Sorry I can't share the article, but liked this:

What is the funniest thing that has happened in your job?

As a result of my work in this area, apparently becoming an object of admiration on Mumsnet [the Internet parents' forum] - improbable in many ways.

😁

Go Ben!

Loved the MN shoutout and loved the reference to shoddy bundles.

You are definitely an Honorary Viper. Welcome to you and your support wren.

Copium goes back to when Donald Trump won the US presidency in 2016, it's not specifically used by incels.

Regularly does not mean specifically.

Regularly means it is currently used regularly by incels if women deem themselves to not want to be raped or murdered by males, many of whom are incels. Other people may also use it. It may come from a different source.

But incels do use it regularly against women.

Naomi Cunningham, a barrister who is one of the founders of the group Sex Matters, said: “Many will have joined Stonewall’s schemes hoping for guidance on how to make their workplaces fairer and more inclusive. What they got was encouragement to write equality, diversity and inclusion policies that are in themselves discriminatory.”

Nutshell.

Yep. It baffles me that Stonewall has charitable status that allows it to collect money on the basis that it campaigns for equality, when it so often appears to be campaigning for policies that discriminate.

Hi Ben! (Congratulations.) Legal question for you. If Stonewall fundraises from donors like Tesco etc by saying it fights for equality, and then uses that money to instead fight for the promotion of transactivist political policies that undermine equality, what’s the status of the money…

It is used regularly by the incels when they get owned by feminists on twitter. For example when women get rape and death threats they tell us to 'cope'. As if we haven't been coping with male pattern violence and threats for a fair amount of our lives.

@whereareyounow well now I know what copium is - it's good to learn something every day.

Anyone fancy a dry martini right now?

I miss Ben, he needs his own show. Clever and self deprecating, what a great guy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2022 11:41

It does.

Jeez, if you can read the judgement and view what Stonewall did as a win, your bar is so low, you might want to take limbo lessons.

Remember the proposed Olympic sport of "ducking under a bar" Datun? For a fair go for the ladies if we couldn't excel in athletics etc, from a former poster on this site? Grin

That's right!! We should only enter sports that were tailored to our physique, if I remember.

Ducking under a bar being the first, and if my memory serves, only one, the poster could come up with.

Frankly, it seems like a sport far more suitable to those who think Stonewall is winning at this, or anything, tbh

It's a bit early in the morning to be drinking toasts rather than eating it, but nevertheless 🍸🍸

I take that's a couple of "Dry martini[s], enjoyed in good company", Errol!

AlisonDonut · 04/08/2022 11:22

Ben is great.

But another great find is the other Ben Cooper on Twitter.

Two for the price of one.

MidsomerMurmurs · 04/08/2022 11:15

From the second article:
”the tribunal said Bailey’s belief that women were defined by sex, as well as the contrary position that gender was a matter of self-identity, were protected by equality legislation”

WHY is it so difficult to report accurately? Those two positions are not contrary. If journalists mean sex, they should write “sex”.

“Gender” can’t be anything else than a matter of self-identity. 🙄

KatVonlabonk · 04/08/2022 11:12

Yey! Ben's bloody great!

WinterTrees · 04/08/2022 11:10

It's hilarious that people still drop into these threads to insist that Allison didn't win 😂

Pyjamagame · 04/08/2022 10:59

Just off to read the article(s) but stopping by to say...

I love you Ben!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/08/2022 10:45

TheBestBitch · 04/08/2022 10:25

There's also an article in the Times law section with the headline

Firms 'should quit LGBT scheme'

If someone can share?

There's a link upthread (ResisterRex at 08:25)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2022 10:44

The comments by Allison about the cotton ceiling were considered a protected act even though people found them offensive.

Julie Bindel wrote:

Although GCC claimed that the language used by Bailey went beyond the belief that sex rather than gender is fundamentally important, the tribunal found that all of Bailey’s pleaded beliefs, not just the belief that “woman is sex not gender”, are protected (this protection was established by the Employment Appeal Tribunal in the case brought by Maya Forstater).

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2022 10:39

And it's yet more reinforcement that it's not appropriate to discriminate against people simply for holding and expressing gender critical beliefs. The tweet that GCC sent was inappropriate.

Igmum · 04/08/2022 10:37

*discriminates - doh! 🤦‍♀️ oh for an edit button
