So should I be worried if a young man starts to bleed? It's normal right?
When will our son's start their periods?

The other thread running about periods has been deleted.
These threads are ALWAYS deleted, every single time, specifically about periods.

I wonder who it is in MNHQ that believes that stating "men do not have periods"
is so damn offensive.

Someone certainly seems to think that's and outlandish statement to make apparently.

The thing is, if you follow the genderists' terminology, men do have periods. Because TMAM, to them.

(Not all transboys / transmen have testosterone administered and of those who do, all have periods for some time, and a minority continue to do so even after a year.)

Which just goes to show how confusing garbled language is.

Transgender males

You mean transwomen / transgirls? There are no drugs or surgery that can make them menstruate. Any transgender male who is bleeding from a constructed vagina needs medical advice.

See how dangerous these word games can be?

It would be really very handy if there was a word for people of the female sex category, wouldn't it. That would solve all these problems, because people would know that people of the female sex category can identify as whichever acquired gender identity they choose, but it would be a concise and clear way to address advice that is aimed at those who have periods.

If only there was a word for people of the female sex category...

Ha!
Love this.

Or as people who have wombs and shed there lining mostly monthly, via a vagina !

😂

ZeldaFighter · 14/11/2022 13:37

So, can women sue? Can we start seeing these policy writers in court to explain themselves?

Advocates for transgender people seem to have established very successfully that trans people's needs should be taken into consideration. How do women do that?

ShamedBySiri · 14/11/2022 13:22

We want to empower girls and young people that have periods as well all those around them to be period proud, so join the movement and let's normalise periods together."

Don't bleed but want to support?" has been changed to "Don't have periods but want to support?",

I'm all for people recognising that periods are part of the normal female life cycle and removing stigma. But personally I've never felt a desire to be "period proud" and I can't say I would welcome "support" from random men or whoever those supporters are that don't bleed.

I really think most women and girls prefer a little privacy. It feels like going from one extreme to the other.

DameHelena · 14/11/2022 10:28

To be clear and fair, it does say 'women and girls'. The whole phrase is 'women, girls and people who have periods'.
I don't agree with it, BTW; 'women and girls' is obviously correct, accurate and therefore the clearest way of putting it.
They're trying to have their cake and eat it by getting in their 'non-transphobic' credentials at the same time as using 'women, girls' so they can't be accused of erasing them.

Babdoc · 14/11/2022 10:21

BuryingAcorns, transmen are women. By listing them separately you are implying that some group other than women also have periods. Which is not true.
To quote Alice Cooper: Only women bleed.

Why not say women and transmen? It is the same number of words but far clearer.

Also, the "Period dictionary" refers to "the female genitals" when explaining words like vagina, vulva and uterus/womb. So that's good.

However, under "Puberty" it says "When a child’s body begins to develop including growing pubic hair, boobs starting to develop, growing taller and starting your period." It would be much better as "When a girl's body begins to develop..." Children includes boys and boys don't develop boobs or start periods.

Try wayback machine (archive.org). Although it has a few issues right now.

archive.ph has a copy from
August.

Ta. It does have some pages.

"Don't bleed but want to support?" has been changed to "Don't have periods but want to support?", which is better.

Anyone remember this?

Well, the wording has been changed, to an extent.

E.g. from the home page "We want to empower girls and young people that have periods as well all those around them to be period proud, so join the movement and let's normalise periods together."

bloodybrilliant.wales/

BTW, the criticism of the original material was covered on the Wales Online and
Metro websites, which astonished me, frankly.

I do wish I'd known how to archive the original Bloody Brilliant website, though. For the purposes of comparison (and derision).

People who bleed regularly from their vagina is even more ambiguous and regular bleeding outside of menstruation needs to be checked.

Women and girls works just fine. Seriously these snowflakes need to toughen the fuck up, sick of the pandering to their attention seeking.

Menstruating isn't bleeding. It's the shedding of the uterine wall. Bleeding is blood escaping from the circulatory system from damaged blood vessels. They aren't the same thing. There is blood in your period but it's not all blood, it's largely sloughed off endometrial cells and it's not actually bleeding.

Having been very confused and worried by primary school sex ed descriptions of bleeding for five days, I've explained to my children that a period looks like blood but isn't, and doesn't mean that you're hurt or bleeding, so they'd be baffled as to who "people who bleed" might be.

caringcarer · 10/08/2022 22:37

More absolute nonsense and it makes me angry because tax payers money are being wasted on this absolute rubbish.

Enough4me · 10/08/2022 22:32

I do know that only females have periods and that gender is just a theory, so maybe I'll give the trans labels that don't make sense a miss for now.

pink85 · 10/08/2022 21:06

Temporaryname158 still hasn't responded, funny that

'People who bleed across Wales' sounds even weirder. Like someone has cut their leg and is now running around Wales!

Lol. Indeed. This is an easy posturing for our Welsh Assembly Government who find it easier to trample all over women's language than sort out employment problems in rural areas.

Oh dear, you are so wrong. About cheese that is. Cheese preferences are perfectly logical and based on fact not feelings.

I don’t know… those who like smoked cheese are clearly nuts and have exceptionally bad taste…

If you bleed from your vagina post-menopause then you require an emergency gynaecology appointment to check for cancer.

If you bleed from your vagina post sex abuse then that may indicate internal injury.

If you bleed from your vagina when pregnant then that may indicate a miscarriage, molar pregnancy or placenta previa (emergency)

'People who bleed' sounds like haemophiliacs

this.
it is not people who bleed. It is women and girls who menstruate.

I’ll just repeat it one more time:

if you bleed from your vagina post menopause you MUST check for cancer (my mum’s best friend left it too long, sadly)

if you bleed from your vagina after sex abuse you may have an injury.

if you bleed from your vagina when pregnant you may have a miscarriage, molar pregnancy or placenta previa so must see a doctor.

not «bleed all over Wales» for fucks sake.
