Sorry I can't share the article, but liked this:

What is the funniest thing that has happened in your job?

As a result of my work in this area, apparently becoming an object of admiration on Mumsnet [the Internet parents' forum] - improbable in many ways.

😁

From your link:

The likelihood of you being ordered to pay costs is very low if your claim is a reasonable one and your behaviour has been reasonable at all times

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/08/2022 00:26

At it is her most important claim against Garden Courts (loss of income) was thrown out. Had she won that she would have been entitled to substantial compensation whereas she spent 500k to win 22k - and she could well have to pay Stonewall's costs as well.

That generally doesn't happen in employment tribunals.

Sunfriedegg · 08/08/2022 00:08

dont feed the troll

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:39

*outrage, not outage, though both are terrible 😱

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:36

*on the barricades, sorry comrade

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:36

The Stonewall lawyers are most amazing in fact @Hearach15 , as they have done clever things like 'learned about different cultural and religious norms, which helped me understand how to make a workplace more inclusive. I also gained the confidence to ask about cultural differences that I did not understand.' amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/aug/05/suella-bravermans-woke-hr-attorney-general-whitehall-diversity-training

But nasty Tories are removing EDI training, making many poor employment lawyers possibly work too hard in the future, it's an outage in the making, and I will stand with you in the barricades to make sure that doesn't happen!

Where do we meet?

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:15

Isn't that right @Hearach15 ?

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:14

Their lawyers were particularly brilliant in presenting most credible witnesses, too, and were a very strong and decisive voice (in who exactly was the source of derisive remarks).

They were certainly worth their retainer, not like those silly GC people, feted by extreme far-right press, like the Times.

The Stonewall lawyers only publish their very important opinions in the Guardian, that other shining example of women's right upholder!

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 23:09

Gosh, for all the lovely gloating visitors- sure, let's see how much people are prepared to accept advice and 'feedback' from this organisation that throws (those who were foolhardy enough to pay them) their clients under the bus, publicly, in court.

So stunning, so brave!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/08/2022 23:00

Now that the work that a real LGBT charity should be doing

Yes, it is.

What they should not be doing is this stuff
Stonewall's "campaigning on gender theory is sexist and homophobic" and it is "complicit" in "threats against women (including threats of violence and sexual violence)". "Gender theory as proselytised by [Stonewall] is severely detrimental to women for numerous reasons" and is "severely detrimental to lesbians [...] This is inherently homophobic [....]".

It would be a win for everyone (except extreme transactivists) if they'd get back to doing what they should be doing and stop their rot.

Hearach15 · 07/08/2022 22:53

Datun · 07/08/2022 22:45

Well Hearach, stonewall have certainly won at being sexist, homophobic, complicit in threats against women, detrimental to women and severely detrimental to lesbians.

They win at all that for sure. Hands down.

Interesting that you say that.

I recommend you watch the excellent documentary "Fleeing Afghanistan: Free To Be Me" about LGBT people who fled Afghanistan for safety and freedom in Britain with the help of Stonewall.

Ye, @Hearach15 , Stonewall has won and its reputation shines bright as a star (only slightly dimmed by the luminosity of its lawyers). I'm glad we agree, and sure your glee is fully justified.

Goodnight, you've proved us all wrong once again (walks away muttering 'those pesky kids') 😘

"Stonewall has won" - never was a truer word spoken on this thread! 😎

LK1972 · 07/08/2022 22:31

And I'm sorry for being overfamiliar there @Hearach15 , I kinda get attached to our most persistent botherers on this board, got to give you the kudos for perseverance Wink

[A]nd she could well have to pay Stonewall's costs as well.

That's not how Employment Tribunals work, Hearach.

Not always.

"Occasionally, though, an Employment Tribunal will order that you have to pay your employer’s costs if you lose the claim."

www.truthlegal.com/knowledge-centre/costs-position-in-employment-tribunals/#:~:text=The%20general%20rule%20in%20the,if%20you%20lose%20the%20claim.

I hope there's an appeal and even more money get thrown down the drain.

Runs hands together with glee

Oh btw @Hearach15 um, you’re wrong. HTH hun!

Are you staying Allison Bailey won her case against Stonewall?

"Stonewall had a much better lawyer".
👋 at our old friend.
When I'm looking for a barrister, I'll choose a team who can work paper, and knows how to mute their mic before insulting the Respondent.
And who writes textbooks that state the actual law and not stuff they made up.

Ben's performance was a masterclass in skill. He showed humanity and kindness to witnesses who in many respects didn't deserve it. All while GCC and Stonewall's barristers tried to goad and inflame Allison on the stand. He absolutely deserves all praise and respect, whatever your opinion of the case.

And shout out for his support wren- the posters here were a funny, incisive bunch of fuckers. TRAs round here are as po-faced as they are delusional.

"Ben's performance was a masterclass in skill" - but not a masterclass in winning. That accolade goes to Stonewall's barrister.

Hearach15 · 07/08/2022 21:48

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/08/2022 19:30

It would be a much bigger endorsement of his skills as a lawyer if he had actually won the case against Stonewall.

Stonewall weren't Allison's employer, it was always going to be hard to win against them directly. Read the threads here at the time. We knew this, we felt that if she didn't win that part we just wanted them to be held up to scrutiny which they were, magnificently. And that's why BC is such an impressive lawyer.

Allison Bailey: "I have a good arguable case with more than reasonable prospects of success."

Guess you guys were all smarter than she was.

At it is her most important claim against Garden Courts (loss of income) was thrown out. Had she won that she would have been entitled to substantial compensation whereas she spent 500k to win 22k - and she could well have to pay Stonewall's costs as well.

Pyjamagame · 07/08/2022 18:12

Funny how so many publications published articles in favour of Allison after the judgement that Stonewall 'won'. Are they ALL perhaps wrong in this assessment? Was the court case a resounding success story for Stonewall?

Tell me you're not a lawyer, without telling me you're not a lawyer.

Why the need for quotation marks? Stonewall won against Allison Bailey, it's fact. They won, she lost.

Hearach15 · 07/08/2022 21:39

Helleofabore · 07/08/2022 11:03

Give up the twisting hearache.

Well, I'm happy Stonewall won and you seem pretty content that AB lost to Stonewall, so I guess we're both happy. Unity at last!
