Some gardening will be needed soon methinks.

As another poster pointed out, Allison and Maya have won me the clearly stated right to hold 'gender-critical' (ie feminist) views without harassment or police action, and the right to express these views openly. In theory, I already had those rights, but like gender self-ID, censorship has been quietly slipped into practice.

I consider the odd donation to a crowdfunder a very small price to pay.

moofolk · 15/08/2022 09:40

Both of those are Twitter accounts btw

@ThinkingaboutLangClegosaurus

Does anyone know if someone's keeping a list of all the women's rights/ free speech cases that have come to court since the trans stuff began?

@tribunaltweets and @StoatlyL report from tribunals. I don't know if they have a full record but would be a good place to start

If they don't have a full history we should try to compile one.

The absolute state of SW at the Allison Bailey tribunal - worth every penny to see that pantomime played out and have the judge faithfully record it for posterity.

Tanith · 13/08/2022 18:11

What GreyCouncil conveniently forgets is that the half million was made necessary by Stonewall and GCC deliberately adding witnesses and costs in an effort to force Allison to abandon her case.
It didn’t work.

The money was well spent because, for the first time, the absolute shambles that is Stonewall and their legal team, not to mention their support dogs/people/cuddly toys, was laid bare.
It’s made organisations realise that these are the charlatans they’ve been using for advice.

Pluvia · 05/08/2022 10:33

You're not aware of Jo Phoenix v Open University, of Raquel Rosario Sanchez v Bristol?

Hard to keep track of all the cases I've read about, and I'm delighted about that! Heroic women one and all, with each case putting an unwelcome spotlight on Stonewall and their acolytes.

In most cases, the judgement, whether fully favourable or not, has added to the mounting pile of evidence other women can use. Remember that judge (in Maya's original case, I think) who found that a belief in the facts of biology was 'not worthy of respect in a democratic society? I bet that woke a few people up!

If any concerned prospective parents wanted to share the info with the institution online that might get them thinking.

Planted a few spuds this morning and some lettuce (they both go well with carrots). Sorry you're going through this Gritty and FFS men can post naked pictures online but heaven help us if women understand biology.

GrittyTruth · 12/08/2022 19:21

Thanks for all the carrots!

LK1972 · 12/08/2022 19:01

@GrittyTruth What a lovely day for gardening, good luck - few carrots added to your allotment Smile

Oh right @titchy - I just saw all the business details. It’s a private company though, which may mean the Principal who’s appears to have discriminated against @GrittyTruth (picking my words carefully) is a manager and businessman, not an actual academic.

This is part of the problem. Students are seen as 'customers' throughout HE, but more so in a private institution.

Had the principal taken any time to get to know me, he'd know how valuable a critical and open lecturer is to students and staff.

As it was, they seem to have been scared of bad press. Which is ironic ...

titchy · 12/08/2022 18:04

And the discrimination claim is no weaker by dint of their legal status as an employer. Public sector, private sector, charity - all have to abide by Equalities law.

Doesn't matter - it's still a regulated institution.

More than happy to dead head a few flowers today. Good luck with the funder.

catandcoffee · 12/08/2022 17:57

@GrittyTruth your garden is doing well.
I will be along tomorrow to sow some 🥕
Well done you 👏

GoodThinkingMax · 12/08/2022 17:49

And I’ll be gardening. My lectures on feminism pretty much do the sex/gender explanation. It’s pretty fundamental for studying feminist thought of the last 200 years.

I have a permanent position but each time I teach my women’s history module, I await a specious claim of “transphobia.”

titchy · 12/08/2022 17:48

Problem is, the BIMM isn’t a real university- it’s a network of privately owned FE colleges.

It's an alternative provider, but registered with OfS who have awarded it university status. So not really problematic.

GoodThinkingMax · 12/08/2022 17:41

UCUNoMore · 04/08/2022 17:28

Finally someone suing a university about this. And hopefully the awfulness of the union will be exposed as well. I’ll definitely be gardening.

Problem is, the BIMM isn’t a real university- it’s a network of privately owned FE colleges.

This doesn’t detract from Ms Boardman’s case, but this case won’t necessarily have an impact on universities - at least no more than already heard cases such as Bailey and Forstater.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 12/08/2022 17:25

Don't worry. S/he/fae didn't donate to Allison and wouldn't have to you. Fae is just worried we will.

GrittyTruth · 12/08/2022 17:21

Ok.

I absolutely understand that some people don't want to, don't agree, or can't afford to get their hands dirty digging which is a-ok.

I tried to put as much info on the gardening suggestions as possible but also open to other question I want to be as open and honest as possible.

YOU LOT ARE AMAZING AND HAVE BEEN INSPIRING ME THROUGH THE PAST FEW YEARS!!!

Good-o.

Here's a list of causes to donate to. Do make sure to supply screenshots of your donations, otherwise I might think your post was disingenuous attempt to stir, typed with the end of a spoon.

You wouldn't want me to think that, would you.

I think anyone who regards allegiance to the Suffragette cause as “rancid” is telling us quite a lot about themselves.

Couldn't agree more

GrittyTruth · 12/08/2022 16:15

What a lovely day! Who's out in the garden?

I'll be posting some gardening tips on my twitter feed at 5pm.

Manderleyagain · 11/08/2022 22:09

Thanks Gritty. I will keep my eyes peeled for the crowd funder.
