There are three linked issues here.

First the freedom of speech issue - who decides what is offensive and who can say or write offensive things.

Secondly the use of non crime incidents. Anything - anything at all - can be classed as this. The criteria is whether someone finds it offensive. Some here may find rearranged rainbow flags offensive; some find the flag on its own offensive.

Lastly, the police threatening someone with arrest without reading his rights. That's very serious. That threatens all of us and the rule of law.

jewishmum -- no feminist thinks the Nazi swastika is funny or defends it. Comparing movements to Nazism is always condemnatory, not celebratory.

Revealing a swastika in the trans flag is clever because it silently comments on the authoritarian and intimidatory nature of the gender identity movement.

Exactly!

sk8trade · 30/07/2022 08:34

I don't understand why some posters are attacking them, I'm very grateful for the work that Laurence and Harry do ensuring the safety of women and children.

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 30/07/2022 08:02

“so you literally have a pride flag. And it says Hampshire police on it. And you're arresting me basically for something to do with the flag. Can you not see the problem with that?” “Well, no, you're just homophobic.” I told them this had nothing to do with homophobia. I said “I do not recognize your authority as a police officer."

You are the military wing of Stonewall

LaughingPriest "I think as a general rule of thumb, if you have a message you want to be taken seriously, whatever it is, leave swastikas out of it."

yes. Whoever came up with that hasn't done any favours to those of us who are concerned about LGBTQI+.

You Emma maybe concerned with the LGBTQ+ but I believe it safe to say most GC are concerned with the TQ+

And I also think because visually it looks a bit silly, what with the happy looking coloured stripes.

So there is a political commentary but also a sort of artistic tension with the design, and the whole juxtaposition is unexpected but kind of obvious once you see it.

It's similar with the flags all done up like a Nazi parade. It's bizarre because the format is like something out of a WWII film reel but with all these rainbow colours.

DarkDayforMN · 30/07/2022 01:46

The veteran, who has requested anonymity, contacted Miller and Fox and told them that officers had advised him to “check with his neighbours before he posts anything”.

What a bizarre thing to say. I wonder if his neighbors reported him. The neighbors got another mention at the end of the article.

It takes a considerable element of persistence to attempt to derail, slur and rehash the myth about Helen Joyce with a post only a few posts after the last cycle of myth-debunk posts had finished.

Helleofabore · 30/07/2022 00:30

antelopevalley · 29/07/2022 23:45

According to Joyce, ‘a few wealthy people’ (p 227), apparently ‘rich, white American males’ (p 228) have ‘shaped the global (trans) agenda’ (p 227). She then goes on to name three rich Jewish people.

So, are you saying that she should not have mentioned their names? That her not disclosing that some or all of those males were Jewish was irelevant and she simply should not have mentioned their names.

Meaning that she would then be discredited for not being accurate.

Was there any other way that she could mention those three males names and the fact that they were males and American that would have been acceptable? If there was, could you please suggest how she could have written it?

TheBiologyStupid · 30/07/2022 00:21

Glinner has released an update, reporting his chat with Harry: grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/what-happened-to-harry-last-night

Bless, counting isn’t your strong point is it? My 18mo could teach you, she surprised me by counting to six the other day.

When Genevieve Gluck was discussing her investigations with Glinner, she had some interesting speculations as to why there is a concerted effort to disdain and attack the viewpoint of lesbians and feminists. Gluck argues that previous attempts (1970s to 1990s) to normalise various paraphilia and to remove the age of consent by forced teaming these campaigns with gay rights etc. were successfully halted by actions from women, feminists, and particularly lesbians who spoke up about their concerns, especially around safeguarding.

There seems to be a recrudescence of concerted action to normalise these ambitions again. Gluck comments on the strategy of the pre-emptive attack on feminists and lesbian by ostracising them and "slandering them as TERFs from the start:" I should think that Feminazis and similar slurs would be part of that strategy.

It's certainly been very successful in scaring a fair number of people away from even looking into what is happening.

wrt to the Denton playbook (see below), lobbying groups have been very careful to work in the shadows which allowed them to succeed with the #NoDebate strategy for a long time. Denton also gifted these groups the time to capture enough organisations and governmental bodies to give an authoritarian weight to the deprecation of concerns and the continuing refusal to engage in discussion.

This has been debunked. WomenAreHuman covered this smear campaign. Here's a tweet the article quotes that sums up the issue

"Thinking about the accusations of antisemitism against Helen Joyce. She mentions two Jewish billionaires. She doesn't accuse them of shadowy machinations or obvious tropes. Doesn't mention their ethnicity.

If that's antisemitic, is it at all possible to criticise George Soros?"

I loved the Helen Joyce book so much until the part where she started ranting that Jewish billionaires are behind the trans agenda.

Which part of the book was this, please?

I think there's a car, called 'old no.1' and actual vehicle, not a thought experiment that's believed to have undergone this process. Very little, if anything of the original car left. Aren't there some rock bands that have done the same thing?

Lots of ships are like that too. There is a famous ship near where I live, almost none of it is actually the same ship any more.

It's similar with our housing regs. In some places you can't do new build, but you can renovate an old place. The rule is you need to retain one corner post for it to still be "the same" house.

'In pop music, all three founding members of girl-group Sugababes were replaced one-by-one during the first decade of the 21st century, raising the question: was the result still the Sugababes?'

Indeed, surely 'Round Round' is a nod to Nietzsche's theory of eternal return?

Trigger’s Broom is a version of the thought experiment the Ship of Theseus.

Re Ship of Theseus - I know it as 'my grandfather's axe'

I've still got grandfather's spade.
Father replaced the handle and
I replaced the blade.

I wonder how many variations there are and if they differ by region.
