:31

I'd love to believe that Get the L Out would have been allowed to register and carry those banners.

I don't see what this has to do at all with the fact they are lesbians. I think saying "lesbians not welcome at gay pride" is completely misleading

Lesbians are welcome as long as they don't point out that a lesbian is actually a same sex attracted female?

Welcome only as long as they go along with a homophobic ideology that claims males can be lesbians too?

Lesbians welcome as long as they do not carry banners saying penises not welcome or get the L out.

The police released a statement here: www.south-wales.police.uk/news/south-wales/news/2022/aws-aug/pride-cymru-statement/

Basically it's an organised event and to march you need to register. This group hadn't registered and were obstructing the people who had from marching. The police offered advice and asked them to move on which they did. Lots of people (lesbians included) cheered when they were moved on.

The pride event also had many lesbians who marched and spectated.

I don't see what this has to do at all with the fact they are lesbians. I think saying "lesbians not welcome at gay pride" is completely misleading.

If it helps here is an account of what happened from someone who was part of the parade:
