The thing about the stickers that really annoyed me is that it is trying to erase female biology. To deny that it exists. People with female anatomy do exist and we should be entitled to discuss it freely. In exactly the same way that people with male anatomy should be able to discuss problems which affect them. Why should a physio who specialises in female anatomy be expected to discuss male anatomy, which isn't her area of expertise?

Would you feel the same if it were a trans healthcare worker treated like this for a show about trans people?

But as I understand it, she DOES do trans healthcare too (for the problems specific to transmen), whether or not she talks about that in the fringe show.

Two people picking apart the language on that FB post now. ConfusedBut that's two out of so so so many. Everyone who has seen the show is saying they loved it.

I'm on the same group, and I'm finding two things reassuring

  1. the ratio of positive to negative comments. The vast majority are supporting Elaine and most of them aren't names I recognise as particularly GC feminists. This is women calling this bullshit on a big public fb group. En masse.
  2. how silly the complaints sound. We've got "assigned female at birth" and someone claiming the show is transphobic based on "I heard" who has bern fairly clearly told that if you've not seen it you shouldn't be saying that and looks fairly daft as a result. They aren't convincing anyone imo.

Fantastic article. Glorious to see a woman who has clearly had enough.

Your link doesn’t seem to work - here it is again - good article, thanks for the heads up Smile

That's not inclusion, that's what we used to call being a dog in the manger. Just because someone doesn't have a vulva they want to spoil everyone else's fun.

PriOn1 · 19/08/2022 21:38

Wish I could go too! Hope all you wonderful women have a great time. Elaine is brilliant (you need to do the exercises BEFORE you see the show mind).

hedgehogger1 · 19/08/2022 20:58

Sounds like a fab show for women. Not everything has to be for everyone... people need to grow the fuck up

I am heartened to see a post about this on an Edinburgh based FB page - hundreds of likes in support of Elaine and not one unsupportive comment. Maybe telling women they can't talk about their specific biology is finally being revealed as the misogyny it clearly is.

Name change for this.

Except someone has popped up tonight on said post picking apart the language to promote the play (I.e women) as we all know, some women (post op transwomen) don't have vulvas. So it's not inclusive is it 🙄

Would sincerely love to tell the inclusion warrior to fuck clean off.

Namechangeforthis88 · 19/08/2022 17:45

I would never have picked this but a friend suggested it. We roared with laughter and I was surprised how much I learnt. Fantastic.

Spitting at someone isn’t just disgusting, it’s illegal. It counts as assault. Any chance police in Edinburgh might take action when a woman is assaulted? Or are they too busy, as in England, harassing women who won’t say TWAW?

applesandpears33 · 19/08/2022 13:12

Just watched that clip. I'm a bit nervous about the menopause now - I had no idea that the symptoms were life changing for one third of women. Or the long term effects of not doing your pelvic floor exercises post pregnancy.

RoyalCorgi · 19/08/2022 11:09

I love Gussie Grips. Don't let the bastards get you down, Elaine.

Just found this - speech by Elaine about 5 months ago at Alloa womens festival. This will be going on my Facebook page for sure!
along with some choice comments about what is happening in Edinburgh…
Absolutely brilliant!

StClare101 · 19/08/2022 03:30

If I lived in Scotland I think I’d be considering leaving. It’s gone too far, and yes TRA’s are just MRA’s by another name. Even worse when they are women.
