Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

Yet you've never actually said that you don't think women are better than trans people.

I don't think women are better than trans people. Happy?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:36

Do you really not, as a clearly intelligent woman, think there should he a compromise?

What would you suggest? I think women (and other people) should be allowed to speak freely. I'm not a fan of tone policing whoever is doing it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:29

It's liek anything else in life.
It's all very well to suggest that you shouldn't have to censor yourself, but in life we do.

I'd like to call my boss a wanker most days, but that wouldn't pay the bills.

But I'm not at work, I'm making throwaway posts on social media anonymously. So no need to censor myself, I can say what I want, within the rules of the site and the laws of the country. Whether it offends people is another matter.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:31

You present yourself as the second in command of the mean gang,

No one is in command or second in command and there is no "mean gang" Confused

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 26/06/2022 13:29

i try very hard not to say mean things on here, usually i succeed

i have every sympathy for someone who feels happier and safe identifying as someone of the opposite sex, i think some people take advantage of this way of identifying and use it to get out of punishment for example

i have zero fucking patience for someone who identifies as a cat and wants their pronouns to be meow…and this happens and i will absolutely support someone being able to take the piss out of it even if thats not something I would do myself

ive no sympathy for someone saying they are non binary either, this is the normal state for human beings…not fitting exactly

i think 90% of these genders are made up bollocks, if i believed in god I’d get on my knees every night and thank god that my children are now young adults and don’t believe in any of this either….although again they are very supportive of transmen and transwomen

So by that logic, you are ignoring the fact that women are also awful to trans people (as shown on this thread). Does your natural born sex make you better than the other?

Writing the same thing and ascribing opinions to me that I don't hold over and over again doesn't stop it being a straw man.

You need to take a logic class.

Yet you've never actually said that you don't think women are better than trans people.

The irony of your top sentence after your performance about my bullying comment is interesting.

My god, you're boring.

Happy to oblige, @placewherewebelong - but I think you’re clearly very spiteful and meanspirited, and also resort to name-calling whenever someone points out the clear hypocrisy in what you’ve written. I would be ashamed to be lecturing others about “meanness” whilst behaving that way, but perhaps that doesn’t matter to you.

In any case, it’s an incredibly neat demonstration of how people attempt to control women’s speech, first through shaming, and then resorting to overt name-calling if that doesn’t get results.

In fact, it’s one of the most misogynist techniques for trying to police women’s discourse that there is. Whether done by men or women.

Here's the thing though - you can think what you like. You are without a doubt one of the most disingenous posters I have come across. I have more time for @Ereshkigalangcleg 's views because she's consistent and blatantly astute even though we disagree. You present yourself as the second in command of the mean gang, on hand to insult anyone who disagrees with your pals.

I stand by everything I've said, and ultimately we will both go on with our lives.

the attempted emotional shaming of "women's speech" is tedious. I am a woman, I don't give a monkeys what sex you are, I care about what you say.

If you could tell me where I've been mean I would be interested, unless of course you want to misrepresent my bullying comment for what I believe is the 7th time.

I particularly enjoyed the occasional attempts to force team, suggesting that if I were a bit kinder I could express my valid views.

It's not about being kind.

In their own heads (And I'm not talking about the nutters) they want to be part of YOUR reality, not deny you.

They can want it all they like. But that doesn't change the material facts does it? I get that you want to be kind etc but that kind of fantastical thinking is problematic in so many ways.

No, it doesn't. But I do honestly think (aside from the nutters) people have misinterpreted this.

This is what I mean about the genderists being a decade behind in developing their arguments.

it really takes the sport out of the banter, you know.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:20

But they aren't part of my reality. They have nothing to do with me.

I want to be able to have and use a word that means, exclusively, adult humans of the female biological sex to describe myself, and to have single sex spaces and sports reserved for that group.

I don't want that word to include male people, because that would defeat the purpose of it.

I don't recognise the legitimacy of gender as being any sensible basis on which to organise society, because it is based on regressive and sexist stereotypes.

All this.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 26/06/2022 13:20

I did. He gets praise and simpering and sponsorship, she gets abuse.

she’s hugely talented. I hope she gets a Netflix show.

I’ve got some great jokes about trans stuff. There is a rich seam of mockery there, but fuck all satire because no one could trump the likes of Jeffrey or that new simpering one, Dylan, I think? With the barbies pocket tampons? He has to be a character act.

Did you see the brilliant Tiktok parody a young woman in America did of that person? The hounds of hell were unleashed upon her, doxxing, death and rape threats, the usual. Quite something.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:14

I didn't say, and don't think that women can't be awful, so it is precisely a straw man.

But your whole basis of speaking about trans people is about members of that group being awful to women, yes? So by that logic, you are ignoring the fact that women are also awful to trans people (as shown on this thread). Does your natural born sex make you better than the other?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:16

they want to be part of YOUR reality, not deny you.

They can't. It's not possible. They have nothing in common with us that other males don't. And sometimes the stereotyped view they have of women is deeply offensive. Should that mean they should stop doing it?

CandyLeBonBon · 26/06/2022 13:14

Back to the original purpose of the thread - ALSO don't feel gendered. I don't feel my sex aligns with anything other than its biological function which I may or may not choose to use. I often feel very 'unfeminjbe and I'm definitely unladylike as my mother always points out. So in this endless conversation about 'gender' where do I fit? I don't feel 'womanly' and often feel awkward and out of place. I'm certain, if asked, that I would also describe myself as agender. But the point of this whole thread is that as an apparently cishet woman (I'm not, I'm bisexual but currently in a relationship with a man so you'd never know the difference at first glance) if I were to come out and claim that on SM and expect the world to treat me as if I'm something special, there will STILL be people from within the community who think I'm gendering wrong. Because it all means different things to different people. Just like religion.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 13:14

I didn't say, and don't think that women can't be awful, so it is precisely a straw man.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 26/06/2022 13:14

@Metabigot re you being agender. This is what I have been told too. Which is great because when I am arrested for my hate crime I will wave my little flag and speak in the approved style and make the required demands and everything out if it because being under the trans umbrella means you don’t have to take responsibility for yourself or your actions.

a bit like not liking someone’s joke in the internet. Instead of whining you could find something else on th internet.

I’ve got some great jokes about trans stuff. There is a rich seam of mockery there, but fuck all satire because no one could trump the likes of Jeffrey or that new simpering one, Dylan, I think? With the barbies pocket tampons? He has to be a character act.

But by claiming to be women, trans women are denying my reality.

And my right to identify myself in a way that doesn't include them.

No, they aren't.

In their own heads (And I'm not talking about the nutters) they want to be part of YOUR reality, not deny you.
