Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

Why is it different?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 18:24

Not believing is different to mocking.

But she can mock it later, anonymously without identifying anyone. No one is suggesting doing it to Felix's face, are they?

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 18:22

If you cant bring yourself to respect 13 year old Felix and their pronouns, then I can't help you.

What are your thoughts on people who have surgery to give themselves certain racial traits and then declare they are that race?

Do you think that's respectful? Or is that cultural appropriation?

I think thats a very different argument.

So not believing every last bit of what Felix says = not respecting Felix?

Not believing is different to mocking.

@Belovedfool
So iirc the story is that there was a supreme being. This being was alone in all the universe then it had a thought. The thought then became Thought and the being was no longer alone.

I think of this being a bit like there was a single cell organism which at some point divided into two.

Anyway the Thought then gave birth to the Logos and Sophia amongst others.

Sophia wanted to know the original source of the Thought but couldn’t find it so fell into despair and confusion and from that despair and confusion was born the demiurge who was arrogant did not acknowledge Sophia as his mother and repeatedly declared that he was the only God, creator and ruler of all.

The Demiurge then starts making stuff from matter but it is all flawed because he is flawed. He makes Adam in his image but Adam can’t move. Sophia realises what is going on, regrets her part in it, sees that some of her light is now trapped matter by the demiurge and sends her daughter Eve/Zoe to help Adam become aware of the truth of the situation first by giving him life enabling him to walk and then Sophia turns herself into a serpent or possesses a serpent and gives Eve/Zoe the apple to share with Adam so that both will have the gift of knowledge/wisdom and be able ultimately to free themselves from the demiurge to free Sophia’s light from matter.

Something along those lines anyway… just another creation story but a less misogynistic one.

Thanks for that! I've never been interested in religion, but as I get older I get more curious, not about the religion, but the stories. That's much nicer than the Eve is wicked stuff.

I’d be really interested to know, @placewherewebelong , if you think all of the xenogenders and neopronouns are all just valid parts of gender identity, and therefore must never be mocked, whether it’s dollkin or otherkin or spacecatgender or therian or cupioromantic or whatever.

If a thirteen year old pops up demanding I change their name to Felix and use xie/xir pronouns because they claim they really are catgender, is it transphobic not to believe in every last bit of it all?

Are they being transphobic? Is not immediately validating this “identity” transphobic? If we ever crack a gentle smile on hearing the latest made up xenogender invented by teenagers on Tumblr is that also transphobic?

Here’s a list of some identity labels straight off social media:
**
rabiespunk, biromantic, lovegender, quoisexual, achillean, sapphillean, ponygender, celestetherea, chigender, kittigender, bugender, flopgender, fligender, liminalgender, lovepunk, amatopunk, plushgender, bunnygender, bungender, moongender, octogender, muttgender chaotithing, citriaromic, knifegender, termcollectorflux, gyneflexible, liongender, feminyc, dispugender, junic, doxigender, duogender, osimirian, zygomycotagender, cosmicgender, omnisexual, arospec, acespec

Do you genuinely think these really all actually exist? And that any mocking of any of these is transphobic? We’re all meant to treat these as sacred cows in case we offend anyone who identifies as such?

If you cant bring yourself to respect 13 year old Felix and their pronouns, then I can't help you.

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 17:54

I was joking. My OH is on a chair, not the sofa. The sofa is MINES!!!!

GrandmasMeatloaf · 26/06/2022 17:52

So happy you told me it was a joke beloved. I understand that there is a large proportion of the population who really doesn’t like that people make fun of anything they say.

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 17:49

PomegranateOfPersephone · 26/06/2022 17:41

You know that there were other versions of that story. The serpent being Sophia the Goddess of wisdom enabled Eve/Zoe to pass on wisdom as well as life (Zoe means life) to Adam who had been made not by the ultimate mysterious deity but an arrogant fallen demiurge unable to imbue him with life. After Eve/Zoe arrives on the the scene Adam wakes from his deep sleep very happy to see her.

There were a lot of differing interpretations of the story, that is just one.

The one we all know so well is told by the institution willing to burn books and people to retain power.

Interesting. Who was Eve/Zoe made by? Why was she alive but Adam not? Or rather, he was deeply asleep?

Maybe he was practicing for the future when he lay on the sofa watching footie whilst the mrs cooked the sunday roast...

ps joke. it's a joke, just in case the humour prefects call the cops on me.

GrandmasMeatloaf · 26/06/2022 17:44

Just popped in here and saw this thread. Apparently I am supposed to be kind and not making fun of the fact that there allegedly are about a 100 gender identities and that the NHS (and Keir Starmer) refuses to define what a woman is. Got it.

And this about 2 days after 51% of the population are directly impacted by the Roe vs Wade. I wonder if it is the cervix havers or the womb carriers, can anyone help me out?

or is there anything in the gender identities which can give me a clue as to who an abortion ban impacts?

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 17:44

That whole story is messed up. The serpent was the one telling Eve the truth, God outright lied to her, telling her that the fruit would kill her.

The serpent told her that no, it would give her knowledge, which it did, but for some reason is painted as the bad guy.

Religion is messed up, period. And I include gender ideology in "religion" as it is a faith based ideology. I'm not a believer. If something requires me to "believe" in it, I'm just not buying it.

Interesting we've had at least three posters in recent days tone policing us and wanting us to be kind. Nope, my kindness left the building a long time ago I have zero intention of being kind to people who demand the embedding of an ideology that will strip away my rights and then threaten to rape or kill me for refusing to lie down and acquiesce to their demands.

The ideology itself is not only nonsense but it is dangerous nonsense, it cannot even be defined, there is no logical or substance to it, and I will mock those parts of it that are mock worthy such as the ludicrous over 100 genders made up of meaningless terms and verbiage.

Call me what you like, think what you like about me for having that opinion @placewherewebelong I frankly don't give a toss, your opinion of me matters not one iota.

cool.

Y'what?!

I'm autistic and GC, don't relate to this at all and find it pretty bloody patronising.

On another thread, someone being equally patronising suggested that autistic people are so black and white in their thinking that they assume liking things generally associated with the opposite sex, must mean that someone really is that opposite sex.

I'm autistic, not stupid.

I and my autistic friends see endless shades of grey. Our thinking is not remotely black and white. That's the problem - we see all the myriad possibilities, but find it tricky to identify which is 'correct' in the opinions of the people around us.

I know there is a link between autism and identifying as transgender, but I do wish people wouldn't theorize based on simplistic stereotypes of autistic people.

its done, like with GD, to suggest that if you aretrans there must be something else.

Do you have any ideas why there is such a large correlation? Interested in your view on it as an autistic woman.

Metabigot · 26/06/2022 17:35

I have a neurodiverse condition and resent the conflation of nd with transgenderism.

I can fully understand the wanting to be accepted for being different but this is barking up the wrong tree surely?

I'm no theologian, but it doesn't bode well from the outset, does it. Eve is blamed, right from the get go. This is a massive stretch but I wonder how many women internalise the "Eve ate the apple so her greed caused the downfall of mankind" into the idea that girls should hide their hunger? Greed seems to be acceptable (to a certain degree) in males but not in females.

I think the endless flags and categorising of people is a symptom of neirodiversity.

It’s a way of signalling “ I am this therefore I need that “

people are hard to figure out - but if you know their flag, their favourite Pokémon, their anime crush and what colour their hair is today - well, you don’t need to worry so much about confusing facial expressions and oblique language with bemusing tone.
