So mentioning females with reference to menopause is terfy..

Part of my job to review the menopause policy at work. Person drafting it had written people as the main word throughout. I suggested changing to females and was told this was 'terfy'

Luckily as this person works for me I referenced maya forstater ruling and an example of how this could be seen as inappropriate language for the workplace. But mentioning a biological function that only females experience is now seen as 'terfy' ? Wtf???

After discussion with my boss they relented to ' colleague' with women and transmen/ non binary in the preamble but seems female is off limits now..

So what do we call people who we used to call women then used to call female?

as biologically female as is medically possible
Which is still male, because mammals can't change sex. Sorry, but it can't be done.
Afaik transwomen continue (or start!) taking cross-sex hormones rather than stopping or reducing them at the age when women will experience the menopause. Oddly enough they generally seem to want to remain 'gals' rather than experiencing normal middle-aged womanhood.

"had medical interventions to render them biologically female" 😂comedy gold

Glad to hear you can actually change sex. When I had a really difficult pregnancy with my daughter and had to risk permanent disability (which I knew was a possibility) silly me I should have just changed sex with my hubby fir 9 month's and let him carry the child rather than get seriously ill at 35w due to pre a existing health condition.

As it was I had to take the risk myself. If only someone had told me there was this other option!

“Sticking to the facts, they will either have had medical interventions to render them biologically female...or as biologically female as is medically possible.....in which case they (oh lucky them) will experience menopause”

Exactly what medical intervention would lead to a male person going through the female menopause?!

I’m dying to find out how this has been achieved and want to know why the scientists / HCPs who achieved it haven’t been Nobel nominated.

Your workplace menopause policy sounds like it was written by my trust HR dept.... Here's the preamble on our intranet page about it:

"The menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as oestrogen levels decline. In the UK, the average age to reach the menopause is 51.

Most people will experience menopausal symptoms. Some of these can be quite severe and have a significant impact on your everyday activities."

The source for this is quoted as the British menopause society yet on their website they don't seem to have an issue writing that women go through the menopause- so it's been changed by my trust. The policy fares on better and barely mentions the W word.

We're NHS- if a sodding healthcare trust cannot know that menopause affects women (rather than "most people"- REALLY?!) then how can we offer care? This shite absolutely boils my piss.

@godmum56
Sticking to the facts, as you say ... Whatever medical or surgical interventions they undergo, TW will never experience a period and therefore never experience menopause.

and therefore the policy won't apply to them so what is the problem?

PickAChew · 22/07/2022 23:51

"they will either have had medical interventions to render them biologically female...or as biologically female as is medically possible"

So men can have the the chromosomes in all of their cells changed?

Trans men are females, so female the exact opposite of 'terfy', its completely trans inclusive.

well that's what I was trying to say....

I only work for myself so I can't contribute anything like this, but I hope you women challenging this inside companies and institutions understand that you are saving the world for women. It is appreciated.

BellaAmorosa · 22/07/2022 23:33

@Mumortwo
"Male menopause" is not the cessation of periods and men cannot be made biologically female

Mumortwo · 22/07/2022 23:29

NHS online has a whole section on "the male menopause". Men get it, apparently. It's ok to say men and male.

well that's ok surely? Sticking to the facts, they will either have had medical interventions to render them biologically female...or as biologically female as is medically possible.....in which case they (oh lucky them) will experience menopause; or they haven't undergone such intervention so they won't experience menopause and therefore the policy won't apply to them.....like maternity policies didn't apply to me, even though I am cis female, as I never became pregnant.

I really don't know if this is sarcasm or if you actually think some 'medical interventions' can actually make a man female. 🤔

You should use the NICE approach, use "women" throughout, with an asterisk explaining that in the document the word is used to cover all females including those that identify other than as women (or something like that)

@PaleBlueMoonlight
I think this is the best approach. It's correct and up to date with GI. We can't let go of truth and science because it will not end there.

Female has been transified so Transwomen can say their female now . Cos they said so.

I really think the younger generation have to learn to live with their mothers at some point and grow up. They are lovely really, all these youngsters, they've just swallowed the whole thing without any questions.

As many women said before, we've been told to educate ourselves, so we did. They can't just make us believe it, we know far too much now, and most of us have searched in vain for a good reason for this madness for years. If there is a good argument for trans ideology over women's rights, it eludes me.

Gentle probing seems to be getting somewhere with my teenagers at last, maybe the vibe is changing after all?

LK1972 · 22/07/2022 22:58

Blimey, @Metabigot , good on you, and quite right, they only seem to ever 'remember' ever few factual stories, it's just slogans

I'm not brave enough, just yet, but am getter quite tired of the whole thing.

Just when you feel the tide is turning, then realise just how brainwashed some people have become

I know. I can’t even say that in real life.

How sad is that?

I've found piggy backing on something in the news in a neutral what do you think about this way can be a good way to test the water.

A lot of people are waiting for someone else to say thr emporer has no clothes...

You want to try writing the maternity policy! Nightmare.

How many transmen actually have a baby? 0.0003% ? Most are same sex attracted so would have a female partner to carry a baby I'd think?

Yet the language must change...

Gosh, wouldn't that be a simpler approach? But no, the language has to be mangled so that we can't even use female Hmm

I've managed to get wokeychops to see that it's not all about the trans. Did the usual bingo of nazi comparisons/ trans suicide/ be kind/ oppression Olympics etc. She ran out of juice when I mentioned the JK R pipe bomb / doxxing tweet. Said she'd remember to think of other views

Gosh this will be fun to manage her!

I actually like her apart from the woke shite
