Did anyone post about this yet?

Maybe now those cutesy story times will be ended too. THIS is what women have been shouting about. The mindset of many grad queens, the other shit in their working lives, SM streams etc. THIS!

I really don't think any mum with any common sense would look at that schedule and think "well Sue Gives a Fuck doesn't take over until 7pm so clearly everything up till 7pm is child-friendly."

Why wouldn't they?
There is no adult only content warning.
Drag shows are being promoted in schools and libraries to children. Why is it wrong for the parent to think Sue Gives A Fuck is on at 7pm which is clearly not child friendly but it doesn't say anything about the show before that not being child friendly.

Why are you defending parents exposing their children to things that are clearly not appropriate for children?

Are parents really so stupid and incapable of making their own decisions how best to safeguard their children that they need "ADULTS ONLY" stamped on things that are obviously not suitable for children?

I've said twice that the NT massively fucked up by not making clear that this was an adults-only event (everyone seems determined to overlook that in their desperation to gaslight me and paint me as saying things I've not said) but I've also said numerous times that adults need to take personal responsibility in safeguarding their children.

CrossStichQueen · 20/07/2022 16:20

As a sexually abused and exploited child I will NEVER be silenced for speaking out against paedophilia, no matter how much you attack me.

Nobody is attacking you or trying to silence you!!

People are rightly asking why you should be believed as a random on the Internet and other random on the Internet shouldn't be believed. That's not attacking you.

You however are attacking other posters. You are demanding the thread content focus on one part only while others are discussing the whole content of the event.

WhenWillMyLIfeBegin · 20/07/2022 16:18

And I can guarantee that no posters would take their child to that show based on the name.
But these posters wouldn't take their kids to drag queen story time, the family sex show or library butt monkey fun either.

It doesn't stop us understanding that the normalisation of drag+children means that children being present is a possibility.

And again, even if they weren't, children should not have been the subject of that joke. As many, many, many posters have said.

I am the ONLY poster on this thread to explicitly say "this is pro paedophilia."

You most certainly are not. You are just the only poster ignoring the context and engaging in whattaboutery.

So if sharon legrand was on before 7 DaniRabbity how is you posting a picture of the stage after its gone dark (so post 9pm) proof there were no children there during sharon legrands 6pm set?

This is some gaslighting shit. Seriously

The photo I posted is in broad daylight!

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 16:13

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 16:02

What part of "hosted by Sue Gives A Fuck" makes you think it's suitable for children?

That wasn't the performer who made the comment, it was Sharon Le Grand performing between 6 & 7, or are you going to say it wasn't @DaniRabbity ?

AFAIK the comment was made during the hand-over between Sharon Le Grand and Sue Gives a Fuck so right before or just about on 7pm.

Sharon Le Grand's performance was mostly music with a bit of talking right at the beginning and the end (the OP of the other thread says she didn't get there till 6.30 so clearly the comment can't have been made in the first half of the show).

I really don't think any mum with any common sense would look at that schedule and think "well Sue Gives a Fuck doesn't take over until 7pm so clearly everything up till 7pm is child-friendly."

It's just more of the usual, isn't it?

It was abhorrent but I'll defend it anyway!

I don't actually care if there were no kids and this happened in a dark space at 2 in the morning.

Making such jokes, normalising such crap, is vile. Many drag acts choose to spout this kind of crap - yes, I do know! That's on them. If they/you don't want that to be what the public, mums, women, NT etc, think of you then clean up your own mess.

Because the acts that depend on sick jokes, debasing women and kids are your problem. Not the women who say fuck off, that isn't acceptable!

No one is defending it, unless you're referring to deleted comments from the other thread.

I've been very very very steadfast and firm in decrying it most strongly. In fact there is not a single poster on this thread that has decried the comment as much as me.

I am the ONLY poster on this thread to explicitly say "this is pro paedophilia."

I have said over and over again how vile and abhorrent it is.

Some of the posters here have done their level best to ignore and downplay the actual comment, in favour of a general discussion about drag, in a way that feels like derailing and preventing discussion about paedophilia.

All I've said is "it's important to be factually accurate to avoid people with an agenda discrediting us".

