Thank fuck. I only hope this is the beginning of the end for Mermaids too.

achillestoes · 28/07/2022 12:39

This is a start. There isn’t the evidence to say puberty blockers are an appropriate treatment for gender dysphoria, so whether they’re doling them out here or at a number of other clinics, the underlying assumptions (that there are some children who ‘are trans’) need serious attention.

IamAporcupine · 28/07/2022 12:39

This is amazing!

thank you everyone who made this happened

BreadInCaptivity · 28/07/2022 12:38

OMG - what a week!!!

EdgeOfACoin · 28/07/2022 12:38

Wow - repercussions of this will be huge.

PronounssheRa · 28/07/2022 12:38

The Cass findings must be absolutely damning for it to shut completely.

I fear the NHS will lose a lot of money in future legal claims because of the Tavistock

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/07/2022 12:38

Wow. That is massive.

BenCooperSuperTrouper · 28/07/2022 12:38

Brilliant. Children’s lives will be saved by closing this experimental factory of horror.

It’s important to say I don’t celebrate a clinic closing because I don’t want the service to be available, but because I want a great and safe service to be available: the Tavistock was not providing this. I really want good services available for children and hope they come soon.

well done Dr Cass!

So true

ComDummings · 28/07/2022 12:37

Amazing news. Hopefully ‘doctors’ will stop butchering children now

Motnight · 28/07/2022 12:36

Thanks for the link, Op. This can only be good news for children.

Get in!

GrabbyGabby · 28/07/2022 12:33

That is epic. Well done hilary cass. There will still be a huge mountain to climb tk ensure that the new treatment centes are not captured and are truly holistic.

She has just saved alot of lives and heartache.

Women are fuxking amazing!!!

And clinical trials to follow up children on puberty blockers into adulthood.

Thank you Keira

This is great news. It will be crucial that the NHS follows through with providing the mental health support that's needed by kids and teenagers.

GettingMarriedAgain · 28/07/2022 12:30

Oh that’s actually made me cry. Proper holistic care, mental health support and rigorous data collection

As it always should have been.

Just seen. Wow what a week. The report sounds like it will be really damning.

Crucially, it also looks like the replacement services will have stronger mental health support.

PronounssheRa · 28/07/2022 12:28

Wow

Off to read the article but I really hope this means the start of proper care for young people with gender dysphoria
