Someone explain to Sara about sharing loos

I'm so tired. They really don't get it or understand why women don't wanna share with men. The second we metaphorically and actually open our spaces for them to use too we're putting ourselves at risk but people like her care more about someones feelings being hurt than real women potentialy being attacked (and not necessarily by TW but by any man) because its okay for anyone to say they're whatever sex they want and we all have to grin and bear it. @ancientgran - it is not necessarily “women marking their territory” with used sanitary towels lying around…. Some TW (not all, blah, blah) actual seek out (take out of sanpro bins) used pads/etc to role play with/put in their own pants/whatever else might make them happy….
^ This has been previously discussed on FWR, and is posted by some of the people involved on various social media - they have put it out in the public arena.
🤮🤮🤢🤮

I find it hard to imagine there are that many TW in my small town who happen to go to the same loo as me and leave it like that. Maybe some of it is that.

It really does take all sorts doesn't it.

I haven't seen this in our new loos. Sanitary towels lying about is another matter. I feel women are marking their territory with used sanitary towels. Don't know about anyone else but I don't find used sanitary towels attractive to look at and every time I have been to the news loos I've seen this, seems weird to me.

This is what particularly worries me, unisex loos in school. I saw a debate on Twitter where someone had said that they didn't like unisex toilets with communal sinks because girls might be embarrassed to be washing blood off their hands when they have their period. So many people replied that it was great because it would let boys see the reality of periods, and the girls would be able to talk freely and it would remove the stigma and wouldn't that be great?

Well, no, it wouldn't, because what will happen is that some girls will either avoid school, or not use the toilets all day when they have their period.

They don't know much about teenage boys, do they? Fucking hell....

In the US, those 1-2% of sexual crimes committed women are overwhelmingly crimes where the woman is an accomplice to a male. Considering we have very similar sex ratios when looking at sexual crimes in the US (vs. gun crimes where we have FAR MORE than the UK), it's a pretty apples to apples comparison, so I imagine a lot of UK women in the 2% range are women committing a sex crime in league with a man.

Yes, that’s my understanding of it too, especially so if the victim is female and/or a child.

The majority of sex crimes that women are solely responsible for are the female teacher (or similar role) adolescent boy abusers.
It’s still sexual abuse and needs to be taken seriously (especially as the perp is in a position of trust) and it can be seriously detrimental to the victims in the medium and long term but it’s not happening in changing spaces and toilets so not relevant to this discussion. It would be relevant in terms of creating robust safeguarding frameworks in schools, but that’s a different thread.

Delphinium20 · 25/08/2022 23:41

*committed by women

I wonder how many of the 1% of sex crimes committed by ‘female’ perps are actually committed by male transitioners with the legal sex of ‘female’?

and of those who are actually female, I wonder how many have female victims?
and how many of those female victims are strangers?
and how many of those female on female crimes perpetrated by strangers take place in a ladies lav?

I bet we are pretty much down to zero percent by that point, so all this whataboutery by GreyCouncil is irrelevant to this thread.

feel free to start a new one tho, GC.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 25/08/2022 17:37

Well to be honest I would rather the sexual offences didn't happen at all or were at the very least vastly decreased. It's all well and good prosecuting and finding people guilty but would it not be better if they hadn't been able to commit the crime in the first place?

Stats show that more sexual assaults take place in unisex changing rooms than in single sex changing rooms.

Stats show that prosecution rates are not improving.

Why would you want to open up more facilities to unisex, invite more sexual assaults, when it's evident that there is absolutely no importance being placed on prosecuting these crimes by the Home Office?

It's not about caring more for victims of men than women. Of course.

It's about risk assessment. If you sex segregate places where women are vulnerable, you instantly reduce their risk of predation more than any other way.

Pretending that sex segregation doesn't massively reduce risk, on the basis of women do it too, won't wash.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/08/2022 17:34

Dear Lord some posters are boring with their trite supposed gotchas that we've heard so many times before. Takes me right back to the days of oldfashioned late night blokes posting on FWR.