I find a lot of the posts here worrying because I know how many MRA/TRA types lurk here and how easily they could screencap certain posts to create a narrative "oh these evil MNers pretend to care about child sexual exploitation but actually they're just bigots who hate drag, look they're not even mentioning the comment!"

If you're really determined to perceive "this comment is vile pro-paedophilia and it's important to keep the focus on that" as "defending it" well I have no words!

You're looking at the events page for this coming weekend.

It said 15th to 22nd so assumed it was the right one. I didn't realise there was another stage as such.

As I said earlier children present or not the comment was vile and why make a statement about children towards an adult only audience? The comment made is what makes me believe children were present as it seems aimed at children. That's just my view though.

Sorry didn't scroll sideways enough to see the last act.

Why is my events page different?

You're looking at the events page for this coming weekend.

"River Stage Festival" is a festival that lasts for the whole summer, and each weekend has a different theme. The theme for last weekend was Pride/Drag.

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 15:57

Sharon Le Grand is the one who made the comment, performing between 6 & 7, correct?

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 15:55

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 20/07/2022 15:48

As I said. You have set yourself up as the arbiter of the ONLY TRUTH. Nothing anyone else who was present can say will dissuade you, or hasn't so far!

Well, no. Either there were "loads of children" present at an adult drag show, or there were not. That has nothing to do with any concept of "TRUTH" no matter how much you yell.

If there were "loads of children" then it would be easy to find photos showing this.

But all the photos of the event, show no children.

"Nothing anyone else who was present can say will dissuade you, or hasn't so far!"

Except there's only one person on Mumsnet who claims to have attended, and she's not on this thread. So basically a load of people who weren't actually there are trying to convince someone who was actually there that she shouldn't believe her own eyes and ears.

Why do you feel I should ignore what I personally witnessed, in favour of people who were not even there?

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 12:04

The joke is abhorrent but please bear in mind that this was an ADULT-ONLY show performed in the evening.

The Daily Mail are being dishonest and goady in describing it as "a family friendly festival" and in claiming the act performed in front of "young families."

The festival does include other events (on completely different days) that are suitable for families and children, but this particular event was advertised and marketed as being for adults only. I work next door and the ushers certainly would not have let any children inside the audience. I was there and didn't see any children.

The original thread actually turned into a bit of a bunfight with posters pointing out that it was an adult-only show and that any parent trying to sneak children in was being irresponsible.

Last time I looked paedophillic activities is a criminal offence

doesn’t matter that it was sold as adult theme entertainment

since when is encouraging paedophiles acceptable in public performance to anyone

CrossStichQueen · 20/07/2022 15:54

Ok so where on there does it say hosted by Sue Gives A Fick?

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 15:52

CrossStichQueen · 20/07/2022 15:50

I have screen shot all of the events on Saturday from the same page and there is no event listed for drag acts.

This is the events page for Saturday.

VestofAbsurdity · 20/07/2022 15:51

No, because I have not relentlessly attacked you, I questioned whether you were saying the other people who say they heard the comment and saw the act although not in the audience were lying, and I'm not talking about the OP of the other thread.

I have repeatedly said the comment was abhorrent, as stated I (and others) were subjected to various insults for doing so on the other thread, for you to now claim that I am a paedophile apologist is repugnant and shows that you have neither read my posts on this thread or any others on this site. My posting history will show that I am unequivocally anti-paedophilia and hard core on safeguarding children.

You kept saying we had to divorce Drag from the comment - the comment was made during a Drag Act by a Drag performer.

Please post a link from the NT that explicitly states "the stage can be seen and heard by those outside the immediate area."

I'm not sure I agree with DM picking up content from MN but in this case it appears to be a good choice as a good result has come out of it.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I personally find a lot of drag queens quite insulting in various ways.

DaniRabbity · 20/07/2022 15:45

CrossStichQueen · 20/07/2022 15:41

Why are you ignoring my comment:

I am not.

What part of "hosted by Sue Gives A Fuck" makes you think it's suitable for children?

As I said on their own events page it does not state that as my screen shot shows so people attending may not have been aware given that the National theaters own events page does not say it is hosted by Sue Gives A Fuck.

You've screencapped the event page for Friday.

The event in question was on the Saturday.

The event page for Saturday does say "hosted by Sue Gives A Fuck."
