Did anyone post about this yet?

Maybe now those cutesy story times will be ended too. THIS is what women have been shouting about. The mindset of many grad queens, the other shit in their working lives, SM streams etc. THIS!

Then why is almost everyone ignoring the "joke"? Why are posters determined to derail the thread into being anti-drag in general?

Nobody is ignoring the joke what has happened is posters are now talking about why children were exposed to the joke, why did the act think the joke was appropriate, is it because drag is now being marketed towards children, why is it being marketed towards children and such like. The thread is just evolving as discussions do.

What has that got to do with pro-paedophilia jokes? It's the paedophilia that's important here, not drag.

People are capable of being upset by 2 things at once believe it or not!

Of course the sexual "joke" made about children is an issue does that really need to be clarified? People can also be upset by the existence of drag queen's at the same time.

Then why is almost everyone ignoring the "joke"? Why are posters determined to derail the thread into being anti-drag in general? Big rants about the existence of drag, yet I am the only person on this thread willing to come out and explicitly say "That comment is pro-paedophilia and is dangerous." Most posters are ignoring the 'joke' completely!

This thread certainly gives the impression that it's existence of drag queens that posters object to, and they don't really give a shit about the comment.

I've been on Feminist Chat for a very long time and am deeply suspicious. Far too much material here for those wanting screencaps for Twitter, and those wanting to discredit us as bigots who are pretending to care about children.

BoopTheFoof · 20/07/2022 14:41

Good I'm glad its been banned. It'll be so much the other way soon you wnte able to see run of the mill stuff any more as they are catering to the minority.
Save it for panto

Ok re the ohoto I can see where it’s taken now.

Still doesn’t distract from the fact this Drag “artist” made a joke about child abuse and should never be anywhere near a child.

Runoutofusernames · 20/07/2022 14:40

Any individual making "jokes" of this nature and content, should (regardless of venue or time of day) face serious jail time, wtaf fk goes on in the mind of someone to think this is funny!
I really dispair for our children!
When is society going to actually stand up and say enough is enough!

I think I'm glad I can't see twitter.

It's time people realise that drag is not suitable for kids. You only have to look at his picture to know the content.

Believe me be glad you can't see it!! There's no enough brain bleach in the world to rid that vision out of my head

Lingoflaming · 20/07/2022 14:35

The NT website did state that there would be family friendly activities in the billing.

Of course some people are upset at the existence of drag Queens. They are a parody of women. Overly sexualised usually with stage names that are offensive to women.
Why do you find it shocking that it upsets some people?

Hoardasurass to answer your question the photo was taken later but still in daylight. The photo looks dark because it's angled towards one of the concrete overhangs and the overhang is creating a lot of shade and blocking out direct sunlight (I eat lunch there every day and that corner is always dark and shady), but if you look at the top right corner you can see that it's sunny.

nauticant · 20/07/2022 14:29

How can those two pictures be exactly the same stage? One has a concrete roof beside it, the other doesn’t.

It's not a roof, it's the side of the South Bank Centre. The event is taking place in an open space next to the SBC.

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 14:29

For the millionth time YES the comment is the issue.

However, on the other thread we were being told it wasn't an issue, it was part of Drag culture, that's not what the performer meant, we don't understand, we are ridiculous, we are frothing, we are right wing.

You are arguing about not conflating Drag and paedophilia, I am NOT doing that. Upset about the existence of Drag Queens? What are you on? I vehemently disagree that Drag should be promoted to children, there should be NO DQSH, Drag is adult entertainment. Protecting children is keeping them away from forms of adult entertainment not having it promoted to them under the cover of diversity.

Has anyone else actually been there?

They are the same stage.

The pale concrete building is the National Theatre, and is directly next to the stage. If you're standing on the stage, then the NT is diagonally in front of you to the left. It's not a roof, just the slanting walls. I can't find exactly the same angle but if you look at the NT, you can see that it has these big concrete 'levels' that stick out and sort of overhang.

So the photo taken from the stage, the camera is pointing left so you can see the walls and one of the 'overhangs' of the NT. The other photo is taken from on top of one of the 'overhangs' so doesn't show the NT building.

@DaniRabbity could you please clarify what time your photo was taken because it appears to have been taken much later than 6-7pm that this person was on stage and tbh if I had been there with children after that disgusting pro pedophilia "joke " I would have left immediately and by the time it was as dark as your photo most families would have left anyway

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 14:21

So the people who were outside the immediate area of the stage, not in the audience and no intention of being in the audience who had children with them and saw many other people with children milling about and said they could hear what was being said on the stage and could see the stage are lying then, just to clarify.

The show was on at 6.30. Hardly 'in the evening's was it? Let's get the facts straight, eh.

Well yes. 6.30 pm is definitely in the evening.

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 14:13

Please don't conflate paedophilia with drag, it's dangerous, and is exactly the kind of thing that can and is used to discredit us and make out that we're bigots who are pretending to care about safeguarding.

FFS I am NOT conflating Drag with paedophilia - read my words, I said it is a sexist and misogynistic form of adult entertainment and should not be promoted to or anywhere near children. No form of adult entertainment should.

I don't give a shit about an evening drag show aimed at adults. That's not the issue. Pro-paedophilia comments are the issue.

This is exactly the kind of thing that discredits us and does active damage to our cause (of protecting children).

I honestly find it terrifying that people are more upset by the existence of drag queens, than by pro-paedophilia.

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 14:14

Yes they are the same stage, just from different angles and different times of the day.

If there were "loads of children" present there would be photos showing this. (Bear in mind the person who claimed there were "loads of children" present was not there with their own children, and later admitted to having been wrong, and that it was not an event aimed at children.)

I personally don't believe that loads of parents would take their children to an evening drag show advertised as being hosted by someone named "Sue Gives A Fuck."

Are those 2 pictures you posted the same stage? Dani?

I dont want to be rude but you are calling people who were there with their children and heard the comment liars but we apparently must believe you? Why should you be believed and not them?

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 13:57

Hear the music? Yes of course.

Hear individual comments spoken on stage? As someone who was actually there, no I don't believe that. Even when I was inside the audience area, I had a hard time making out the dialogue.

See the performers on the tiny stage with a thick crowd jumping up and down right in front of it? No.

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 13:52

I 100% agree with you @DaniRabbity regarding the comment, it was abhorrent. I diverge on Drag, to me it is sexist and deeply misogynistic it is adult entertainment, though a form of entertainment I despise, and should not be anywhere near children, should not be promoted to children as in DQSH in libraries.

Where we diverge is your insistence that no-one, unless in the audience area, could see or hear what was going on on the stage. As Clymene said that is one hell of a remarkable sound system that only those in the immediate vicinity of the stage can hear as sound carries the NT should patent that they'd make a fortune.

People who were not in the audience are have said they could see and hear, are they lying?

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 13:39

I was standing right outside the barrier and couldn't see or hear a thing because the crowd was so thick. Even inside, it was hard to see the stage through the crowd.

Please compare the image the Daily Mail posted which was taken during the daytime, with the image of the same stage taken later that evening.

The barriers go up in the evening and there are ushers controlling who gets inside the audience area. The photo shows the audience area. You can't see or hear if you're outside the audience area, unless you're directly outside.

I am the only poster on this entire thread who's said "this is pro-pedophilia and dangerous" and I'm being targeted for attack. Only two other comments have even mentioned sexualising of children.

The issue has nothing to do with drag queens, but with dangerous jokes that normalise pedophilia.

I am very, very concerned by the number of posters trying to derail both these threads.

I wonder if people are trying to generate screencaps for Twitter "oh look they don't give a shit about protecting kids they just hate drag queens."
