If you're cis and you won't date trans folk, you're a transphobe!

I'm a lesbian. I feel like I should say LESBIAN !!!! (at the top of my voice) since we're now on the sidelines these days. There's not a single trans woman I could possibly date.

It's all gone nuts. The only time in real life I've heard anyone say "trans women are women", was in a gay bar in town a couple of months ago. A drag Queen ranting "trans women are women ", expecting applause. I wasn't the only one rolling my eyes at him.

The only correct reply to being called a transphobe is, "Yeah, and...?"

Let's call this what it is. Having sex with.

Not 'dating'. Not 'sleeping with'. Fuck those euphemisms. This is about sex and sexual activity. Coercive sex actually.

Most of all what I find off putting is people who get ANGRY with me for not wanting to sleep with them.

I only date men and they have to be able to sing. He only ticks one of those boxes. Sadly I can't go out with HIM

and here we are, full circle, back to consent and the idea that people (anyone) can say no to sex for whatever reason. It does not make them bad people.

But men have historically had many issues with this concept, despite some very clear explanations, some in cartoon form, to help them. Identifying as female ( transwoman) should not mean they are exempt from the concept of consent, it is now giving them an excuse to put it to one side for their own agenda.

There is (and always has been) a certain number of people who firmly believe they have the right to access women's bodies and women do not have the right to say no.

This is a huge problem.

Everyone has the right to choose who they would like to be intimate with but they don't have the right to decide that that person must want be intimate with them!

Romantic relationships, sex and dating are by their very nature, discriminatory. No one owes anyone a relationship or a sexual encounter.

So I noticed the song lyrics go something like 'if you won't date trans people you're a transphobe, sorry if that makes you mad but it's just true." And I just realised I've been called a transphobe so many times that it has no impact on me any more. I don't care anymore: I'm certainly not mad about it. It's also ironic, to echo what other posters have said...I have dated transwomen in the past and found the experience very off-putting because their behaviour and personality was indistinguishable from males. I gave it a shot, but it really isn't like dating other women.

It seems that some trans people assume that being brave and stunning gives them an automatic right to date who ever they want, regardless of how the other person feels. The concept of attraction has passed them by.

I’m a straight woman. Attracted to men. What is between their legs is not everything it’s the essence, the being, the pheromones and hormones, they way they smell and move which a trans man even with all the physical operations can’t replicate. I would only ever date a man who was born male. I assume it’s the same for lesbians in regards to being attracted to the essence of actual born natal women that can’t be replicated in a trans woman no matter how well they pass (and most don’t!)

I wouldn’t date a Tory. I’d struggle with a committed Lib Dem. Where does that leave me?

I bet, ironically, a trans woman wouldn’t date another trans woman when they really want a lesbian because it doesn’t validate them

It's a ridiculous argument. Why are they talking about lesbians only? Why don't they date gay men? They must be homophobic. They could date other Transwomen? No? They're transphobic too.

Well, I wouldn’t date a committed Christian, or a practising Muslim, or a believer in faith healing, or a grumpy men’s rights activist, or an astrologer. Too much difference in world view.

I doubt any of them would even notice my lack of interest in their beliefs. Why are trans activists so determined to date the uninterested?
