Think Twice Before Donating to LLLI this Year
It's not the same place many of us learned to love for over 6 decades.

OP posts:

www.laleche.org.uk/support-transgender-non-binary-parents/

They advocate for men taking drugs to stimulate production of liquid in their nipples to 'feed' their babies.

They should be nowhere near breastfeeding women.

Ach, the screenshots have gone all weird, sorry. If you are able to click through, those are all recent posts made in July, and all use 'breastfeeding' or 'mother'.

It could well be that there are groups trying to change the language within LLLI, but I'm heartened to see the main FB account using straightforward language.

This is the LLLI facebook page - many instances of 'breastfeeding' and 'mother'.

I'll try and attach some screenshots.

Have read the article. Unfortunately there is no way to check any of the issues raised. I had a look at LLLI Facebook, and they use the words mother and breastfeeding frequently.

Can you screenshot that because I cant see it. There is a trans inclusive LLL group which says explicitly not to use mum or women. And the non trans one doesn't appear to use those words either. (Although the groups are private, so I've only seen the notes on the initial page which is public).

Maybe the online meetings are the problem. Were the voyeurs/masturbators there with the approval of the LLL group, I wonder.

I had a quick look on the website and they do still use 'mother' and 'woman'. I don't know if it is less frequent than before, but the use is still there. The 'Womanly Art of Breastfeeding' still has the same title.

Such a shame that this previously well respected organisation is self immolating.
I think local peer supporters is probably the way to go. I met one of our local volunteers recently, they are embedded in the hospital and follow up at home with support in various forms. I asked about online support and she said they are very careful to screen members so that only breastfeeding women can access the sessions. She was clearly aware of known problems.

At what point will they realise what they've done? What will it actually take?

This is chilling from the article posted - and horrifyingly too familiar once again…

In line with many other captured organizations, LLL now expects its Leaders to advertise services without referring to “women”, “mothers” or “breastfeeding” at all. And we thought that the 1950s was a regressive era for women’s empowerment!

The Board appears to have put Leaders into potentially abusive situations with their Inclusivity Policy which states that "everyone" should be included in breastfeeding support.

Recently, a Leader reached out for support on an internet forum. Her online meeting had been hijacked by “a bunch of guys” who insulted the women present and then one of them started masturbating live on camera during the meeting.

Clearly, the implications of helping "everyone" to breastfeed—including men—has not been properly studied by the LLLI Board. In fact it has been ignored. The men who hijacked the meeting belonged to an international toddler breastfeeding fetish group. The fact that LLLI Board is silent on this safeguarding issue makes one wonder if they are prioritizing pedophile fetishes over women and children's safety.
