Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

If you choose to wander around in a care bear onesie, rainbow hair and a sad look on your face people are going to look at you.

I'm sorry this really made me laugh out loud! 😂

This would be a lot easier if “non binary” had a definition.

if you can’t define it then it isn’t a thing you can protect in law or legislation.

so that’s your problem. You are trying to defend something that no one knows what it is - including the deluded fools that I gave birth to.

im a child of the 80s. I was weaned on gender bending. None of this is special to me and none of it impresses me and all of it terrifies me.

My kids need to be robust and the fact that school and scouts and society INDULGES their bonkers nonsense is not, to my mind, kind.

so I make jokes about it to cope and to provoke. BecIse they have to toughen up and soon. No one will give a shit about their hurty feels when I’m not here to swoop in and pay their rent that they can’t afford because they are too upset to manage to get to work because someone might look at them funny on the bus. Well, so what if they look at you funny? I wore a dirndl dress and white stilletos and elnett hairspray for a decade, everyone looked at me funny. If you choose to wander around in a care bear onesie, rainbow hair and a sad look on your face people are going to look at you.

So your choice is to either dress in a more conformist way or own your “style” (it’s a fucking uniform, there’s herds of 20 year olds in rainbow dungarees moping about the shopping centre hoping for a nice aggression to wail about)

Get up, get a job, do something to generate some self respect - like define non binary, that would be really helpful for society. Christ, if you can do that you’ll likey get a Nobel ficking prize

I was talking about Stealths post explaining her situation, but of course the thread had moved on so the context disappeared with that movement.
Now. Is it really so hard to allow people to find their way to relief from difficult situations via humour?

No.

nightwakingmoon · 26/06/2022 11:37

Oh no, ridiculous too now! Yet you were the very one who introduced the Sad About Women Being Gleeful And Mean, @placewherewebelong . So why is it ridiculous? You seem annoyed that women don’t like to be lectured about how they aren’t confirming to your personal expectations?

I have to admit, I wouldn’t plop onto a random thread on an internet message board to tell posters off like a schoolteacher, then expect them to receive it very well. Not sure why you do?

I didnt lecture anyone.

I said I didnt like it. I'm entitled to an opinion. This isn't the playground.

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 11:29

I flew off the handle because you called me narrow minded and bigoted.

I didn't actually. The implication was that your denial of the existence of 'non binary women' would be considered narrow minded and bigoted' by folk in that 'community'. If you don't believe me, take a look at some of the subs on Reddit - no dissent or denial of any identity is allowed.

That's the point I was trying to make. To be clear I don't believe you are a narrow minded bigot. But that's the problem with this entire situation- it's radical acceptance without exception or you are indeed a bigot for 'wrongthink'.

However I apologise for offending you.

Nah, I'm sorry. I think we would actually agree IRL! I don't disagree with you in principle, I just dont like some of the mean spiritedness, if you will (not you).

I think its quite regressive and insulting and arrogant that you are literally denying someone else's existence and identity.

Oh the irony!

I agree

I made one comment about the mean gleefulness and that wasnt actually directed at her.

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 11:18

@placewherewebelong I didn't accuse you of anything. What I was doing was pointing out that you saying 'non binary women' aren't a thing, is factually incorrect and by doing so, you are 'invalidating' another person's identity in exactly the same way that you are suggesting others are doing.

I don't have a 'gang' I'm not bullying you or anyone else but I find the constant insistence that the gazillion and growing gender identities are set in stone, when it's clear they are not, and are subsequently becoming less and less meaningful because they are based on individual feelings and interpretations.

I am amazed you can't see that.

Il give you that one, and I think in real life wed agree.

I flew off the handle because you called me narrow minded and bigoted.

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 11:23

This is exactly the nonsense I'm talking about. Do you know how ridiculous you sound?

Again with the irony! 😂

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 11:22

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 11:20

This is really sad. Are you truly so self centred that you'll involve yourself into someone else's coping strategy and try to publicly shame them for not doing it your way? Is compassion something that only works in one direction? The pp explained ehy she's using humour on here, to vent, and yet you're unable, it seems, to back off and let her do it. Why is that so hard?

Quick, the woman police are here! And they are very sad that you are not all conforming to the proper woman stereotypes of being Kind, and Not Mean And Gleefully So.

If you want to be Mean you must identify as non binary or better still, male (that’s okay of course, because Men Are Allowed To Be Mean, that’s their identity). But it’s very SAD you know, to see women womaning wrong. I bet you’re all horrible mothers too because you’re SO MEAN. Sad!

This is exactly the nonsense I'm talking about. Do you know how ridiculous you sound?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 26/06/2022 11:21

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 10:46

But just because that's your way of dealing with it doesnt give you the right to take the piss put of other people does it.

thank you for your post. It gives me great joy to use the word “literally” in its correct context.

yes, I have literally that right. Freedom of speech and expression are rights in this land and I am going to indulge myself in them while they last.

if you don’t like something that someone says then counter it, debunk it, outsmart it, out sneer it. Responding as a 10 year old child would wirh “boo hoo hoo I don’t like it, be kiiiiind” is beneath you if you are an adult

no debate was the worst thing to happen in gender, it really was. You are a decade behind me and those who think like I do - that sex is real and it is grotesque that we lie to people about reality and dress it up as a kindness. We’ve had years to debate and analyse and consider - you have to put in some work and catch up.

why not start with the Mail today? Tullip’s account of his “gender journey”? Read it and weep.

theres fuck all funny in his story, I’ll give you that.

It's a shame that every thread is hijacked by the same two posters who use the same tactics - twist, gaslight and deliberately misunderstand. I'm sure theres a few people who find you utterly funny and wonderful, but in the real world, it only makes people respect you and your views even less.

I'm not denying their existence.

They exist.

They are people, who are either male or female, like all other people.

I don't care about their identity. It's not interesting. It has nothing to do with me.

At best, demanding that everyone care about your personal identity is nothing more than narcissism. At worse, demanding that society be rearranged around gender identities forces everyone else into regressive little boxes based on sexist stereotypes.

jeffbezoz · 26/06/2022 11:13

We are all just human. When I talk to people I just say "fellow human"

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 11:10

Oh look. Gaslighting has been thrown into the word soup now as well! Fantastic!

Candy, I'm going to explain it as if you didnt know.

I said I dont necessarily know if I agree with the concept of gender binary with sex attached, although I appreciate that thats their experience. I haven't murdered anyone. But to me, non binary is just that. I'm not discouting their experience though. IN the same way for example, I have friends who have a rule tha tthey cant have friends of the opposite sex. I don't personally agree with it, but I do listen to them, and hear that its their words, and dont take the piss out of them.

You got that story out to make your point, and when I said I didn't necessarily see it, you accused me of being bigoted and narrowminded, knowing fine wellt hats the opposite of what I said.

You are trying to accuse me of saying things I havent and having an agenda I havent. That is the very definition of gaslighting.

Funnily enough, if I called you a bigot I'd get a strike. Does eternal membership of MN and chasing anyone off your threads who doesn't buy into your gang keep you safe from the rules, then?

My granny had a phrase she used a lot, "If you don't laugh, you'll cry".

If laughter is the therapeutic route chosen by those parents who are in the thick of it, who would choose to condemn them for it?

No, I wouldn't. In the same way I appreciate people use dark humour for things like death.

But gleeful posts such as im going to pretend im a pony, quoting stories from real people as a "gotcha", asking when you get your badge, is it really necessary? Grown women sitting around on the internet taking the piss out of people?
