From their fb: "pride heralds a time where we can stop. commemorate lgbtqia+ history and take a moment to reflect in awe at the positive progress made by inspirational thought-leaders + brave changemakers. it’s a time to celebrate what it means to be truly proud of who you are, who you love + everything that makes you unique. proud beyond pride is about giving our platforms over to lgbtqia+ voices who live loudly, champion inclusivity + are a force for positive change

this pride season, we’re proud to be partnering with celebrated illustrator josh mckenna. we commissioned josh to express what pride means to him, through his characteristically tongue-in-cheek, bold, diverse and all-inclusive (as it should be in 2022) style

we’re also excited to be partnering with the inspirational charity mermaids. mermaids has been supporting transgender, non binary and gender diverse young people and their families since 1995. nationwide, we will be donating 25p of every power juice sold to mermaids. we’re also donating 20% of profits of our bespoke menu in wagamama old street, wagamama manchester st peters and wagamama pourtsmouth

these funds will go towards their role in empowering thousands of transgender, nonbinary and gender diverse people and supporting their mission to educate and inform wider society on gender identity"

Oh fuck off and take your power juice with you 😡

You must have mistaken this with another board, there's no feminists in here.

😂

Artichokeleaves · 07/07/2022 13:59

Have you checked that they identify as feminists and you're not coercively assigning feminist? Cos literal violence. Sad face.

Fgs take a look on AIBU. FWR is beyond naice compared to how women actually talk to each other when the gloves are off and male-centric politics with the requirements of stereotypic good-girling aren't involved.

Mn is nice and kind until you disagree with feminists.

Who says women have to be nice and kind? noone says that to the chaps.

Usually capitalists retailers of girl's t-shirts.

And apparently some perve who decided it would be an cute logo for little girl's underwear.

MN has never been nice and kind - where have you been hanging out!😂

The feminists are fierce though and rightly so!

Needmoresleep · 07/07/2022 08:59

Why do women need to be "nice and kind".

Who says? Men?

You have to be new to the site. Have you never read AIBU?

Conflictedunicorn · 07/07/2022 05:58

yes there is. You could boycott mumsnet? That might work. If enough people who don’t like their policy of letting women speak freely boycott it, maybe mumsnet will become a nicer, kinder place for women?

Did I just roll my eyes out loud!

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 15:31

Cool.

I'm against the way people write about trans peole on MN - is there somewhwere I can boycott for that?

Besides, that's not actually what I said.

I think the owner of spoons is a wanker, but Im not arrogant enough to believe he will care if I don't drink in his pubs.

Why should I?

It's not MN's fault there's transphobes on here.

Try Mayo.

Chillisquid · 06/07/2022 20:09

I used to work for Wagamama and can confirm they employed a non binary male as a diversity and inclusion lead about a year ago, which as far as I remember was a new role within the business.
A couple of months ago we were asked if we wanted rainbow lanyards and pronoun badges, only a couple of people in my site opted in from what I could tell and I left before they actually turned up.
I was glad then to be leaving and even more glad now I've seen this on Facebook today.
It's a shame really because they are generally a good company to work for as jobs in hospitality go, they support mental health charities and some of the pride stuff is good and more than just changing a flag on socials, although they did give money to gendered intelligence a few years ago.
Why don't these companies do the most basic background checks or due diligence?

onlywhenidream · 06/07/2022 17:52

What do you mean clearly not?

There are rules somewhere you can read

Clearly they disagree with you as to what constitutes transphobia

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 17:50

onlywhenidream · 06/07/2022 17:48

Oh but it is MNHQ fault that there are people you feel are transphobes on here because their policy is to kick off anyone they believe to be transphobic

Clearly not.

You my friend are in luck Grin you simply stop commenting on MN, delete your account if you feel particularly strongly, email MNHQ if you feel really really strongly. Then there’s one less visitor in the visitor stats and if enough people do it advertisers get edgy.

"Honestly, the fact people think wagamama will care that people are now not going to go on a friday ngiht for noodles baffles me"

No one thinks they will care
What is self indulgent is people thinking everyone else gives shi about them and their sexuality

So why boycott?
You seem confused about what sexuality is - what does that have to do with trans? It might be an idea if you understand what you are complaining about.

beautyisthefaceisee · 06/07/2022 15:31

Artichokeleaves · 06/07/2022 09:38

If you're openly supportive of political prejudice against and exclusion/suppression of females and homosexuals, and removing child safe guarding, and think this is a) essential to 'supporting T/NB' (somehow) and the good bit justifies the bloody nasty bit and b) this is something to be proud of,

feeling that you're a bit of a twit isn't patronising, and it's really rather mild considering.

But yes, you do you. Prejudice and all.

Cool.

I had a casual conversation about TW in women's sport with a work colleague (as casual as one can when one doesn't know their views, anyway!). The colleague is v good friends with the Wagamama CEO who had told colleague about TERF groups being funded by far-right organisations Confused I've seen that lie on Twitter but never heard it in real-life before.

Why be surprised the bs has to start with some humans reading it and passing it on as truth.

Roll out the next level conspiracy TERF's are not Radical Feminists, but are anti-abortion right wing activists and insist on using the word uterus-haver to force babies/ motherhood on anyone using the word woman. 🙃🤪

Marsoupial · 06/07/2022 14:53

There's a huge difference between supporting trans and non-binary people and not supporting Mermaids; in fact it is entirely possibly that many people do both.

Not supporting Mermaids does not mean not supporting Trans and Non-Binary people at all.

Wagamamas will care - they will care that they will lose business however they lose it. We also didn't order from one of their Dark Kitchens last night because of this information coming to light.

I am really gutted to read about Mildred's - we ate there often - does anyone have any more information.

Sick of all this virtue signalling s==t

malloo · 06/07/2022 14:31

FFS I love Wagamama! How annoying. Think I will write to them rather than just giving up straight away. Toilets in my local one are still single sex.
