Let’s hope Mordaunts not the next PM

Alicia Kearns has endorsed Mordaunt. That would mean some big job for Kearns - Women and Equalities?

The practical bottom line is that they support the reform of the GRA to bring in self-ID, and they support the trans conversion therapy ban (with all its philosophical ambiguities). Both will stand up and say “TWAW” even though they know that isn’t true.

What else will they do? Which of the concessions women have won from government would be in danger with these people in government?

Yeah, don’t trust that one bit. She’s seen the way public opinion has shifted and all of a sudden has realised she needs to start madly backtracking. Yes, she ordered an inquiry into the rising numbers of GD in adolescent girls, but absolutely NOTHING happened about it, and people who wrote to ask her about it were ignored. It took Keira Bell’s case for NHS England to sit up (and on the back of that, the Govt).

I find it quite disgusting how disingenuous she is being. Expected, but if I were a Tory party member, I wouldn’t be voting for her. The only candidate who has consistently seemed genuine on the issue is Keri Badenoch, IMO. She does seem to actually care whereas the others sound as though they are just saying the right words to appease and would drop the issue as soon as they thought they were able to.

And yes, some transwomen are legally female. That gives them the right to be treated as women for most purposes. They are not women, though, and the problem is the widespread and aggressive campaign to make us all pretend otherwise.

We’ve all seen examples of this faux outrage before. It has echoes of Laurie Penny and Nancy Kelley: “who? Me?”

We know Mordaunt has driven the self-ID agenda. We know, despite the fact that she knows what a woman is (everyone knows what a woman is) that she has been prepared to include transwomen in that category at the despatch box, even when women have explained to her with great care and passion that this hurts us.

Done. She isn’t getting my vote if she wins the leadership contest.

I don’t believe her either. Needs to say TW are not women and don’t support gender self ID to even start to believe her. Too carefully crafted worded

Well that’s a half-arsed reverse ferret.

She has seen which way the wind is blowing and is backtracking. But not a full backtrack. Trans women are not biological women but legal women? What does this mean in practical terms?

And those enquiries ordered on gender services for kids? Did we ever see the results?

Bloody hell funny how this issue is suddenly top of everyone’s agenda. They must’ve had so many letters from constituents. The idea that this doesn’t come up on the doorstep is bullshit. I’m not sure I believe PM unless she is very clear about what she will rule out self-id and the conversion therapy ban and also it’d be nice to know exactly what she intends to do to protect the free speech of women who don’t share her view that TWAW.

The two questions all commentators should ask on this issue. Are trans women women? Do you support self id? I suspect she'd answer yes and yes.

She'd give Stella Creasy a run for her money. She's smart though, I'll give her that. Her language is very carefully chosen.

Its funny how my memory plays tricks with me. I was sure she was an absolute arse to women about this issues here on a webchat a couple of years ago. It turns out she's been leading the whole GC movement all along.

What a Shame!

@Thingybob ·I was listening to Talk Radio yesterday afternoon and a caller said how Penny Morduant was his choice for the next PM. The reasons he gave included "and she knows what a woman is, unlike that Labour lot" Hopefully that video does get circulated far and wide so people like that caller can see what an idiot she is.

That caller could be a plant and his idiotic remark was to obfuscate Mordant's pro-trans position. I wouldn't put anything pass TRAs to get someone who supports them installed as PM. It's very odd the caller said that particular statement, a statement that would directly appeal to anyone who is GC.