SweetSenorita · 25/08/2022 17:33

LateSummerLobelia · 24/08/2022 13:51

And no, I am NOT saying that all TW are predators. I am saying that the whole point of this self fucking ID is that you cannot identify who is a genuine TW who wants to go about their life peacefully and who is a predatory man laughing at the situation we are now in and that we are now told to accept because otherwise we are apparently transphobes.

Obviously.

Even if you could determine who's predatory and who isn't, I still wouldn't want a transwoman in my female spaces. He can go and live his peaceful life in the men's area with the other men.

@GreyCouncil you either don't understand risk assessment or you are being deliberately obtuse.

According to ONS reports, females (the kind born with vaginas, vulvas....you know the ones, they get abandoned for being inferior to males or have their genitals cut off and stitched together, they get forced into marriage from age 8 up and in some countries they're not allowed to receive an education) are 4 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than males.

98% of the perpetrators are men (people born with a penis, just in case you were unsure what a man is, although generally that seems to be less confusing than defining what a woman is for some reason???)

In the 2020 report which is the latest iteration, 2.9% of all women in England and Wales had experienced sexual assault in the previous year and of the reported cases 84% of the victims were female.

So yes 2% of sexual assaults are committed by women and 16% of the victims are male.

But I think it's very fair to say that overwhelmingly it is Men who commit the crime and Females who are the victims. So Females need to have safeguards against Men.

Treaclemine · 25/08/2022 16:42

’m sure the thousands of victims of sexual abuse perpetrated by women feel so much better with that sentiment.

So the one percent commit thousands of obviously unreported sexual crimes, since we don't know abou them, which must mean that the victims of the 99% amount to nearly tems of thousands, for whom you show no concern.

Treaclemine · 25/08/2022 16:38

"“They are using the facilities they feel most comfortable in. Please don’t take that away from them."
And ignore that that request has just taken the same right away from women, who have no alternative.
Unles it is by leaving building and running though the rain to some building providing single sex places, as the black computer operators had to do in NASA (See "Hidden Figures")

334bu · 25/08/2022 16:16

’m sure the thousands of victims of sexual abuse perpetrated by women feel so much better with that sentiment.

Why are you minimising the threat men and gender non confirming males pose to women? 99+% of sexual predators are male oi statistically they are much more likely to abuse women than the 0.8% of female predators

Malie · 25/08/2022 16:14

I note the Alan Turing Institute for Artificial Intelligence has put up a notice:

The poster in the Institute reads: “Do you feel like someone is using the ‘wrong’ bathroom? Please don’t stare at them, challenge them or purposefully make them feel uncomfortable.
“They are using the facilities they feel most comfortable in. Please don’t take that away from them.
“Instead please respect their privacy, respect their identity, carry on with your day and protect them from harm. Everyone has the right to be here, in this office and in this world.
“We respect our Turing community to contribute to a culture that is inclusive and free of barriers.”

one wonders what sort of intelligence these guys are producing?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/08/2022 16:06

I’m sure the thousands of victims of sexual abuse perpetrated by women feel so much better with that sentiment.

That's not how risk analysis works.

"pretending women can’t be sexual predators is very convenient for you. Less so for their victims."

Pretending that the less than 1%of women convicted of sex offences is the same as the 99% of men convicted is very convenient for those trying to minimise the threat all male people ,no matter their gender identity ,pose to women. Less so for the victims of such men.

This is a UK forum so obviously the law here is our focus.

UK law acknowledges that sexual assault with a penis (ie rape) carries the additional threat to the victim of possible pregnancy and STIs.

Fascinating how much energy some people put into trying to convince others that women are just as rapey and threatening as men.

Masculine-looking women' are surely more likely to be getting the side-eye in a mixed-sex facility, because we no longer have that confidence and are therefore more on edge.

Yes. I'm probably not the only one now who looks at tall or otherwise masculine looking women, wondering if it's really a bloke. Up until a couple of years ago this would never have occurred to me.

And surely it only takes a second glance to see that they are women. I don't buy the whole 'if you don't let transwomen in then butch/gender non conforming women will be discriminated against' . We had plenty of butch and gnc women in the 80's and no one hassled them. It is easy to tell.
