I see a certain so-called 'campaiging lawyer' has managed to get Nick Cohen suspended because of his gender critical views.

@Ereshkigalangcleg I’m not being holier than thou, I was simply pointing out the hypocrisy and bullying as well as the blatant transphobia in this thread too. You believe me to be holier than thou because you don’t like to be criticised for your actions, referring to other posters as ploppers, using sexist language like flouncing (which blows my mind as it clearly feeds into the rhetoric you are meant to be fighting against), laughing when I said the thread would be deleted, referring to me as a five-year old - I find it supremely interesting that a group of women who are meant to support women are then being horrific to a woman who was simply asking you not to bully other people - in fact, considering your entire rhetoric is apparently centred around women it makes even less sense, as does this post which I’m sure you can agree completely decentres your argument as it very obviously has an agenda. As previously mentioned you are to your GC views, it doesn’t mean that you will continuously get away with inappropriate behaviour and it won’t be called out. If my post was inappropriate for this thread because it mentioned the other thread or was deemed to personal, then I’ll will also the deletion on the chin, but you should do the same.

Chat shit, get banged.

Erm this is FWR... I always expect to have my arse handed to me on a plate if I talk shit...

You are in the wrong place if you expect your feelings to be spared because you talked shit which sounds nice. Or you want the women on here to do what you said because you asked them to.

And I'm keeping plopping and flounce!

Stop hiding behind words like bullying, inappropriate behaviour and blatant transphobia. Reminds me of those maths demos which had obvious steps which took 3 more blackboards to prove once the teacher was challenged... if something is bugging you spit it out explicitly.

Yes, and you've also been called out for your poor behaviour. I'm not going to indulge it further.

I’ve seen many posts be deleted from posters I recognise and they seem to still be posting.

Not so easy to be holier than thou when your posts also keep getting deleted though, is it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/08/2022 23:21

isn't it depressing that if you merely ask for evidence of predation, a lot of the time you're just going to get it

It really is.

I happen to have been there on twitter when JM put the original call out. The request was clearly retaliatory in spirit and motivated by other disagreements, and came across as purely speculative.

However, in a deeply misogynistic world, where sexual harassment has been normalised for centuries (just look at Samuel Pepys' diary), it never surprises me if a request for evidence against a man finds witnesses. I am pleased to hear of men being investigated for sexual harassment.

But I won't pretend to myself that JM would have made that tweet if NC agreed with him on gender identity theory. No gaslighting me, thanks. I saw the tweets.

Thanks for confirming that PurgatoryOfPotholes.

And, although I agree, isn't it depressing that if you merely ask for evidence of predation, a lot of the time you're just going to get it.

itsabouttimetoo · 03/08/2022 21:51

*post be deleted on the FSG thread for transphobia. When they were deleted, GC posters were up in arms saying they were being muted etc.

itsabouttimetoo · 03/08/2022 21:49

I highly doubt I will get banned from Mumsnet for calling out transphobia when I see it. I’ve seen many posts be deleted from posters I recognise and they seem to still be posting. Two whole threads have also been deleted as they were blatantly transphobic or another described as “churlish”.

@AlisonDonut i’m transphobic because I called you out on your transphobia 😂😂 don’t make me laugh. My posts were deleted probably because they were considered a personal attack. So glad Twitter have their head screwed on!

Don't people get suspended or banned when they've racked up a lot of deletions?

Scanning all the threads it is the same names I see popping up

Yes, I for instance was on it before you joined it, so no sinister plot.

@Datun considering this thread has also stated that TRAs are lying to cancel Nick Cohen, called me transphobic for calling out transphobia amongst other bullying on other threads, I’m going to take it with a pinch of salt that transphobic comments are posted by people who supports trans rights. Scanning all the threads it is the same names I see popping up and you all clearlyyy have a lot of time on your hands. Have an enjoyable evening

Greenleevses · 03/08/2022 20:03

So glad Twitter have their head screwed on!

LOL

Datun · 03/08/2022 19:12

And yes, transphobic comments are often posted by TRAs, in order to get a thread pulled. Tedious, juvenile nonsense.

Personal attack, slurring women, lying about the reasons for a thread deletion, take your pick.

Not in the slightest bit surprised that you're proud to be able to get away with it elsewhere.

Well, if it leads anyone here, they will see that almost all itsabouttimetoo's posts have been deleted.

can't say I'm surprised.

More often than not, the transphobia on here is actually posted by people who claim to be 'trans supporters'. Just for the screenshots.

It usually doesn't take long for their mask to slip. Thankfully MNHQ are on the ball with these terrible transphobic posts and get them deleted pronto.

Secondhand · 03/08/2022 16:27

For the avoidance of doubt:
So far the consensus is that’s it’s a GOOD thing that where women have come forward to report sexual violence from Cohen this is investigated.

👏

To add, unlike The Telegraph we're not throwing women under the bus as an opportunity to stick it to the trans.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/08/2022 16:21

Given Maugham’s previous displays of misogyny there is a sneaking suspicion that his motivation for wanting Cohen investigated is because he doesn’t like Cohen’s views on transgenderism

The suspicion is borne out, rightly or wrongly, by the original article in the Telegraph, in which Maugham is described as being angry about Cohen's trans posts and putting out a call for women to talk to him about Cohen. As I said before, if there were existing rumours about Cohen it's highly plausible that is what he was working on the basis of.

NoHateOnlyDebate · 03/08/2022 16:18

Datun · 03/08/2022 16:14

Strewth. It's like whack a mole today.

This is where misogyny gets you. Claiming that this is Mumsnet defending predators.

Not to deny or diminish the accusations against him, but knowing what working life was like for young women in 2001, I doubt he was the only one doing it. But it's a very good thing if the whole male culture of these workplaces gets exposed and anyone responsible faces consequences.

Take it up with HighTides, as that was the person I was responding to, they took the post by Ereshkigalangcleg out of context.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/08/2022 16:17

With respect, I wasn't quoting you, I was quoting someone who used part of your post to claim that the alligations were a witch hunt against Cohen.

Ok, no worries.
